- the situation in the Central African Republic continues to be dire, with people trying to escape being turned back to prevent them being massacred;
- the United Nations has recommended that North Korea be tried for crimes against humanity for the recent famines and other abuses;
- Yemen's attempts at developing a civil society seem to be being thwarted by tribalism and violence;
- my nations current government has stupidly brought Australia to a situation the Opposition Foreign Minister describes as "open [diplomatic] conflict" with Indonesia;
- Lebanon has a new Government, after more than a year of temporary arrangements, and that Government will need help to survive in that turbulent region, and Syria and iraq also need help;
- finally, there have been a number of significant 'natural disasters' - including the volcanic eruption in Indonesia, floods in the UK, snow storms in North America, and bushfires here in Australia.
