Post No. 449 - A Saturday morning's reflections ...

When I started down the path of serious use of psychic abilities (for the purpose of making the world a better place), I was told that it is not possible to use these powers for financial self gain.

Well, that's not quite true: I've never been able to use this for personal gain, other than charging people for some of the help I've given, so I haven't, for example, got any major lottery wins (hmmm ... actually, I can't recall even trying that one), but I've seen someone who was a gambling addict use, or try to use, a modest amount of psychic ability he had to influence the pokies. He had no major wins, but my impression is that he would occasionally have a minor win as a result of his efforts. (I also have seen, incidentally, two people lose their homes through the pokies, so I would not recommend trying this!)

I've also met people who have had wins at the pokies and on the lottery (same person - she bought a house with the first lottery win, and a house for her daughter with the second, but kept working - not enough won to give up that, and would continue to have occasional wins of a few thousand dollars on the pokies). She is not psychic, nor even particularly spiritual, so what gives?

Well, I think what gives is that people (a) get opportunbities sometimes as a test to see what they will do with them, and (b) sometimes seem to be very lucky as that is how they have chosen to have their (good) karma return to them. I'm happy to have my good karma return to me in the place and circumstances of my birth, etc, rather than through winning riches which may mean I later don't have enough good karma to prevent, say, a major cancer.

No doubt that winning karma could be useful, but getting a better job (less stress, rather than more money) would probably be more apt than a lotto win.

I still feel that use of any psychic ability to change the Universe so that I get money through a win would be wrong. In much the same way that I like candles to the rune Fehu for the financial well being of my family, perhaps it is a case of this being a test of other people's caring ... I am a little more inclined towards this being the same as the reason I don't interfere with the weather too much: if I, say, make it rain where I live, that may stop people who have a greater need for water from getting the rain they needed. If I actively manifest money for me through something like a lottery win, is that perhaps stopping a family where no-one has a job getting a much needed win for, perhaps, a child who has an illness?

There is an element of not being too focused on oneself here, which leads me to a very interesting post I came across recently on how to classify or explain paganism in terms of whether the focus is on the person, nature or the deities. Well worth a read: http://allergicpagan.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/the-three-or-more-centers-of-paganism/.

I have to say, sometimes I read some of these brilliant posts and feel somewhat intimidated about my own, ad hoc, patchy, casual, this-is-me-struggling-with-my-life-at-times blog ... ah well, that's nothing a block or two of chocolate won't fix :) Here are a few more links:

Now, I am working on a post which will be an alternative, pagan focused history of the world. I'm not quite done, and it will be a separate post, but here's what I've come up with so far:

Let's tell a history of the world ...

Once upon time Spirit / The Goddess decided to do some more learning / growing, for which more experience was necessary. The problem was that in "the void" / the astral, everything was in harmony - you were automatically close to those who were on the same wave length as yourself, and never came across anyone who was different. So, Spirit / The Goddess decided, in the interests of learning, to create a world where it was possible to be in the presence of those you were in disharmony with.

It was quite a novel concept, and, if it worked as intended, should strengthen the unity of the Universe / The Goddess, as all the disparate bits of the Universe / The Goddess would be better able to tolerate/accept and work with the other bits of the Universe / The Goddess. It would be quite a step forward for the disparate bits to even be aware of each other, for a start.

So Spirit / The Goddess went ahead and created this physical level of reality. It was a bit of a bang of an event, actually, but lets skip ahead to when one little part of this physical reality, the Planet Earth, was developing a bipedal organism with the capacity to shape the environment and, eventually, move off the planet and thus survive any future planetary killing asteroids. For reasons based on the nature of the rules that Spirit / The Goddess had created as part of this physical reality, the bipedal organism used two sexes to reproduce, thereby mixing bits of the parental organisms and allowing change which, when successful, would lead to evolution. When unsuccessful, the change would become a candidate for a Darwin Award ...

All well and good, except for the short sightedness - metaphorically, as their physical eyesight (and other senses) was quite outstanding at that time - of the bipeds, who started building up all sorts of rules around - well, nothing, really.

