Post No. 992 - More reflections

I thought I’d take a moment to celebrate a small personal milestone: I have now set up what will eventually be a century of monthly reminders for the Hope, Peace, Love and Prosperity spell – yay!

Of course, I will probably eventually need to find someone else to keep the blog active enough to keep it going, but then, I also have to find someone to pass on the stuff that I can’t blog about – and there is a little of that. I haven’t found anyone suitable so far, and, as a digression, when I look at the number of people who demonstrate their inherent untrustworthiness through things like breaking road rules while driving, being arrogant/aggressive on the road, not being as ethical as they can be in all situations (I’ve even come across large groups of people who sign confidentiality forms in the workplace because “everyone else does”), and so on and so forth.

Still, I know that there are a lot of worthy people “out there”, doing what they can to make the world a better place – being ethical, etc. I hope everyone who is trying to help make the world a better place realises that, even if they don’t know or see these other people face to face, they do exist. One of the things that means is, when we can’t do something because of life (e.g., I’ve mentioned work interruptions from time to time, but are also family situations I am helping with [and have helped with in the past] – including helping to temporarily – very temporarily, I hope :) – re-house a VERY annoying, VERY intrusive and VERY presumptuous/disruptive young relative … [at least they’re staying out of my personal space and leaving my possessions alone, this time), we can remember there are others doing this as well (and don't be a tool and doubt their capacity or skill without having ever had any contact or evidence), so attend to what you must, and then just join back in when can.

That is also one of the reasons I occasionally point out instances where my Psychic Weather Report assessments so clearly that others have been active.

The matters we are working on are urgent, but in a long term sense – there is not the same urgent, short commitment required as there is with matters such as the deadlines shown the film “Hidden Figures” (which I like for many reasons, including the urging to “look BEYOND the numbers to what they mean”, which all engineers should do … ).

I apologise for publishing these posts twice, but Blogger keeps changing my formatting. I can either publish it and then correct it, or save and close the post and correct it when I reopen it, but that leaves an extra copy in my "drafts" folder ...

Post No. 829 - the crime of accepting too much rubbish

I actually used a much stronger term when I thought of this post, but I still don't have the age filter on, so "rubbish" will do.

As an example of what I am talking about, consider this blog. It is possible to earn money from this, by allowing ads to be posted on it. Now, there's a few fundamental problems with that, such as whether one wants to annoy readers, and that the amathiacs who set those things up probably think advertising neochristianity would be acceptable on this blog because it is "spiritual" (which view would emphasise the amathia, as far as I am concerned), but the killer for me is:

I am expected to know the contact details of every single person who looks at my blog, so that I can personally make sure that every single person who clicks on an ad is genuinely considering a purchase when they click.

It's utterly absurd (there MUST be a legal case against this on the grounds of unreasonable conditions) - I know how many people visit from a nation, and that's about it. I don't know ANY contact details of people visiting - unless they email me. I know Dylan Winter at Keep Turning Left got into trouble on this issue (he has posted somewhere about it), and wound up losing a substantial amount of his family's income. In my case, as I cannot agree to a condition that I cannot fulfil, I have never signed up for the ads (and there are the other two concerns as well, but this is the main one). If I could be bothered, I'd make a complaint to the Consumer Affairs Department - and if I had a sensible way of contacting Blogger on this issue, I'd ask them outright for their advice as to how I should comply with this condition.

Before anyone cuts in with the obvious, yes, I am fully aware that this is probably intended as a tool to give Blogger, shall we say, "management options".

That does NOT make it right, or EVEN ACCEPTABLE!

How do you think this would have gone if no-one took uup the advertising option because they didn't know how they could comply with that condition?

I'd hazard a guess that a more sensible, fair and realistic condition would have been adopted. 

Recently on facebook there have been fusses about being able to use the name by which one is best known, rather than one's legal name. Well,

every

single

one

of those people who got into trouble signed up using their non-legal name - making, incidentally, as far as I am concerned, their word on anything utterly meaningless from now on.

How would it have been if more people objected to facebook doing that, and gathering all sorts of information they have NO right to? 

Again, if enough people had declined or fussed over that condition, it would have been changed at an early stage. Enough early objectors would have prevented quite a few of the other problems that facebook is associated with as well.

However, facebook didn't have to worry about anything, because there were so many people who were desperate to "be part of the latest fad", or who had a "fear of missing out" (FOMO), or just didn't care about ethics.

I'm sadly part of something similar, with a real estate agent asking for information that he has no right to nor need of (and has possibly verged close to deceptive conduct, in my view), but we need somewhere to live so have to bloody go along with the **** or live on the streets (I'll be writing a letter to my local MPs about this in the not too distant future) - and I ****ing loathe myself for it, for sacrificing the principle of doing WHAT IS RIGHT.

Every single one of the amathiacs I have mentioned above - including myself - is ACTIVELY, directly, CONTRIBUTING energy to

every
single
unethical problem

in the world - from cheating politicians thought those who cheat on their taxes and those who steal from work to political fraud, deception and embezzlement - and every instance of doing something for hidden motives.

