Post No. 481 - Public Talk on "Why Are We Here?", Safe Travels and Containment/Prevention of Bushfires Ritual

I gave another public talk today at the Spiritualist place I go to - this one at slightly longer notice, as the original lecturer was ill, but at short enough notice that I couldn't prepare written notes. I'll give a précis of the talk shortly, but first a couple of other points.

Firstly, "Safe Travels". It is probably fairly obvious that safety of travel is something I have concerns about, and yet I recently came undone on exactly that issue. I prepared some little copper designs for someone to stabilise the energy in a particular area for the purposes of safe travel. When she collected them, she asked about taking them as cabin luggage or checked luggage, and I said "checked" (they're metal, after all). The problem was, the airline lost her luggage ...

Now, I have to admit, for some reason I had thought she would be driving, not flying, so I rather suspect the protection I had set up subconsciously was based on driving, and I didn't think to set up protection for a trip by plane.

My partner always says "Safe travels", and I think I'll have to get into making sure I say and think and set up that, not only for clients, but also for the objects I make them ...

In this particular case, we've worked out a way round the problem, but whichever airline it was is currently my least favourite :(

Next, we've currently got a major bushfire problem in New South Wales. I lit my usual candles for managing / preventing bushfires and bushfire related loss, injury and death, and then found I hadn't actually posted a ritual for this. Well, I have now. If you would like to try that, it is located at http://gnwmythr.blogspot.com.au/2010/07/containment-putting-out-management.html.

For those of you who are joining me in tonight's meditation, it would be appreciated if you could add sending some healing and calming-of-nature energy to the New South Wales bushfires in the Blue Mountains and elsewhere ...

Now, my talk.

In essence it was:
  • what is the purpose of having a physical level of Reality?
  • answers that the physical exists to show beauty and variety are, despite the undoubted beauty and variety of the physical, not applicable as exactly the same applies  in the astral;
  • answers that it is for experience, learning, growth and "becoming all that one can be"  don't explain the matter, as these all continue to happen in the astral and other non-physical levels of reality;
  • similarly, answers based on learning to (spiritually) love are also not an answer, as that also happens in the astral etc;
  • if we look at the characteristics of the astral, what we perceive as "distance" in the physical is replaced by closeness / harmony of basic being (or, if you prefer, similarity of fundamental frequency), which means it is harder to be in the presence of disharmony when you are in the astral  hence, being loving and dedicated to growth is easier;
  • in the physical, you can find yourself in the presence of people who are different, or not in harmony with you, and thus learning to spiritually love them is harder even though there is not necessarily anything "wrong" with them - and, as a result, the growth you make is better.
If I'd had time to prepare, I would probably have also pointed out that one can get a greater appreciation of the variety of the Universe in the physical, as one can also see those bits of reality that are so out-of-harmony that you would never have known them possible if you stayed in the astral  which is actually different to the first answer in the dot points above.

OK, I'm going to leave this post at that - I have family matters to attend to, now. "See" some of you in an hour or so :)

Post No. 472 - Ban the dream interpretation industry ... and speculation on "humours"

Nice, provocative title, isn't it - "ban the dream interpretation industry"? (I added the bit about humours later, after I had started this ...) Of course, I am rather reluctant to ban anything, but I DO consider that the ubiquitous idiotic bloody notion that dreams (see here and here [2] for more on dreams) are "messages from our subconscious" (see here and here [2]) needs to be reined in.

Dreams are mostly garbled memories of astral travel (see here and here [2] and here, and quite a few places in Lobsang Rampa's books).

We are ALL more than just blood and bone and electrical impulses: we also have a non-physical body (well, several, actually), and when we sleep, not only do the body recharge and the brain reset (is that like the urban myth of having to turn smart phones off once a week? :) ), our spirit renews itself by going back to the astral - well, those who have evolved before a bare minimum do at any rate.

The ubiquitous view that dreams are not that actively ROBS us of so much of our birthright -  not just the chance to sensibly use precognition (which I have written about elsewhere  see here, here), but also the chance to develop lucid dreaming (see here and here: it basically means becoming aware of the fact that you are dreaming while you are dreaming, and thus being able to direct your "dream"), and thus exercise and develop a key part of our psychic potential, the part that will be most directly used when we pass over. And how stupid it is to pass that opportunity over.