At the time that the bipeds were developing all these rules, they were living as gatherer-hunters. There weren't very many of them, and they were feeling fairly insecure about that lack, so they decided to set about making sure there would be lots more of them. It took what they thought was a fairly long time for a new biped to be born after conception, so they started building up their rules around protecting what they would later refer to, when they domesticated other lifeforms, as "breeding stock".

Of course, in doing so, they started losing some of the tolerance of diversity that was the whole point of this physical reality coming into existence, but sometimes you just can't argue with a biped that is armed with a sharp stick, a thick head and not too much in the way of grunts.

Some of them were really struggling with this whole being-in-contact-with-things-that-weren't-in-harmony-with-them thing, and started behaving quite badly. Some of it was petty - jealousy and the like; some of it was worse, and included attempts at changing or controlling others, which led to some quite nasty behaviours that would later be described - when the bipeds had extended their range of grunts to include this particular sequence of sounds - as "evil". Those attempts at changing or controlling others included the formation of stereotypes - some of which were based on generalities, but all of which failed to take account of the wonderful diversity that is one of the key wonders of this Universe generally, including this physical reality and life as sub-sets of the Universe which also feature diversity as one of their key wonders.

This was most noticeable, perhaps, with regard to those bipeds who had the view that bipeds who could potentially bear bipedlets should not be hunting, they should gathering and grunting in a coo-like manner over bipedlets, whether they wanted to or not. Maybe this was part of the whole problem of bits of Spirit getting put into physical bodies which could, for want of a better term, die - they started looking at the surface, rather than the Spirit.

Of course it wasn't helped by those potentially-bipedlet-bearing-bipeds who decided they rather liked the idea of being looked after, and got quite pernickety, despite that word not having been invented yet, and started frowning upon - and worse - other potentially-bipedlet-bearing-bipeds who wanted to do outrageous things like hunting. And everyone frowned upon - and worse - those bipeds who couldn't potentially bear bipedlets who didn't want to hunt.

That didn't apply everywhere, though. From time to time, various groups of bipeds would "get it together", as some future bipeds would grunt, and be tolerant of difference, and maybe do things like domesticate fire, refine the manufacture and use of tools, domesticate quadrupeds, "invent" agriculture, and domesticate other bipeds - also known as "invent civilisation", which can be rather nice when done well.

Of course, sadly, at this time bipeds also started to discover that sometimes you just can't argue with a biped that is armed with a sharp stick, a thick head and not too much in the way of grunts - and promptly started attempting to do exactly that, with much effort devoted to getting sharper or bigger sticks and things like rocks, and recording or worshipping or both whatever biped had won what they would later refer to as "war". Groups of bipeds also even refined their grunts into languages so they could fail to understand other groups of bipeds entirely.

Now, one of the aspects of reality is that of a spiritual hierarchy: as well as The Goddess, there are gods and goddesses of varying experience and power. There are also manus in charge of groups and spirits in places, and the larger Spirit that inhabits the planet itself, called by some Sanat Kumara and by others Gaea. It's all a bit like a public service bureacracy, except this one works and is user friendly - largely. One of the gods, a Canaanite hill spirit originally, would get quite uppity and have himself declared The One True God, and try to get all the other gods and goddesses kicked out of this particular planet, but that's a little down the track.

All very confusing, and what makes it worse - and is not widely known - is that all these gods and goddesses and manus and spirits are also, as with the bipeds and quadrupeds and non-peds in this physical level of reality, learning and growing. In fact, you may recall that this whole mess was created because Spirit / The Goddess wanted to do a bit more growing/learning. Sadly, growth and learning is not always at a constant rate, nor even always in the right direction ... In fact, it got to the stage where one group of bipeds, a few centuries before the Caananite hill spirit who had got all uppity warped the work of a very evolved soul who incarnated as a Jewish lad, decided to sack the whole working and user friendly bureaucracy and try something they called "Buddhism".