We need more people to make some sort of effort to be prepared to go without if the conditions of having something are spiritually or ethically unacceptable (and I include the environment in that, as I look at ridiculously over sized houses which would have been better trading some of that size and flashiness for more substantial (possibly non-flammable) walls.

While I'm having this whinge, I also consider people rush into complicating their loves too much with social engagements - but if they didn't do so, I suppose they'd have to fill up some of the empty spaces with things like thinking, and that would be too terrible to contemplate.

• If your “gut” (your instinct/intuition) is telling you something is wrong, but logic and the available evidence is saying otherwise, the proper conclusion to draw is that you need better, more personally credible evidence. Your “gut” could be wrong, right, or missing the nuances / “shades of grey” . So could the available evidence.

Post No. 694 - Mind your Mӕgan

I accumulate bits and pieces for reading posts - and, unfortunately, tend to forget how much I've accumulated until there is too much for a good length post. Be that as it may, one of those pieces I've accumulated is the following:

• this is interesting. I may have to use integrity (although that can sound like a business w***) or ethics (which can sound like an academic w***), or some other word … in fact, having looked into this, I will use the word mӕgan, pronounced MY-an, from Alaric Albertsson’s 2^nd book, “Wyrdworking: the Path of a Saxon Sorcerer” (pp. 13 – 14) rather than honour (mӕgan is a quality that is diminished by acts that are, in the modern sense, dishonourable – and by breaking one’s word, which doesn’t seem to be considered dishonourable these days, and replenished by acts which are, in the modern sense, honourable – and by keeping one’s word. It is also apparently, more essential – according to Mr Albertsson - for magick than willpower [willa] or knowledge [hyge - conscious thought, pronounced HU-yeh] or wód [inspiration]): http://godsandradicals.org/2015/04/20/honor-i-dont-think-that-word-means-what-you-think-it-means/;

Now, there are a few concepts here that I would like to cover (to make sure I get them correct - in future incarnations when I hopefully come across this blog as much as now, and "future-me" is the ultimate audience of all that I do on this blog):

• Önd or Öd - according to Wikipedia [2] (and, to some extent, Wiktionary), a type of universal force, also termed "Odic force", possibly akin to what was intended by the Star Wars fictive mythology of "the Force". My friend Tony, RMFTB *, describes it as meaning literally "vital, or divine, breath";
• Orlay, from Orlӕg, or Ørlög - often described as "fate", or wyrd, but described by Mr Albertsson (there is a very good chapter, "Honour and Wyrd", on this in Mr Albertsson's first book, "Travels through Middle Earth: the path of a Saxon Pagan" - including a brilliant illustration of the difference between honour and morality using an Aunt Maggie's dress) as the summation of all the actions and words that have shaped a person, including things like adoption. Tony sums this up as "individual fate or wyrd", and this page describes it as the "path of choice", as opposed to wyrd being the "path of fate" (and something termed "hamingja", being the path of luck; see also here);
• Wyrd - according to MF Tony, "Fate of the individual. The action and reaction of events". See also Wikipedia's definition here, and also Urðr.

Against that backdrop, as stated above, "mӕgan is a quality that is diminished by acts that are, in the modern sense, dishonourable – and by breaking one’s word, which doesn’t seem to be considered dishonourable these days, and replenished by acts which are, in the modern sense, honourable – and by keeping one’s word. So, from now, rather than talking about honour (except where circumstances make that a much simpler way to have a conversation), I will try to refer to "mind your mӕgan".

• Neither eloquence nor inarticulateness inherently indicates correctness, but, as words can kill, the right to freedom of speech comes with a DUTY to be as well-informed, objective and balanced as you can be.
• Gnwmythr's Stropping Strap: Occam's Razor only works if  the simplest solution is actually recognised as being the simplest, rather than the one that best fits one's bigotries being labelled 'simplest'.
• I mourn the desecration of the term 'Light Worker' by commercial interests, and the warping of the word 'Light' away from 'Clear Light' by the "(Fluffy) White Lighters".
• Presuming that everyone has, or wants, a smartphone is discriminatory, unspiritual, and downright stupid.
• Obsessive love may be a cover up of guilt.
• Proxy embarrassment is both a form of control, and an internal barrier to truth, honesty and perspicacity.
• Our entire life experience, with all the many wondrous and varied people, places and events in it, is too small a sample for statistical reliability about Life.
• Notwithstanding the greatness of exploring the world and humanity, the greatest exploration is of mind, spirit and Soul.
• May the world of commerce and business be recognised to be a servant, not a master, of the lives of people.
• Life is not a struggle for status.
• Being accustomed to interacting via certain rules makes those rules neither right nor universal.
• Like fire to the physical, emotions to the soul make a good servant, and a bad master.

• My favourite action movie of all time is "Gandhi", although I've recently come across "Invictus" and might put that one in to that category.