Naropa talks of what can be done here in one of his yoga's (see here [2] and here), as does Joan Grant in her books (particularly "Winged Pharaoh"), but also Katherine  Kerr's book "The Black Raven", which I am currently reading, hints at the work required to master working with your dreams.

And maybe that's the problem - the work. We are a lazy lot, generally, and someone saying "hey it's OK, you don't have to do anything, just listen/read this and this is what it all means"(i.e. - dream interpretation - which I have NEVER encountered with ANY sort of statement or inference that something needs to be done) is probably going to have wider appeal than someone saying "hey, that actually means something significant, and things may NOT be OK, so you might have to get off your backside and do something about something" - which is what this and my related posts are about. (Post Script - maybe that is why so many people have a problem accepting things like psychic attack ... the world is a simpler, less scary place if all you have to focus on is your own growth needs, rather than also taking into consideration the fact that we all impact on each other - not just for bad, also for good - and, at higher levels of reality, we really are all connected together ... )

On that point of work, don't forget: tonight (i.e. Sunday) at 9 PM (my apologies - the 9-30 PM was in error) your time, let's meditate on peace.

I've added the main topic of this post to my signature block, in the "provocative quotations" section.

There's another topic from Katherine  Kerr's book "The Black Raven" that I am thinking about: that of the ancient idea of "humours" in relation to health. This goes back to the Ancient Greek (and older) idea of the world being created from four elements, which seems to be the basis of the four worldly elements (plus aether) used in much modern Western magickal work (also see here, and follow the discussions through), but was also used in medicine up to the Middle Ages (see here, and here). Now, there is no doubt in my mind that modern medicine addresses physical health FAR better than medical theory from a few hundred years ago, but I wonder if there is something from the humours theory of medicine that could be applied to the health of our etheric body? After all, I consider that to be where our meridians are mainly connected to, and the Asian idea of the five elements (see here, here, here and here) explains what is happening with those quite well ...

Just another thought :)

Don't forget: tonight, 9 PM (my apologies - the 9-30 PM was in error).

  • One of the basics of serious spiritual / psychic work is that the greatest work is that which we do on ourself, which seems trivial to many. Our own Innermost Essence, which is our Higher Self / Soul / Spirit, has the power to do so much, and is actively participating in the creation and sustenance of this physical reality. Some mote of our conscious or unconscious knows that, which is why we seem inclined to be dismissive of Self Mastery - which is a bit like the child who sees an adult spending money to buy toys, and fails to recognise the daily grind of work which has led to having the money.

Post No. 440 - The Magical Battle of Melbourne, Australia and Humanity

By the way, for those who would like to contribute to this project by lighting on-line candles, I have created shrines over at the nshrine site

Some time ago, I reviewed  Dion Fortune's book "The Magical Battle of Britain". I'm now rereading that, and it is prompting some thought, which has crystallised a little after a dream last night.

First, let me "define" a few terms/concepts:
  • much as we are more than just a physical, we are also more than consciousness: we also have our unconscious (or subconscious, if you prefer: I understand shrinks also talk about preconscious), which I consider is likely to be those parts of our self that are our parallels or soul parts, our Higher Self, and so on and so forth [3];
  • there is a concept that we are all one: this is actually fairly complex, as we are also - at this level - also all truly individual and unique, but we share a string of connections to Higher Selves and ultimately to the Goddess: one of the ways that connectedness is realised on our level of reality is through what Jung refers to as "the collective unconscious"; another is through the mind and soul of various groups we are members of (see here [2] );
  • the group soul, which could arguably be considered to be akin to the unconscious of a group, and is more difficult to change;
  • group mind, which is more changeable, and equates more to the social mood of a group;
  • we can have an effect through non-physical means - i.e., through psychic means, which can be either beneficial or harmful (and I chose to interpret those terms as the BPF [1] do, in a spiritually mature manner).
What Dion Fortune describes is using psychic means to bring spiritual forces down from higher frequency levels of reality to the astral and etheric levels (or planes) of reality (or existence). The energy being channelled was aimed at giving those in Britain (not just the British) and her allies the strength of character, morale and spiritual backing necessary to resist and then defeat the evils of Nazi Germany.

Where I got to last night, Dion Fortune was discussing the effects of loss of morale in those nations invaded by Germany, and describes how it was determined that this was due to harmful psychic influences. It all brought to mind the evils of John Howard [2] playing up the fears of Australians, particularly around asylum seekers/refuges, in the 90s. that evil is something I am still working against, physically (letters to politicians, mostly) and non-physically - using techniques a little similar, in principle to What Dion Fortune and her group were doing (and see also here, and here).

Then we come to last night's dream, which was of working on the foundations of a massive building. As an engineer, I know that the foundations of a building can take as much effort as what is above the ground, and that's the sense I had. It explains (again, I'll admit) that I'm acting partly (our life's purpose is a manifold thing) to help do the behind-the-scenes changes that will lead to a better world down the track. (It also explains that I'm also helping to bring ideas from the astral into the physical, which can take a certain amount of effort to overcome the resistance of those who don't want change - and the masters of those people, in some cases [4]. I've  had half a dozen potentially patentable ideas, and have had to watch as others did patent them in a couple of cases. My frustration at that led me to "give up" and create a blog where I could post my ideas, but I don't have the time to keep up with what keeps coming through :) )

So ... what am I going to do now?

Well, I'm going to continue with all the other goals, such as writing ideas and concepts that I know others - possibly with more time and resources than I - are also working on, with my teaching and healing, with my personal development ... and I'm going to modify what I loosely call "my meditation work" to include projecting images to various group minds.

Now, when I started working with psychic matters, as a teenager back in the 70s (Goddess - I was a teenager last century!), I didn't know about visualisation, so I used to just will peace, love and joy to the world, as I did Lobsang Rampa's alternate nostril breathing exercises. It was actually great practice for me at developing the use of my will, but I was very relieved to find out how to use visualisation - it made what I was trying to do much easier. In exactly the same way, finding out how Dion Fortune's group used visualisation has given me a direction on how to improve work on changing group minds: use symbols.

Of course, I'm a pagan, not a Christian, as Dion Fortune effectively was, so I'm going to use the technique I am most familiar and comfortable with: runes - specifically, bind runes. I will create a bind rune for each purpose, then after I've done my colour breathing etc, I'll combine part of my breathing work with projecting these images to the various group minds I can work with.

In case any others would like to be part of this work (invoking Yesod can help, if you know how to work with the Qabbalah), I'll post the designs as I complete them on this post. They might even be part of the next batch of tattoos I get ... if I can work out where I'm going to fit them :)

To the group mind of all humanity:
self reliance (which is a marvellous source of growth and personal development, apart from being a brilliant manifestation of true spirituality), responsibility (which is also a nice practical and real application of spirituality - especially around the lessons of agape, compassion, which I decided not to include as so many others are focused on them ... albeit possibly in an immature way ... ) and maturity (my first design for this project, which has been subsequently revised; peace was also a strong contender ... see here, for instance)

To the group mind of all Australians:
perspicacity, self discipline (too much focusing on partying and being drunk here - see this post, for instance) and welcoming (which is to overcome our xenophobia and racism, although anything which would counter the fear that Howard engendered would be useful; see also here)

To the group mind of all Melbournites / Sydneyites:
spirituality, slowing (I think cities are too crowded for wellbeing, and the pace of our life is, in general excessive - see, for instance, here, and here, here) and civility (which is partly inspired by the problems I encounter when travelling on the roads, especially at this time of the year - see, for instance, here)

PS - I stopped reading Dion Fortune's book when she started rabbiting on about how the struggle was between nice Christianity and nasty paganism. What utter rubbish.

PPS - my next Group Mind and bindrune project is about the Australian Parliaments, based on the use of the following - more to come :)

[3] This also could lead into another topic we were discussing in the development group I am a sitter in: projections from people who are incarnate, such as perhaps former family members who have subsequently reincarnated yet still come back to greet former family members who pass over. How?
    Confused? Let me explain :)
    Let's say person A dies in 1985, and is reincarnated in 1995. In 2010, person B, who was related to A in A's former incarnation that ended in 1985, dies. Person A can still appear to Person B in the image they had when they were Person A. This can occur as:

  • the astral is very malleable, and basically follows our thought, so people tend to appear as they wish to (or, if they forget to think of clothes, without clothes - and hence the uncomfortable dreams some have when they forget to think of being clothed while in the astral :) Others aren't bothered by such trivialities). Thus, the astral of Person separates -or, more accurately, likely, part of the astral of Person A separates - from where Person A's physical body is, perhaps at the request of a BPF Guide, and travels to where Person B is dying. Thinking of the life in which Person A knew person B, Person A will resume the image by which Person B knew them.
  • this is termed bilocation, and can be done consciously (it is a part of the Wiccan training I had, which began with "exteriorisation of the chakras"). Ever feel distracted, or wonder what happens when you're day dreaming? One answer is (that it could be) bilocation (there are other possibilities). This is something that grounding, or more properly, centering and grounding, aims to get under control when it is not deliberate - which is often known by the term "doppelganger", although that may also involve a degree of manifestation [2]
     (I'll also thank my Cariad for giving me the example to express all that *mwa )

[4] Look up the topic "control" on this blog - for instance, here, here and here. And maybe here, and here, here, here, here, here, and here, which are all relevant to this post anyway.

Post No. 431 - Spirit rescue: some further thoughts

I'm not normally overwrought by many of the rescues I do (I've encountered a lot, experienced a lot [especially when I was a physical rescue medium, as discussed elsewhere on this blog, and have reached a point where not much gets to me), but I woke this morning emotional from a rescue of ... a baby animal.

Now, I am very well aware that my conscious mind may be rationalising, and the baby may actually have been human, but whatever it was, the experience was both moving, and unusual. The unusual element is related to technical aspects of the rescue, as there were three of us, and each one of us took an aspect of the baby over - breath (Önd, I think, in the Norse system), spirit and mind, where they were then brought back together. I think I took Önd ...

Hmmmm. Quite a bit to sort out there ...

One other thought that comes to mind on this is that of changing frequency. Most people seem to need elaborate, and very indirect visualisations to accomplish this. Tools used may include visualising light of different colours (thus triggering associations of changing frequency), or even things like stairs/ladders. Me, I just make an effort of will. ... maybe the ability I have to do so is something that goes with being a world walker, although who knows which came first.

It's worth thinking about, the fact that there may be easier and more direct ways of doing things (particularly psychic/spiritual things, of course), AND the fact that many of the things we use or work with are actually indirect tools - just as, for example, fiddling with the tuning knob on a radio (now buttons on most radios!) doesn't directly change the frequency that the radio is tuned to, it changes the electrical resistance of some of the circuitry that is connected to the knob/button, and it is the changed resistance that effects the change of tuning ...

Post No. 422 - The Importance of a Bright Aura

I've been thinking, as I read, rest and try to recuperate, about our auras.

When I started my training, back in the 80s, managing the aura was an important part of the training - hence what I was taught about what we then called flaming, and what I now, to be clear, should get into the habit of calling "psychic flaming" - actually, even that could be misinterpreted: I better term this ... auric flaming (see the attachments to this post for more on that). Now, the emphasis seems to have shifted to chakras, and has lost a great deal as a result.

As I see it, chakras are where those parts of us that exist on other planes of existence manifest into this physical (and the etheric) reality; they help to sustain and activate us here, including to help us form a physical body. In the etheric level, just higher in frequency than the physical and lower in frequency than the astral levels (yes, plural), our energetic existence is largely in the same shape. For convenience, or perhaps out of laziness, our astral existence tends to also replicate the shape of whatever body we have for that incarnation. As we get further up the frequency tree, however, we tend to become more an amorphous shape of energy - a ball of light, is how I've seen it (first happened during one of my few moments of objective clairvoyance). The increasing "size" (a perception based on the increased energy of those higher levels of reality) and shapelessnes/sphericality of us as we move up the frequency tree, tends to lead to the shape of the aura, with it's multiple layers, the outer layers being more circular and more diffuse at this level than those closer to the surface of the body, where the discrepancy in frequency is less, and thus the perceivable presence is clearer. Net result? An egg shape with sometimes difficult to distinguish boundaries ..

Maybe that is one of the reasons that people have started working with chakras - irrespective of what level of reality your perception and psychic activity tends towards, at least everyone can agree where a chakra is, whereas with auras ... well, consider the situation where someone whose perception and activity is at, say, the mental level trying to instruct someone whose focus is at the astral level: teach says "close your aura", student does so at astral level, which teach either doesn't see or doesn't think is important, and says student hasn't done so, whereas student, who doesn't know enough to ... well, er, recognise the importance (or possibly even the existence) of other levels, say, gets all huffy at having done what they think think is a good job and being told off.

Of course, the real solution there is to start dealing with all those levels, but that's a bit of a distraction from my main point here (as is the cats having just knocked down a precarious stack of CDs :( ). At the very least, I consider that we should be acknowledging the existence and importance of auras. They're a key part, after all, of our psychic sensing, an integral part of our being and a major part of our interaction with the world.

That's one of the reasons I;m resting now - my energetic interactions via my aura have not been so good of late.

And that led me to thinking, and heading back towards a conclusion I mad back in my 20s: maybe the most important thing we can do in life, more important than any religious path, more important than any psychic development or learning, more important than an human rights activism or humanitarianism we do, is to get our auras to be as bright a source of positive energy as we can.

It means not necessarily calling on "greater" (stronger) powers than oneself, which can be limiting in terms of what one accomplishes, but that may make the risk of errors, of accidntally doing harm, less likely.

It also means that those who do wish to do harm would find themselves being blocked by more and more little balls of light ... and that's gotta be a good thing :) It certainly can, from my experience, be a good thing.

It's so important, maybe I should start a new movement: the Pathway of the Bright Aura ...

nah, just kidding :)

Post No. 421 - Can one be too positive?

It probably seems a strange question to people who are trying to grow spiritually: can one be to positive? It would seem to be obvious that the answer should be "no, it is not possible to be too positive" - but what is that scares off people you are trying to help (this doesn't relate to me, by the way!)? I think I've posted once about someone who set up protection around themselves in a shop, and an unhappy looking woman moved away from the person and glared at them - obviously wanting to hang on to her pain rather than let it go.

I was thinking about this while I enjoyed a nice, cleansing, full of positive energy shower this morning, and how people who have been taken to higher energy realms - MUCH higher energy - have sometimes found it difficult. Obviously they have blocks to energy flows, as all of us do, but what if one could let go of those blocks and allow the higher energy to flush one's chakras, channels and energy bodies ("auras") out? It would be one way to get a much higher capacity to channel energy ...

Of course, returning to the relatively lower energy realm that is this world would be more painful ...

What would stop someone in that situation doing that - letting go and allowing higher energy to flush one out? Fear of loss of self identity (I kid you not - some people do thing spiritually evolved people have no fun [true - they don't get smashed out of their brains every Friday or Saturday night .. they don't want to, 'cos their brains are a very nice place to be in, than you very much :) ]; others think spiritually evolved people are "all the same" - and such people obviously are so stupid [or lacking in LIFE EXPERIENCE that they consider only flaws and faults to differentiate people, and they cannot see that "good" characteristics do include variety and uniqueness)? Thinking that one must go through a certain ritual or series of events, or be paid a certain price (e.g. acknowledgement) before one can let go?

It was an interesting speculation, good food for thought perhaps.

I've come across some reading links that are also possibly good food for thought:

First, from the blog site of "the Odinic Rite in Australia":
The next set of links come out of some research I was doing at work, when I came across the site of an organisation called "Consultancy Africa Intelligence", which is largely about business information (who is planning on spending money on projects, for instance), but also had some interesting blog posts:
For those of you who follow the Gregorian calendar [2], if you celebrate the end of the year, be safe.

Post No. 399 - Sain bain uu

Well, I’m back, and I’ve survived.

Didn’t know I’d been way, did you? :) Hah! Silence at this end doesn’t always mean laziness … or that life has been overwhelming … or that I have blogger’s block … or that my PC has broken down and I can’t beg or borrow access to another … or that I’ve been abducted by aliens – well, you get the picture :)

Well, I have – been away, I mean: a work trip to the Gobi Desert [1] (incidentally, the comment in that link about worries about desertification of the Gobi being fallacious because the Gobi is already a desert [1] is absolute rubbish: deserts are all different, and they are NOT all sand dunes- where I was actually had quite a bit of low, scrubby growth, as do many deserts in Australia - they just have less than 250mm of rain!) in Mongolia [1]. Being a sh*t farmer par excellence has its – surprising – advantages. (To see some photos of the Gobi, see my shrine http://nshrine.com/shrine/Special_Places_The_Great_.)