It is to be wondered whether or not at times various gods/goddesses/The Goddess/Spirit would wonder about scratching out all this lot, and trying again ... hmmm ... maybe they did, and found that they have to try to make it work or the bipeds will keep on making the same mistakes ...

It is known that some bipeds thought about scratching out all this lot from time to time, and some of the few vaguely almost justifiable conflicts have been against those who tried to do this, or to assert control in a nasty way over other bipeds.

Post No. 326 - Tonglen

I recently came across a Tibetan Buddhist practice called tonglen - see here (I particularly like Pema Chödrön's comment that this breaks down fear of pain) and here. In essence, with this practice one takes (through a combination of breathing and visualising) into oneself the pain (suffering) of others, and sends them positive energy. As such, it reminds me of a few things. There is a very key second step, which I will get to after I discuss what I have been reminded of.

The first is that advanced yogis apparently are capable of absorbing ... "problems" from others (not just possession/obsession type problems - after all, keep in mind that everything is really just energy, so to be ... say ... jealous, one has to have and use jealousy energy), and then dissolving those problems within their own auras.

The second is using trance mediumship [1] for rescue. This involves letting another spirit take over your body - not a nice, advanced, pleasant guide or inspirational spirit (I won't get into the need to check such spirits for genuineness here, but that really is a very crucial matter, and why you should have a good, experienced teacher), but someone you know will be unpleasant, angry, hurt, someone whose pain you will share. This is the purpose for which I learned trance: it is very tough, but it is a great way to get to know yourself (it is truly amazing to see someone who is manifesting in an angry way calm down when they go into an aura that is clear of anger energies and very well tuned to transmute or clear such anger energies; on the other hand, if they remain angry in your aura, you know you have more personal development work to do :) ), and great way to, in a sort of sense, have more lives, as you really do share some of the significant experiences and energies of the person being rescued (to put my tongue into my cheek I could say, particularly if, like me, you are too much of a stickybeak to be a deep trance medium :) ).

The third is shamanistic healing, where one draws the illness out of the patient. This was one of the earliest forms of spiritual practice I pursued, but it is important to have allies and good techniques to make sure you don't have some of the illness left in you, to make sure that you really do get rid of it all.

The fourth is the push-pull techniques taught by the Order of Scathach (currently in their second lesson), which is an adaptation of the physical martial art "push-pull" (where, to simplify, if your opponent pushes, you pull, or if they pull, you push - thereby using their own effort against them) technique to psychic energies: if your opponent is sending you negative energy, you psychically grab it and pull, then let it pass right through you and into the Earth. The teaching of this technique emphasises the importance of a calm state of mind.

To do these techniques, one has to be EXTREMELY good at self monitoring and self healing. One also has to know oneself, and have "been through the mill" in terms of what one is capable of, and know that EVERYONE is capable of good and bad, no matter how far they have come along the spiritual path [2]. Sure, if you've been evolving spiritually for some time, you will have established good habits of "being good", so to speak, but events can still occur which push you to "your limit". Absorbing something from someone else deliberately, could be exactly such a matter. Being very self disciplined and used to analysing yourself to make sure you have not left something inside you is important - and that is where things like proper meditation and Buddhist mindfulness can come in handy.

The basic idea of tonglen is also useful for this, as focusing on sending out a cure may well trigger exactly such a response within yourself -provide you don't have any self guilt or desire for self punishment within you.

Hmmm ... we're back to the importance of knowing yourself - I might end this post on that point :) Ah - but that second point!

OK, the second point is that, when one finds oneself resisting the exercise of tonglen for others, one then focuses of doing that practice for oneself - take out your weariness, compassion fatigue, etc, and send yourself whatever you need, whether that is appreciation, gratitude, healing, a hug, etc. So ... one also learns to be gentle (compassionate) towards oneself.

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).

Post No. 122 - The down side of things getting better

Believe it or not, there IS a down side of things getting better. In a nutshell, it is that you no longer have the chance to prove your quality under the most trying of circumstances.

