Post No. 322 - The downside of feathers

I've just (well, last night) had an interesting dream where I saw an astral person brushing the end of a (a raven's) against physical people, which caused them to become instantly hypnotised, after which he (the astral person was presenting as male - which doesn't necessarily mean anything) jabbed the quill end of the feather into the physical person and they instantly transformed (I am taking this as figurative, although the dream image was of a physical change).

My initial reaction was that this was connected with a situation of psychic attack that I am dealing with at the moment (one of several - I usually am working at helping several such situations at any one time, just as much as I usually do a lot of rescue), but further advice from a few people suggests it may not actually that (it could actually be around transformation, with a few shamanic overtones - certainly I've never had negative associations with feathers previously, so the transformation explanation actually is consistent with my prior experiences).

However, on the psychic attack situation, I've had some interesting developments.

For a start, normally (after I've established protection, including asking that all I do to others be done to me) I clear away the murky energies of jealousy, insecurity, self hate, guilt, hate, etc [1] around the attacker (on multiple levels - which means I look at etheric, astrals, etc, not just the physical realm). This includes doing rescue of uncooperatives that I've posted about quite a few times elsewhere [2].

This latter aspect is actually very important, as it can lead to someone who appears to be moping on their own actually carrying on a little "creation of negative group think" situation, a bit like a group of friends getting together to support one who experienced a problem or a setback, but instead of being sympathetic, supportive and loyal, the group of uncooperatives is actually pushing the person more and more into a negative state - which is one contributing factor (there are many others) to how terrible things like unexpected violence or attempts at self-harm can occur.

Not to mention psychic attack.

The solution, by the way, is to learn a few things like the "Positive Energy Test" (see here), and to just thoroughly know oneself, so you can say "hey - that thought's not from me! I'll ignore that thought!".

However, in this particular case that I am dealing with, the person is so tightly bound with their emotions and resisting my attempts, particularly around working on multiple levels, that I have sort of used Kerr Cuhulain's pull-push technique and changed to surrounding and flooding that person with light - which I normally do after I've got rid of the negativity, which makes the light more effective. Actually, it is more than surrounding and flooding: it is a case of packing the person so tightly with light that it's almost like they're packed in ice.

The connection with Raven Feather Man that I was originally thinking of? Well, the attacker-person could possibly have connected with him to get assistance ... which comes at a price (although it turns out that wasn't the case in this instance). And you know what? Consciously, attacker-person probably has no awareness of anything other than one, or maybe two, of attacker-person's myriad emotions.

Know thyself is a really, really , REALLY important guide.

Notes
:

  1. Notice I didn't mention anger? That's because I don't consider it an emotion in it's own right - it is the way something else is expressed. See here.
  2. See here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.

Post No. 320 - New Moon in Libra

There is a Dark Moon tomorrow night, so the night or two after that would be a good time to do a New moon ritual. If you're close to the Dark Moon (the Dark Moon is, I think only just inside Libra, so you would have a couple of days before the Moon moves out of Libra), you might like to try this ritual.

The core is:

Invoke (by chanting their names with increasing vigour) the runes Jera (cycles, harvest and balance), Nauthiz (needs), Eihwaz (balance), Dagaz (also balance, in this ritual) and Ansuz (inspiration, in this ritual).

The essence of Libra is balance, so this New Moon provides an opportunity to achieve a New Balance in some way. Begin by meditating on the various imbalances and balances in your life, aspects of your life that have perhaps opposing polarities or perhaps rely on a dynamic equilibrium. In what ways can you find a new way to balance anything that needs to be balanced, or improve something that you thought adequately balanced? let the energy of the Moon, as she comes back, seep throughout all levels of your being, inspiring you with new perspectives.
When you have a resolution, chant something along the lines of:
As the Moon takes her full strength
In the sign of balance and harmony,
Let harmony and balance pervade.
Devoke (by chanting their names with decreasing vigour) the runes Jera, Nauthiz, Eihwaz, Dagaz and Ansuz.

The ritual in full is:

All rituals consists of 5 major parts, which you will notice below are segmented into the five elements. Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Spirit, but not in that order. Each Elemental correspondence has its own unique role within the ritual.
In most cases they are broken down as follows:
· East – Air – Athame – Opening – This is the basis of preparation, introduction of the ceremony.
· North – Fire – Wand - Invocations – This is the basis of invocations, prayers of the ceremony.
· Spirit – Centre – the ritual itself.
· West – Water – Chalice - Offerings – This is the time of offerings, libations, and honour
· South – Earth – Pentacle – Closing – This is the time of devocation and opening of the circle.

Spirit – Centre
RITUAL
The essence of Virgo is, to me (and I’m not an astrologer), analysis – tending towards self-criticism. The New Moon is about new beginnings, so this combination raises the possibility of a new attitude towards oneself – a new self critique, in a sense. To do that, it often necessary to let go of the old that is inappropriate, strengthen what is old and appropriate, and bring in whatever is new that you wish to strengthen. The key here is knowing what is appropriate, and what is not.
Invoke (by chanting their names with increasing vigour) the runes Jera (cycles, harvest and balance), Nauthiz (needs), Eihwaz (balance), Dagaz (also balance, in this ritual) and Ansuz (inspiration, in this ritual).

Water – West - Chalice
OFFERING
This is traditionally done with a chalice of juice, wine or water passed around the company within the circle AFTER the dedicationary offering has been completed.
Then it is common practice to pour out a small libation, and dedicate that to your Ancestors, physical and spiritual, and to all your friends in Nature, seen and unseen.
Dedicate what remains in the Chalice to the Goddess and the God.
(After the ritual, the libations may be emptied outside, or otherwise respectfully disposed of.)

Earth - South - Pentacle
CLOSING
It is now time to give thanks, and close the ritual

Devoke the Four Quarters

North (fire)
Example only: “Guardian of the Watchtower of the North, power of Fire and manifestation. We thank You for Your presence here tonight – we thank You for Your aid, and Your guidance. May there be peace between us now and always. Go if You must, stay if You will, we bid You hail, and farewell!”

West (water)
Example only: “Guardian of the Watchtower of the West, power of Water and emotion. We thank You for Your presence here tonight – we thank You for Your aid, and Your guidance. May there be peace between us now and always. Go if You must, stay if You will, we bid You hail, and farewell!”
