As a partly humorous aside, and partly to make a genuine point, something I used to do as a teenager was pick up “happy rocks”, and then carry those around with me for a while, then, when the rocks were no longer happy, return them to what I termed “their family” - i.e., back to where I had found them.
In the current winter, some of the deciduous trees in the street and our yard are shedding their leaves, but without the autumnal colours I am used to in such trees (and, obviously, much later than I am used to).
These leaves will mostly become part of the natural mulch in the soil, but some inevitably get carried inside, and I try to return as many of those as I can to the outside world.
This gives me a sense that those leaves “enjoy” being returned to where they can continue their natural function - and, having written about that now, I will be making more of an effort to ensure that happens.
Along a similar line, when we first moved here, as a way of introducing our possessions and us to our new natural world, I would, with the permission of the tree involved, borrow one of the tree’s leaves for a few days, take it home to absorb our vibes and ensure we “absorb” the vibes of the new neighbourhood, and then return it to the tree (more specifically, the ground underneath the tree canopy).
Being in the place that allows one to fulfil one's function is good, but that can change for mobile forms of Sentient Life such as humans (and other animals), in which case establishing connection with the new place is good - good manners, as much as anything else. I have read rituals aimed at doing so formally and with more powerful aspects of the new place, but “simply” being aware and making the effort to share space also helps.

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).#PsychicABetterWorld and may all that I do be of value and actively BPM used for and by the nonphysical BPM because #KindnessIsThePoint