That perception is highly arguable, as it implies that there is a restriction to what can learned when conditions are good, but some things can only be done in trying circumstances. Of course, there is a view that this whole planet Earth has been created as a school [1] for somewhat recalcitrant souls (joke, Joyce [2]), but consider, for instance:
  • overcoming socially accepted values, or not doing the "milestone" thing as I posted about recently, or
  • proving you are not bigoted by reacting to new experiences without prejudice.

Let's consider those points in a little more detail.

A few centuries ago, when slavery was considered "normal" (socially acceptable - even the foundation of the economic system), the people who were courageous, spiritually advanced and admirable were the people who went against the social flow, who stood up to what "everyone" considered normal - in fact, essential for the continued existence of the world (as they knew it, at any rate). Now, slavery in most nations is banned (although it still exists), and the "normal" view is that slavery is wrong. People who speak out against slavery now are doing something that is right, admirable and useful ... but it is NOT in the same category of courage and spiritual vision as those who did so when the world was not so advanced (and, on this topic, although it is not perfect, it nevertheless still IS better than it was a few centuries ago).

So ... being spiritual and inclusive when others are not shows your spiritual mettle far better than simply going along with the crowd when everyone else is being inclusive and spiritual.

Another example of that is not going along with undesirable behaviour, simply because "everyone else does it". In a small way, this means NOT doing drugs when you're young "because everyone else does it", or not trying stealing because your peers say it is a thrill. This sort of behaviour, when magnified, becomes the driver who obediently takes Jews to be gassed ... SERIOUSLY!

It is not very fashionable to look at extreme degrees of such actions, but - apart from being wrong in and of itself! - "small" misdeeds really do have an active influence psychically towards greater evil in the world, and they do open the possibility of the person concerned, at some later date, in some later situation, doing the same thing, but to a slightly greater extent ... a bit like a junkie "needing" a bigger hit each time ...

Not everyone goes along with such things: some Germans refused to obey orders, and were declared by Israel to be "Righteous Among the Nations". Those people had courage and spiritual insight: I admire them for that. Have a look at some of their stories - for instance, here, here, here, here, here, and here, and here, here, here, here, and here.

Today, there are fewer opportunities to be so spectacularly humanitarian. They still exist (e.g., see the film "Hotel Rwanda"), and the caution I gave about the dangers of doing small evils also applies - in a positive way - when it comes to doing good: it may not be as spectacular as saving the lives of groups of people, but doing something like accepting the gender of trans people WITHOUT having to have prior education (as some people do: they don't have to have principles of human rights explained to them, they simply know that to do otherwise would cause serious distress, and choose not to do so) counts as effectively the same sort of spiritually advanced action.

When the world is a better place - and it WILL become better, some of the chances now about to show your spiritual mettle will be lost forever. So ... get in while you can, and rise above the world's circumstances as much as you can ... NOW.

Love, light, hugs and blessings

  1. This concept is discussed by Lobsang Rampa in some of his books. From the index is "The Thirteenth Candle", this is mentioned on page 194 of "Cave of the Ancients", pages 92, 114, 126 and 144 of "Your Forever", page 85 of "The Saffron Robe", page 20 of "Chapters of Life", pages 113 and 139 of "Feeding the Flame", and page 130 of "The Thirteenth Candle".

Post No. 116 - Frustrations: Changing the World

Something I have been interested in all my life is making this world a better place. In my early teens, when I had to choose what academic direction I would take in Year Nine at High School, that desire was a key factor in my decision making process. As I've matured, it has continued to be a key part of my life, and all the various aspects of it (such as what identification of faith I will use, causing myself massive problems by leaving a job as a matter of principle, the type of job I have, how I use my "spare" time, etc).

Last night I went to a political fund raiser - a "house party". Now, I am not planning on ever joining a political party in this lifetime (in part in reaction to having to join a bad political party in my most recent previous life, but also so I can maintain neutrality when lobbying politicians etc, including in my capacity as a "Reverend" [priestess - or First Degree Correllian, if you prefer :) ]), but I do tend to favour the Greens policies in many things - social, as well as environmental. My partner is an even more ardent supporter of them, and it was through her contacts that I found myself at the house party.

