Post No. 495 - A Rangers of the Inner Place technique: connecting (attuning) chakras

I've posted about this technique previously, but it feels that I am supposed to elaborate on that, so here goes.

The principle is simple enough, and quite probably many other people have found it, and it is done for the purpose of attuning chakras in different people to each other, so that they may be in greater harmony, and thus better able to work together.
  • as always, establish protection, including doing (psychic) flaming to cleanse my aura and the space I am working in (see http://gnwmythr.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/expecto-patronum-flaming-and-bursts-of.html);
  • activate solar plexus and higher chakras - that is:
solar plexus, heart, throat, "third eye" (forehead), and crown, if you're using the seven chakra system, and
solar plexus, connection between solar plexus and heart, heart, connection between heart and throat, throat, "third eye" (forehead), crown, Causal Star, Soul Star, and Stellar Gateway, if you're using the thirteen chakra system,
(see my posted workshop notes here and here, and here)
  •  ask your BPLF [1] Guides/Patron Deities to give you:
    (1) an impression of a colour to represent the frequency of a selected chakra (start from highest frequency chakra - crown or Stellar Gateway, and work downwards), and then
    (2) an impression of a colour to represent the frequency it "should" be in order to be best tuned in to others working, or to accomplishing this particular task, and then
    (3) an impression of a colour to add to your selected chakra (via colour breathing or a similar technique) in order to change it's frequency to that which it "should" be;
  • do the change of frequency; and
  • check that you feel tuned in correctly.
When you are working with others physically present, that last step should include things like finding evidence of enhanced ability to communicate psychically, and better being able to get the same guidance. It is the key to a group of Rangers being able to work together - initially, in a group of three called a Triangle, and then of getting groups of Triangles to work together, with each Triangle having a particular task - for instance, one Triangle being focused on protecting where the assembled group is working from, one Triangle protecting the area where the rescues and/or clearings are being performed (which basically is intended to stop those who are being negative from being able to draw in other negative energy, entities or objects - collectively termed negative "units), one Triangle scouting the area, two Triangles doing the work, another Triangle in reserve, and another Triangle directing what is happening - yes, that is seven Triangles, or twenty one people ... If you want to do some serious spirit rescue and clearing, you may well find yourself having to take on very strong entities, and it is safer - since I am assuming neither you nor I is a great "Master" :) - to have a group of trained, practised ("drilled"), cooperative people to work together ...

Oh, and, when trying this out, see my comments about practising here ... it gets faster with practise.

Post No. 431 - Spirit rescue: some further thoughts

I'm not normally overwrought by many of the rescues I do (I've encountered a lot, experienced a lot [especially when I was a physical rescue medium, as discussed elsewhere on this blog, and have reached a point where not much gets to me), but I woke this morning emotional from a rescue of ... a baby animal.

Now, I am very well aware that my conscious mind may be rationalising, and the baby may actually have been human, but whatever it was, the experience was both moving, and unusual. The unusual element is related to technical aspects of the rescue, as there were three of us, and each one of us took an aspect of the baby over - breath (Önd, I think, in the Norse system), spirit and mind, where they were then brought back together. I think I took Önd ...

Hmmmm. Quite a bit to sort out there ...

One other thought that comes to mind on this is that of changing frequency. Most people seem to need elaborate, and very indirect visualisations to accomplish this. Tools used may include visualising light of different colours (thus triggering associations of changing frequency), or even things like stairs/ladders. Me, I just make an effort of will. ... maybe the ability I have to do so is something that goes with being a world walker, although who knows which came first.

It's worth thinking about, the fact that there may be easier and more direct ways of doing things (particularly psychic/spiritual things, of course), AND the fact that many of the things we use or work with are actually indirect tools - just as, for example, fiddling with the tuning knob on a radio (now buttons on most radios!) doesn't directly change the frequency that the radio is tuned to, it changes the electrical resistance of some of the circuitry that is connected to the knob/button, and it is the changed resistance that effects the change of tuning ...

Post No. 218 - Auric breathing

As I drove in to work recently, practising some breathing exercises (ironically, not those mentioned in the linked post :) ) and simple (non-distracting!) colour visualisations, I thought about what to do that would be the equivalent of using breathing exercises (which I find fantastically helpful for almost everything) when I no longer have a physical body. After all, we all die eventually, which means our nonphysical bits lose their physical bits which include those physical bits used for breathing ...

As I pondered this, I came to be aware that the aura can actually sort of "breathe" in that it can "pulse". By that, I mean it can flex in and out a little, or "pulse" with colours/energy. I cannot recall coming across that before, so was actually very pleased to be given that.