Mind you, I had the usual hassles with international travel because I don’t look and sound “normal”, and the airport security in Mongolia had been set so sensitively that the metal clips in my bra strap set the blasted walk through detectors off, … but I won’t go into all that here. Suffice to say I am at the stage where I am thinking seriously of giving up international travel until security becomes rational (by which I mean, as expounded by Bruce Schneier).Mind .. you, I liked the description of the "self help" books in Hong Kong as "self enhancement", and I think the description of coffee with milk in it as "brown" rather than "white" is very apt .

Anyway, the Gobi was marvellous – and I loved the sound of the Mongolian language (I can only say hello – sain uu, or for formal situations [like talking to my boss there!] sain bain uu, and thank you, which seems to be pronounced either baililu or baiklu), and liked the local people I was working with. (I’ve changed the spellings of these slightly to match what an English speaker would expect.)

Unfortunately, I didn’t get much exposure to Mongolian culture – partly because the trip was organised in a rush, and partly because of the demands of the work (as usual, there was no time for tourism), but, on that, it should be noted that Mongolia is a slowly modernising culture: you won’t find a lot of people living traditionally in gers (the Mongolian version of yurts, featuring a slightly different construction) although quite a few poorer people in Ulaanbaatar live in gers, lacking heating, water, sewerage, susceptible to floods, etc.

The work was, however, as usual on these sorts of trips, intense, with 15 hour plus days and the sheer fact of having to take in a lot of information and the pressure of having to make the best decision in a very short time, and as I start writing this I am in Hong Kong airport, aching, psychically overloaded and unutterably exhausted. Public transport of any sort is difficult for many psychically/emotionally/mentally sensitive people, and combine that with things like security people putting their hands on you, the cramped space in a plane (any sleep I get there is never good), the type of frenetic energy in airports, the hassles of being part of the LGBTI communities, and I am going to crash in a big way when I finally get home.

In fact, my partner and I have planned for that, and even my boss (technically, Boss No. 2 – I answer to a few people … ) agreed to me taking some time off for recovery, bless ‘is cotton socks.

Anyway, I did some experimenting this morning, as I – and a few dozen others, some airline staff, and a plane - flew from Ulaanbaatar (which reminds me of Há Nôi in the 90s) to HK (Goddess but everyone seems to love acronyms – it was never “Ulaanbaatar”, it was always “UB”, for instance; HK = Hong Kong). What I did was focus on my use of chakras, as follows:
  • each chakra is connected to a level of reality;
  • each chakra acts a little like a radio receiver, receiving energy from that level and changing it so it can be manifested into this physical level of reality, through the chakra;
  • each chakra can be connected to the others;
  • I found the levels where I was feeling most overwhelmed (that of the lower astral, which corresponds with the “me” focused emotions of the solar plexus chakra), and then drew energy to that chakra from other levels (via the corresponding chakra) to reinforce the skin of my aura on that level, after making sure that I had contributed energy from each chakra/level to the shield/skin of my aura.
Hmm. That might make a little more sense if I review a few fundamental principles. I know – I’m an engineer, I can make a table! And draw a diagram!! Yay, me!!!

The diagram will come later, but I can put in the table now ...

What terminology do you wish to use, Dear Reader? I personally would use something like Higher Self, Atman, Spirit.
This chakra, from Katrina Raphael’s writings in her wonderful crystal books, is located 300mm (12 inches) above the head, and is described as being to connect us to world of spirit generally.

This chakra enables us to connect to the Universe.
I visualise either the concept of energy, and either enjoy the stillness or chant “Ain Sof Aur”.
Spirit Star
“Higher” soul
Soul
This chakra, from Katrina Raphael’s writings in her wonderful crystal books, is located 150mm (6 inches) above the head, and is described as being to connect us to world of spirit generally.

After this morning’s flight, I describe this as the “others” focused soul chakra.
No shape, just pure brilliance, an energy so bright its colour cannot be determined, and chant “Kether”.
Soul Star
“Lower” soul
Soul
This chakra, from Katrina Raphael’s writings in her wonderful crystal books, is located on the same level/height as the crown chakra, but behind that chakra (and outside the head), and is described as being the one that connects us to our Higher Self.