A key part of the fund raiser was a performance by a folk musician we know. In the intro to one of her songs, this musician commented on how it was easier for young people to get out and be active in seeking change because they don't have mortgages and commitments. Well, I both agree and disagree with that.

I agree that the responsibilities and demands that we get as we mature DO become a major impediment in seeking to be an activist - there are probably dozens of lobbying letters that I would like to write on a range of topics, but I simply don't have the time, owing to the demands of having a family to support. In fact, I have long thought that much of what is attributed to "old age deterioration" physically is simply due to lack of time to maintain physical activity/exercise.

To some extent that latter perception is based on my personal experience. In my 40s, I trained for and competed in the Gay Games in Sydney, in 2002 (in sailing - got a bronze medal in the teams competition, and came 6th out of 28 in the individual boat competition :) *sighs as reflects on the "good ol' days"* ); that required running 7km about 4 or 5 times a week, plus 1.5hr weights/flexibility sessions several times a week. During that time, I was able to manage my diabetes solely by tablets and exercise. Since I wound up with more pressing family commitments, I haven't been able to exercise, and my health has unquestionably deteriorated. (I also remember a sailor in the sailing club I was at when I was a teenager commenting on how he was fitter and healthier in his 50s, as a result of taking up competitive dinghy sailing, than he was in his 30s.)

So, in my mind, there is no question that life tends to bring with it commitments that stuff up how we live, and prevent us having the time and energy we would possibly like to devote to matters such as human rights activism. Nevertheless, it is important, in my opinion, to make the effort to do something - no matter how limited and symbolic that is.

This is something I am seeking to do around physical and psychic exercise, actually, at the moment. In a few years time, the household will be just my partner and I, and we'll hopefully be able to devote more time to the things we want to do, including exercise. However, I'm wary of making the mistake of living in the future, so seek some way of living those dreams now, in some way (which I've posted about previously). In the same way, it is important, I consider, to continue seeking to make the world (more broadly, I mean - outside of your immediate "circle of life") a better place - to be an activist, in some way. (I've also written about not getting caught up in the myth of "milestones" - I should have mentioned, in that post, about changing cultural norms on this over years, such as how young boys used to become "men" at their first kill ... )

Now, I wrote "in some way" in part to be and encourage being flexible, but also because I vehemently disagree with the implication made by the singer that one can ONLY be an activist by actions such as street marches and protests. That is absolute crap - in fact, from my personal lobbying experience, I know how much is best achieved by level-header, calm, sit down and talk or write nicely negotiating. Perhaps that has also been influenced by having been a member of Amnesty International for so many years, but I have actually seen it.

I have also witnessed (although not in a way that would constitute legally binding evidence!) changes that can happen as a result of a spiritual activism - especially the clearing of negative energy that I have posted about a few times beginning with my second post). I find it extremely frustrating that so many people, including people who otherwise have a commitment to spiritual and activist matters, are so reluctant to use such methods - or perhaps they are, owing to a lack of evidence, dismissive?

Maybe the problem is a shortcoming in them. Lobsang Rampa writes, on page 88 of "You Forever", that "[i]t is possible for a small group of people, thinking constructively, to alter the whole course of the world's events. Unfortunately, it is too difficult to get a small group of people who are so unselfish, so unselfcentred, that they can switch off their own selfish thoughts and concentrate only on the good of the world."

Before you dismiss this difficulty, keep in mind that Rampa is effectively talking of achieving a high level of concentration, and of connection (see my previous post on "Working Together"), and having part of one's consciousness watching the clock until one has to leave to pick up the kids is not only going to be distracting for you, it will potentially weaken the whole combination.