Now, at that time, I tried working with this awareness. I find a particular type of wave sequence (from my sailing days) very peaceful, and I found I could get my aura pulsing at that sort of frequency and then I was more peaceful than the standard sort of breathe-and-visualise routine. Later that day I had trouble getting to sleep, and i found I was able to get my aura pulsing at that frequency, and with a nice green, and off to the land of nod I went ... (meaning, I fell asleep :) ).

This, to me, makes sense, as nature rarely ever is static - even most apparent cases of equilibrium are really dynamic. As an example, sand on a beach is usually constantly being replaced ... as another example, the cells of our body are constantly being replaced, and yet we're still more or less the same creation.

I consider this adds a new tool to my bag of techniques that is the equivalent of the assemblage point.

To end with a small digression, maybe this "pulse" effect is a bit like FM radio waves: there is a basic frequency, with a further change of frequency on top of that which we can hear (given suitable devices) as music etc.
Hmm. Interesting ... and useful :)

Post No. 216 - Virtues and faults: a matter of octave? And dreams vs. responsibility ...

Recently I posted about some guidance I had received (through meditation) to cultivate equanimity. Today, I received some further commentary on this. The equanimity to be cultivated is, in fact, simply a higher expression of a fault I have struggled with, which is being (or being perceived as) complacent.

So, in somewhat the same way that cowardice in one circumstance can be prudence in another, or courage in one circumstance can be foolhardiness in another, my complacency in one set of circumstances can be transformed by me into equanimity.

I should, however, point out that my meditation is not saying that it is simply a case of one exact same thing being of different value or merit in different circumstances: it is more that, by hard work and application, one can choose to manifest one's flaws on a higher plane, in such a way that that aspect of oneself becomes beneficial, rather than harmful.

So ... personality characteristics, the negative (destructive) versions of which we seem to be so addicted to on this planet, can be transformed from negatives to positives, which is a way of personally evolving into what one can be, rather than holding on to things which are limiting.

Could be quite interesting to work out why one is holding onto a negative aspect and then work through the process of transforming both the attachment and the thing being held on to.

Now, films.

Recently we watched "The Astronaut Farmer" and "Closing the Ring" ... the former deals with holding on to a dream and seeing it happen despite major odds (although the dream is balanced against family responsibilities) and the latter deals with holding on to a dream for far too long, when the dream should be let go off.

The first film mentioned deals with someone who leaves his training at NASA when his family needs him, and then later works towards completing his dream of going into space, and gets his family and community caught up in the dream as well. Along the way, he gets into financial trouble, and is hauled back into line by his wife. I agree with her actions: if you have others, particularly children, who are dependent on you, you must consider their needs. If that means you stick at a hated job until the kids leave home, then so be it (although you could also consider changing your job, and I would presume that, when the kids are old enough, you would be a multiple income [1] family ... ).

The second film mentioned is about a (heterosexual) woman who loses the man she loves during the Second World War, and then holds on to the love she has for him through a life lived with another man. Unbeknown to her, her beau had briefly survived the crash of the B17, and had asked a local man to pass on a message to the woman. Eventually, through many twists and turns and delays, he does ... around 50 years late.

This woman held to her vow to the dead beau, and the local man to his promise to return the ring (which meant he had to find it first, owing to a subsequent fire, and hence spent decades digging the wreck site to try to find the ring). There are some conversations in the film which are quite poignant about whether one should hold to a promise or not.

While I agree with holding to vows where one has given one's word as long as it has meaning, there can be a limit. For instance, if you promise eternal devotion to an organisation, what are you going to do when ten, a hundred, a thousand or a million years later, that organisation not only no longer exists, but would make no sense in the context of the latter times?

More particularly to the second film, I do not believe in monogamy: a vow of exclusive love to one person is, in my mind, nonsensical.

I do, however, believe in honour. It was therefore interesting to see the Kung Fu episode "A Lamb to the Slaughter", the 14th episode of season 3. In that episode, Caine takes on a debt from his father, and seeks to repay it. This, incurring debts in another's name and without that person having a chance to say yea or nay, is also nonsensical - although some acts are so profound that there may be a case for a group of people owing another group of people for some act, such as a war or genocide. As examples of that, consider the reparations paid by Germany for the World Wars, and actions taken by governments to correct wrongs such as ... the Stolen Generation (where an apology was made, and some compensation may be paid). In the case of the Kung Fu episode, perhaps the debt is more from one family to another ...

As a final reflection, when the astronaut Farmer launches his rocket, I found that a bit of a tear jerker moment - largely because the rest of the community saw the launch and realised he was not a crack pot after all. When I looked deep within myself for the cause of that reaction, I found I was enjoying the acknowledgement he received, and that there are things I am doing for which I would like to receive acknowledgement from the people who are giving me a hard time over those actions. So ... I still have ego and selfishness, and am not putting logical acts for the betterment of all ahead of my personal egoic desires for reward for doing those acts. In other words, I'm still human.

Might work on it, though ... :) And, of course, it will help me to do so to view such flaws with equanimity ...

Love, light, hugs and blessings

Notes:
  1. I cannot say "double income", as the family may be in a poly situation, so there may be more than two parents.

Post No. 111 - Working together

I'm a little loathe to write about this topic, but feel I must - I want to make sure the idea is put out into this world before I lose the chance to do so because of accident or psychic interference or something else. Paranoid, I know, but them's the breaks (hey, my blood sugar got a little low, this arvo - OK? :D [1] ).

I want to write about working together: about linking up with, or connecting to, another person, or persons, or place, or thing, and combining one's strengths and abilities. This is a concept that is mentioned in a wide range of places, in a wide ranges of ways - I can't be bothered to dig up too many examples, but I will mention:
(1) Lobsang Rampa [2] mentions, in I forget which book, that a few people joined together in perfect harmony (or maybe it was completely selflessly) can generate enough energy/psychic force/love to change the world for the better; and
(2) I am rereading Stuart Holroyd's brilliant"Briefing for the Landing on the Planet Earth" (now republished as "The Nine: Briefing from Deep Space" [3]), and one of the core messages for the three central characters is that they three, joining together, can have a profound influence on people and world events.

Well, I am well convinced of this because of my personal experiences, including the time I spent working learning, studying, and applying lessons and techniques that are now core to most of what I now attempt to pass on to others) at ASPECTS in the early 1980s. It is, in my opinion, quite possible to have a constructive psychic influence on people, places and happenings both near and far.

So, having got that first point out the way, there are a few others I would like to discuss.

The first is chakras. I written about chakras elsewhere - see here [4], here [5], here, here and here - oops: sorry, one too many "here"s :D [1]. One of the main points I have wanted to make about chakras to date is that they are not a fixed set up: as we evolve, both individually and as a species, our chakras will also develop. (Keep in mind the sceptical view of chakras I've written about as you read this - don't be guilty of blind naivete!) Part of that development is learning to use what you have. Typically, this involves various visualisations [6] to stimulate and "shut down" the various chakras.

One more advanced chakra technique is to project a beam of energy from each chakra, and then allow the energy to form the image of a person (which is termed externalising the chakra). This is something I have only recently started to work with (it is in the Second Degree of the Correllian teaching materials), but am finding it extremely effective and rewarding (but note that I have worked up to this gradually).

Now, one of the techniques I have used to work with chakras is what I would broadly describe as "matching frequencies", attuning or (if my blood sugar was getting a bit dodgy again) harmonising chakras. In this exercise, two (or more - although I've only tried it with two people at the time of writing) people check the "frequency" of each of their chakras, one by one, and the corresponding chakra of the other person, and applies energy to bring the two frequencies together.

So, let's say person A sees person A's solar plexus chakra as yellow (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste), and person B's solar plexus chakra as green (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste): person A could apply what they perceive as blue (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste) to their solar plexus chakra to adjust the frequency to green, so that person A would feel in harmony with person B at the "level" ("frequency", or "sphere of existence") which manifests through the solar plexus chakra (often considered to be emotions, other than selfless love; this chakra is also often associated with the astral body).

In the meantime, person B may go through the same exercise (after person A - otherwise you have the situation where each is chasing after a frequency that is being changed to match their own changing frequency [7]) and add blue (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste) to red (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste) to create a purple (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste) colour so that person B feels they in harmony at that level.

Phew. Sounds complicated - and it does take time the first few times, but, as with most things, practice makes it easier, and it then becomes quicker and has a risk of one or both getting blase or complacent). Of course, if there are physical world clashes or disharmonies between these two people, their perceptions are likely to be so far off that they do not actually succeed in matching chakra frequencies: I've used the technique with lovers and others who are already friends or close friends, NEVER with people I feel uncomfortable with, or not close to. (Obviously you have to check that this feeling is reciprocated: you can only truly do so in an effective way if the other person is in a situation where they genuinely feel they can say no: consider using an intermediary, especially if you are feeling enthusiastic!)

So, having done that, the next step in this technique is to externalise one or more chakras, and then have the personifications blend together. I'm not going to write too much more about ways this can be done at this stage: I don't feel comfortable doing so, but I have got the pressure off by getting the basic concept out there so others can develop, refine and apply it (hopefully use it better than I could).

