Post No. 3,194 - Work should not be a cult

I have been thinking about workplace culture and problems of late (aided by this excellent YouTube series, which backs up a lot of stances I’ve advocated for over the decades), and I think the counter to a lot of problems in the workplace can be summed up as:

work should not be like a cult

Work should:    not force a facade of friendship on colleagues (it should be collegiate instead),   no group think,   allow people to have a life outside of work - and acknowledge the importance of that in creating and maintaining the employee you want to come in,   genuinely allow people to bring their authentic selves to work,   stay out of people’s personal social media,   and avoid pushing things like exercising at work, rather than at home.

Politicians need to catch up to that - and maybe break free of any corporate capture they’ve capitulated to ..

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