I'm going to leave the main topic more or less at that, but I would like to add some thoughts about personal generosity in the context of mediumship. I am very careful with my personal possessions these days: apart from the risk of them being damaged, I have got thoroughly tired and fed up with having to cleanse them of all sorts of psychic junk that they come back with - stuff that other people are not aware of, but I am. I'll share them with people I trust, and I have some crystals and other things which have been purchased specifically for the purpose of sharing them (for instance, for healing or teaching). However, there is one area where I do NOT place such restrictions on sharing: rescue mediumship.

Mediumship (which I have written about here, here and here) effectively requires you to share your most personal physical possession: your body. Your spirit steps back (ideally, moves out entirely), and allows another spirit to take over for a while. In most channelling situations, the spirit that comes in is a more advanced soul, and they're here for the purpose of teaching (although sadly, too many times there is an element of ego, self deception or other "paranormally normal" [see in my post here] that contaminates or destroys that purpose.) In the case of rescue, you step out, and some lost soul, or some nasty,-deliberately-staying-earthbound-for-the-purpose-of-control,-domination-and-power soul, steps in. THAT is the ultimate in testing your selflessness ... [1]

Love, light, hugs and blessings

Gnwmythr

Notes:
  1. Mind you, after a while you find out that there are benefits for your soul growth in all this: the soul that is in your aura can, to some extent, only be as angry, or lost or confused as your aura (left behind, to some extent, as your body is still alive) permits them. If you have cleared all your personal anger energy and your negative karma connected in any way to anger, and you have a good amount of positive energy in your aura (especially if you're a healer), an angry soul (e.g. angry at what they perceive to be an unjustified early death) will find the experience quite calming. From your perspective, if you channel an earthbound entity and they are angry, you know you need to look into that aspect of yourself. So ... the personal discovery and growth that can happen this way can be enormous - harrowing, challenging, test-your-persistence-and-self-belief-to-the-limit-and-beyond, but enormous :)

Post No. 111 - Working together

I'm a little loathe to write about this topic, but feel I must - I want to make sure the idea is put out into this world before I lose the chance to do so because of accident or psychic interference or something else. Paranoid, I know, but them's the breaks (hey, my blood sugar got a little low, this arvo - OK? :D [1] ).

I want to write about working together: about linking up with, or connecting to, another person, or persons, or place, or thing, and combining one's strengths and abilities. This is a concept that is mentioned in a wide range of places, in a wide ranges of ways - I can't be bothered to dig up too many examples, but I will mention:
(1) Lobsang Rampa [2] mentions, in I forget which book, that a few people joined together in perfect harmony (or maybe it was completely selflessly) can generate enough energy/psychic force/love to change the world for the better; and
(2) I am rereading Stuart Holroyd's brilliant"Briefing for the Landing on the Planet Earth" (now republished as "The Nine: Briefing from Deep Space" [3]), and one of the core messages for the three central characters is that they three, joining together, can have a profound influence on people and world events.

Well, I am well convinced of this because of my personal experiences, including the time I spent working learning, studying, and applying lessons and techniques that are now core to most of what I now attempt to pass on to others) at ASPECTS in the early 1980s. It is, in my opinion, quite possible to have a constructive psychic influence on people, places and happenings both near and far.

So, having got that first point out the way, there are a few others I would like to discuss.

The first is chakras. I written about chakras elsewhere - see here [4], here [5], here, here and here - oops: sorry, one too many "here"s :D [1]. One of the main points I have wanted to make about chakras to date is that they are not a fixed set up: as we evolve, both individually and as a species, our chakras will also develop. (Keep in mind the sceptical view of chakras I've written about as you read this - don't be guilty of blind naivete!) Part of that development is learning to use what you have. Typically, this involves various visualisations [6] to stimulate and "shut down" the various chakras.

One more advanced chakra technique is to project a beam of energy from each chakra, and then allow the energy to form the image of a person (which is termed externalising the chakra). This is something I have only recently started to work with (it is in the Second Degree of the Correllian teaching materials), but am finding it extremely effective and rewarding (but note that I have worked up to this gradually).