One thing I will strongly suggest is not combining all (or even most) chakras: the chakras that are left separate can be most useful in making you sure you separate out your energies, and each focus on who you are and ground yourselves back in your own personalities and various bodies. As such, I would particularly suggest that your sacral and base chakras, and crown chakra, be kept out of such exercises, as they are connected with our survival/who you are in the physical, and with your soul.

Also, if you are having particular problems that could affect a particular chakra, DO NOT combine that chakra, or you may pass those energies (think of it as potentially infecting your partner). As an example, if you are emotionally upset or depressed, do not use your solar plexus chakra - especially do not do so if you are angry. If you are either starting or ending a love or intimate relationship, do not involve your heart chakra (the caution in relation to starting such relationships is because the New Relationship Energy could throw others emotional balance out enough to affect free will decisions about relationships they would have made - i.e., they could become involved in something they didn't want).

I wish all who work with this well, but do be cautious. This technique, BTW, is one that will form part of the training I am working on for the Rangers of the Inner Plane.

[1] maybe that should be *slightly manic grin* :)
[2] I do hope everyone notices that there are TWO links there ...
[3] I think this was published in the USA as "Prelude to the Landing on Planet Earth". There are follow ups to this book, apparently, including "The Only Planet of Choice". I have not read any of those, so do not know what they are like I do intend to read them, BTW, but I am wary of Internet purchases by credit card etc. (What's that? Paranoid again? No, me thinks this P word is "Prudent" ... ) One of the main reasons the book is so brilliant is that it is sensibly objective and sceptical - it does not have the religiously rabid pseudo-scepticism of deniers that I have come across, but equally, it does not naively assume all must be so simply because ...
[4] I was tickled pink to find someone had actually forwarded this article on Twitter.
[5] The "push-pull" technique there will also be adapted to the Rangers of the Inner Plane.
[6] I'm not going to go into details of the various techniques here, but I do consider the gradual progression of techniques in the Correllian system to be very effective. A couple of other links I have found interesting of late are here and here.
[7] Chakra tango, anyone?

Post No. 065 - Three faces of the Goddess and four seasons

I was recently sent a link to an interesting discussion on an LJ account regarding the number of aspects of the Goddess (that's a simplification: you'll have to follow the original link [which I will seek permission to post] if you to find out more). One comment in that debate took my attention: it was that there are three aspects of the Goddess commonly acknowledged, but four quarters are commonly invoked in circle, so how does three go into four (more or less - I'm rephrasing from memory)?

Well, let's start.

First off, the quarters.

When I began working with magic, I didn't know you were supposed to call one element per quarter, so I drew a pentagram and invoked all five elements (the fifth being spirit; the other four being earth, air, water and fire) from every quarter, and sometimes from above and below as well. Since then, I've been taught to call one element from each quarter, but:
(1) as my teacher has said, does it matter where a radio antenna is placed in a space, so long as it is tuned correctly? In fact, I hve invoked the four energies without moving - and consider that a basic, fundamental aspect of training.
(2) I have seen (and sometimes participated in) debates, not only about the swapping of fire and earth from northern to southern hemisphere (northern correspondences generally having fire where the sun is [in the south], and southern correspondences having the fire where the sun is [in the north]*), but also about swapping water and air (e.g. invoking water in the east if one is working on the west side of Port Phillip Bay).
(3) When I started working magic, I was living in the tropics, so I had the sun both north and south of me in the same year: how do develop an association between elements an quarter under those circumstances? Perhaps change depending on where the sun is?
(4) There are sometimes seasonal associations built into the elements/quarters (earth winter, air spring, fire summer and water autumn). Those don't necessarily fit the places the magic is being worked - for instance, here in Melbourne, a better seasonal association would be to use the local indigenous seasons described here. Of course, one could also consider just calling the energies by name (e.g., inspiration, manifestation, emotion/flow and strength.
(5) With respect to associations with aspects of the Goddess:
- I normally call maiden from east (spring), mother from north (summer) and crone from west (autumn), and from the south I either call Lilith or the God in his aspect as Lord of Time (which governs the flow of the seasons). I feel absolutely no need to have some sort of equality of number of aspects of the Goddess and God: I consider balance to be a long term (as in "many lifetimes") issue anyway.
- the maiden-mother-crone aspects of the Goddess could be reportrayed as: (i) maiden - interacting with the world in a self absorbed way (stereotypically [which means this does not apply to everyone] a child wants to have it all , and have it now); (ii) mother - interacting with the world through focus on nurturing one's family and loved ones; (iii) crone - interacting with the world in a more dispassionate way, with the broader idea of family (clan, tribe, society, Gaia, etc). Taking this a step further, there is a fourth aspect, which is interacting with oneself - perhaps this is the darker face of the Goddess, akin to the self-reflection and learning between lives. This would certainly fit winter, which has associations for many people of being indoors, perhaps slightly isolated, and a bit cut off in that one is less willing (or able, in extreme winters) to go out and spend time with friends and family.
- our histories generally (this is much debated and argued) tell us that Wicca evolved as a fertility religion. In that context, it would tend to have a focus on having children, as that is what the tribe would have needed, along with those who were no longer raising children sharing their wisdom. We are no longer in a struggle to survive in the same way. In fact, population growth is one of the pressures that is directly harming this planet. We have moved on and changed as a world; it is time, in my opinion, for us to embrace the changing circumstances and let go of arguments about whether we are truly pagan or are neopagan: I consider we should embrace making paganism relevant to this world, which needs an earth based awareness (including awareness of how the seasons are passing) to prevent a focus on materialism destroying this world. Part of that is making the faces of the Goddess more relevant to our society - including options other than just mother. Maybe we should start talking about mother / warrior / priestess / ... for the "middle" aspect? Maybe we should acknowledge the introspective face(s) of the Goddess? Of course, this probably ends the debates about pagan vs. neopagan (except, maybe, for the various reconstructionists), but then, I've said (and written) "Christians" should stop calling themselves that and start dealing with the fact that they are - by the means of every argument used to say we are neopagans, neoChristians. At least some of them have discussions about changing to be more relevant in a changing world.