After this morning’s flight, I describe this as the “me” focused soul chakra.
No shape, just pure brilliance, an energy so bright its colour cannot be determined, and chant “Eheieh”.

“Higher” mental
Mental
After this morning’s flight, I describe this as the “others” focused psychic chakra, capable of giving intuition that can help others.
Purple lotus, chant “Aum”.

Governs things like clairvoyance. After this morning’s flight, I describe this as the “me” focused psychic chakra – but I’m still working this through!
An indigo six pointed star, chant “ah”.

Governs communication (including, oddly enough, clairaudience).

After this morning’s flight, I describe this as the “others” focused communication chakra
Light blue cup, chant “ha”.

This is one I’m deliberately aiming at developing myself, and is based on making it easier for to “speak from the heart”, or “speak my truth”.

Shocked? I consider you shouldn’t be – I think chakras are energy structures that have, are and will evolve.

After this morning’s flight, I describe this as the “me” focused communication chakra

Shirley Maclaine first commented on this chakra, to the effect that it is helping to unify heart and solar plexus, and is a chakra being developed by humanity.
Not covered in Bernard Gunther’s system: I visualise another mini-Earth, and draw in blue and green while chanting “Hum”.

I first came across this chakra in Katrina Raphael’s books on crystal. It is located in the aura, around 150mm (6 inches) below the feet. This chakra anchors us to the planet, and enables us to be connected to Her, and draw sustenance – including energy – from Her.
Not included in Gunther’s system.

I use blue, yellow, green and red-brown, arrange into a sphere – a mini-Earth, and chant either “Malkuth” or “Adonai”.

Notes:

  1. 1.       From "Energy Ecstasy: Your Seven Vital Chakras", by Bernhard Gunther (pub. Newcastle Publishing Co. Inc., Van Nuys, CA, USA, ISBN 0-87877-066-6). For more on how I use these, see http://gnwmythr.blogspot.com/2007/10/secret-science-of-hugs.html.
I’m still working on this, and have intention of upgrading my chakra workshop notes to incorporate it – and I’ll really be able to fine tune the description once I’ve run that workshop, and started to get some feedback.

Fairly clearly, there are also other chakras beyond our current knowledge …

Now, moving on to a few other matters, a few brief thoughts, mostly from altitudes above 35,000 feet above mean sea level …

Firstly, one of the reasons I hate watching dramas is that I actually find them incredibly violent films – the violence is verbal and emotional, rather than physical, but I consider the damage from such violence to be potentially FAR more devastating than physical violence. I would go so far as to say some who like such films (and I have some people from a couple of decades ago specifically in mind here) like them because they are more adept at such films than physical violence. It does NOT make them less violent, any more than people who use superior verbal skills to brow beat others into doing what they and not the others want are less violent than those who use a lump of wood to threaten people.

Next, while I was travelling, it occurred to me that Anglo-Saxons are still the most warlike of races - nowadays, though, this warlike-ness gets put into business & commerce.

Now, one of my favourite idle pastimes: labels. Although I am a pagan, I consider the best magickal tool to be the mind, and consider reliance on objects a potential weakness (doesn’t stop me making and using them, but I acknowledge that they are a second rate approach compared to the ideal of being able to do such work without such tools, which requires STRENGTH). It occurred to me, during my recent travels, that Raja Yoga is focused on developing the mind, so maybe I should describe my path as Raja Paganism, or Raja Wicca …

I probably won’t, but it gives me another useful perspective and way of thinking.

And finally, pentacles vs. pentagrams. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentacle [1]:

The words pentacle and pentagram (a five-point unicursal star) are essentially synonymous, according to the Online Oxford English Dictionary (2007 revision), which traces the etymology through both French and Italian back to Latin, but notes that in Middle French the word "pentacle" was used to refer to any talisman. In an extended use, many magical authors treat them as distinct. In many tarot decks and in some forms of modern witchcraft, pentacles often prominently incorporate a pentagram in their design.

There is a specific differentiation between pentacle and pentagram within Wicca and other re-constructionist systems. Namely, a pentacle refers to a pentagram circumscribed by a circle. This form of pentacle is formed upon a disk which may be used either upon an altar or as a sacred space of its own. The pentacle is representative of the Earth in occult usage.