Now, one of the techniques I have used to work with chakras is what I would broadly describe as "matching frequencies", attuning or (if my blood sugar was getting a bit dodgy again) harmonising chakras. In this exercise, two (or more - although I've only tried it with two people at the time of writing) people check the "frequency" of each of their chakras, one by one, and the corresponding chakra of the other person, and applies energy to bring the two frequencies together.

So, let's say person A sees person A's solar plexus chakra as yellow (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste), and person B's solar plexus chakra as green (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste): person A could apply what they perceive as blue (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste) to their solar plexus chakra to adjust the frequency to green, so that person A would feel in harmony with person B at the "level" ("frequency", or "sphere of existence") which manifests through the solar plexus chakra (often considered to be emotions, other than selfless love; this chakra is also often associated with the astral body).

In the meantime, person B may go through the same exercise (after person A - otherwise you have the situation where each is chasing after a frequency that is being changed to match their own changing frequency [7]) and add blue (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste) to red (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste) to create a purple (or a corresponding sound, scent or taste) colour so that person B feels they in harmony at that level.

Phew. Sounds complicated - and it does take time the first few times, but, as with most things, practice makes it easier, and it then becomes quicker and has a risk of one or both getting blase or complacent). Of course, if there are physical world clashes or disharmonies between these two people, their perceptions are likely to be so far off that they do not actually succeed in matching chakra frequencies: I've used the technique with lovers and others who are already friends or close friends, NEVER with people I feel uncomfortable with, or not close to. (Obviously you have to check that this feeling is reciprocated: you can only truly do so in an effective way if the other person is in a situation where they genuinely feel they can say no: consider using an intermediary, especially if you are feeling enthusiastic!)

So, having done that, the next step in this technique is to externalise one or more chakras, and then have the personifications blend together. I'm not going to write too much more about ways this can be done at this stage: I don't feel comfortable doing so, but I have got the pressure off by getting the basic concept out there so others can develop, refine and apply it (hopefully use it better than I could).

One thing I will strongly suggest is not combining all (or even most) chakras: the chakras that are left separate can be most useful in making you sure you separate out your energies, and each focus on who you are and ground yourselves back in your own personalities and various bodies. As such, I would particularly suggest that your sacral and base chakras, and crown chakra, be kept out of such exercises, as they are connected with our survival/who you are in the physical, and with your soul.

Also, if you are having particular problems that could affect a particular chakra, DO NOT combine that chakra, or you may pass those energies (think of it as potentially infecting your partner). As an example, if you are emotionally upset or depressed, do not use your solar plexus chakra - especially do not do so if you are angry. If you are either starting or ending a love or intimate relationship, do not involve your heart chakra (the caution in relation to starting such relationships is because the New Relationship Energy could throw others emotional balance out enough to affect free will decisions about relationships they would have made - i.e., they could become involved in something they didn't want).

I wish all who work with this well, but do be cautious. This technique, BTW, is one that will form part of the training I am working on for the Rangers of the Inner Plane.

[1] maybe that should be *slightly manic grin* :)
[2] I do hope everyone notices that there are TWO links there ...
[3] I think this was published in the USA as "Prelude to the Landing on Planet Earth". There are follow ups to this book, apparently, including "The Only Planet of Choice". I have not read any of those, so do not know what they are like I do intend to read them, BTW, but I am wary of Internet purchases by credit card etc. (What's that? Paranoid again? No, me thinks this P word is "Prudent" ... ) One of the main reasons the book is so brilliant is that it is sensibly objective and sceptical - it does not have the religiously rabid pseudo-scepticism of deniers that I have come across, but equally, it does not naively assume all must be so simply because ...
[4] I was tickled pink to find someone had actually forwarded this article on Twitter.
[5] The "push-pull" technique there will also be adapted to the Rangers of the Inner Plane.
[6] I'm not going to go into details of the various techniques here, but I do consider the gradual progression of techniques in the Correllian system to be very effective. A couple of other links I have found interesting of late are here and here.
[7] Chakra tango, anyone?