Now, with regard to "fitting" three aspects of the Goddess into four elements, how about we stop thinking in a flat earth viewpoint? There are four elements, which are commonly called from one direction each: how about above and below? Perhaps we could call the four elements from various quarters, then maiden from above, mother from this level of reality, and crone from the underworld?

This is an issue which crops up in other faiths as well, and I currently contemplating how the Norse pagan system (which I am NOT an expert or even skilled in) works:
- all aspects comes from earth
- there are three aspects: yeast (birth), salt (life) and venom (death)
- there are also four elements (fire, ice, earth, water)
- all of which combines to create iron

I've been visualising this a little bit like an hierarchy: above a disk of earth is a disk split into three wedges (yeast, salt and venom - I'll call them humours), above which is a disk split into the four elements (incidentally, a friend who is well versed in rune lore has said it is possible to create all the runes from fire and ice: the two primordial polarities of the cold Nordic world), and above that is a disk of iron.

So ... how do I line up the four elements and the three humours? Well, perhaps I've got that wrong. Perhaps the disk with the three humours should actually be below earth (or the four elements disk)? Perhaps the three humours disk should be at right angles to the elements disk?

We live in a three dimensional world (in the sense that most of us do not have much control over the fourth dimension of time). Let's think that way, instead of just two dimensionally. (Thinking two dimensionally is particularly bad if you are setting up wards or other psychic defences: for those to be effective, you MUST cover above and below also.)

Perhaps we should be thinking more about, say, things two interlocking trigrams, or hexagrams (which fits both the Melbourne seasons, a concept of maiden-mother-crone where each aspect has both an involutionary [self reflective, or internal growth] and evolutionary aspect [interact with the outer world, and an oblique view of the sides a cube).

I like the volknut because it allows three interlocking aspects of three - which is why I use it on the base on my talismanic tetrahedrons (which are talismans created three dimensionally: I'll post about them in due course, probably next year).

The point here is that combinations of three can create more than three things:
- for instance, if we have three energies, A, B and C, we can create A+B, A+C, B+C and A+B+C, r four. Hmmmmm. Could the three aspects of the Goddess be mixed in a way that creates four elements? When I pose this, I am very much aware that the primary colours create many colours. Maybe air is, say, 80% maiden, 10% mother and 10% crone (as a rough, just invented and not based on anything example!)?

In this sense, I can see three going "into" four. I could also three times four creating twelve, so if, say, maiden-mother-crone corresponded to cardinal-mutable-fixed, then combining that with the four elements leads to the twelve signs of the zodiac.

The original debate was interesting. I look forward to more debates in the pagan / neopagan / Wiccan worlds, and hope to be around long enough to see what our belief system evolves into.

I'll leave it at that.

* One comment was to the effect that people in the southern hemisphere should simply follow the northern hemisphere - to the extent of celebrating Yule in the middle of our winter and Litha in the middle of our winter!
