Post No. 3,441 - A belated acknowledgement: the impact of childhood (and adult) trauma on psychic accuracy

In situations that matter, my psychic accuracy is actually pretty good - but those sorts of situations are not the ones you find in online surveys aimed at measuring how psychic you are, and I did one of those this morning.

One of the exercises involved predicting which of several photos would appear in a window, and while doing that, I noticed that I often had two impressions, and chose the wrong one more often than not. And at that point, although there were other factors which I will also mention, one of the outcomes of being raised in the 60s by parents who believed in discipline (rarely physical) and of being an undiagnosed AuDHDer at school and in social situations, was that I had wound up with a crippling self doubt which often results in me second guessing myself, and the second guesses are often wrong - and I still have that, despite my personal growth work, perhaps partly because of subsequent trauma/complex trauma/PTSD from various circumstances (especially bigotry)

It has been quite a few years since I acknowledged that, and i suspect I have just opened up a whole can of work for myself ... and I'm not sure it is solvable in this life.

Ah well - I will discuss it with my counsellor 😊

The other factors are the effects of disinterest on the ADHD brain - or, more accurately, the ADHD parts of my brain.

Having just read

“Scientists Just Confirmed What I’ve Been Saying for Thirty Years About the ADHD Brain”   https://www.hunterinafarmersworld.com/p/scientists-just-confirmed-what-ive   “And boredom, for the Hunter brain, is not a character flaw. It is a physiological state, as real and as measurable as hunger”

I am now aware that boredom - and, I suggest, disinterest - cause the ADHD brain to more or less “go to sleep”, and I could actually notice that today as I worked my way through the online questionnaire.

With that multiple choice of photo exercise, when I relaxed, kept the brain engaged, and took my time, my accuracy improved (and I also noticed that sometimes the two options I found myself considering might for instance, both be of birds [with no other bird photos available], or both share a distinct feature).

When I was learning in the 80s, I was taught “always go with your first impression”, but I know from other times I have tested my sensing (e.g., with word puzzles that I like), the second impression is often more likely to be correct.

And following this morning’s realisation, if I am self sabotaging myself, that would explain why I find determining differences in energy (to identify external, malicious influences, as opposed to internal or external beneficial influences) impossible: both may have came from me ...

It's a challenge to find a solution to this - the survey I did was part of a course aimed at improving confidence in such matters, so I may find a solution there, but, if not, I'll have a long term project ...

Possible flaws

Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:

  • there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan  Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”
  • I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our MÓ•gan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).

Post No. 3,371 - The spiritual changes signified by the Sex Discrimination Act (1984) of Australia

In 1984, Australia adopted the Sex Discrimination Act

Although this is interpreted as banning discrimination against women, and that was the main aim of the Act, it is worded carefully to ban any form of discrimination based on sex - and that definition has been updated (particularly in 2013) to included the better, more correct understandings of gender and gender identity.

Most legal cases have been to seek better outcomes for women, including transwomen, but there have also, if I recall correctly, cases where men in professions dominated by women sought fairer conditions for them.

Overall, unfortunately, the patriarchy (especially those men who deny they are the puppets of a patriarchy that they so clearly are) has been successful at limiting the gains by women - and much of that, IMO, is because the norms and legal mores around responses to such legal action have shied away from acknowledging the reality that, no matter how firmly bigots try to delude themselves and others, they cannot keep a hate secret in their heart and hide it by minor adaptations to their outer behaviour: their hate leaks out.

Hopefully the recently introduced requirement around positive duty will help to remedy that, but there is an important spiritual effect that goes with the creation of the SDA, and that is:

the call for women to overcome the patriarchy taught and induced suppression of strength and capability into a subservient, or “test men against patriarchal notions of fitness despite modern life”, puerile state of being.

As Jane  Elliott, who developed the brown eyes/blue eyes exercise, wrote:

“Females, get over ‘cute’. Get competent. Get trained. Get capable. Get over ‘cute’. And those of you who are called Patty and Debby and Suzy, get over that. Because we use those names to infantalise females – we keep females in their ‘little girl’ state by the names we use for them. Get over it. If you want to be taken seriously, get serious.”

There are still quite serious blocks against equal participation by women, all trans people and nonbinary people in society, but surrendering in advance by accepting these crippling misconceptions into our being and our very sense of self is NOT helping us to overcome those blocks.

It is also worth having a look at my latest SubStack post:
