Post No. 3,354 - Coming soon (to my Ko-Fi shop): elemental energy assessments (divinations)

I am working on getting the notes ready for the elemental energy assessments (divinations) that I wish to make available through my Ko-Fi  shop

These are based on the assessments I used for PWRs. The initial notes (for the simplest option) are copied in below. I am working at doing some trial assessments using those notes, and will launch it when I am satisfied (if I get permission, I will provide a few example readings)

Current draft version of elemental energy assessment notes

Description

This is a form of divination, much as Tarot, the Yi Jing, and palmistry are forms of divination.

This form of divination is aimed at determining details of the nonphysical energies [i] in and/or around a particular person/situation/question.

The purpose of this is NOT to advise or predict what will happen, but to provide some additional information to prompt deeper, more informed, more reflective thinking about the topic of the divination.

I use pendulum dowsing for the actual divination, and determine two values (between 1 and 10, each indicating the strength of a particular energy/influence) for each of five elements.

The five elements I use are those commonly used in Western esotericism / witchcraft / Wicca / Paganism:   Æther, Fire, Earth, Water, and Air.

I’ve written a little on the derivation of the latter four elements in this appendix, but the key point is that I arrange them as shown below:

A brief description of the nature of each the five elements as I use them is:

  • Æther:
    • Often described as “spirituality”, but that can be affected by personal associations, so I’ll describe this as broader, deeper, & longer term perspectives, understanding, and inclusiveness
  • Fire:
    • Passion, transformation
  • Water:
    • Feeling and slower but forceful changes
  • Air:
    • Thinking, quick but possibly fleeting changes

The two values are for what are often simplified and misdescribed as “good” and “bad”: I am actually looking at balance, and the two values are for:

  • balanced and/or balancing energy (or influences), which I term balanced positive, spiritually mature (abbreviated to BPM [ii] ),

and

  • unbalanced and/or unbalancing energy (or influences), which I term balanced positive, spiritually mature (abbreviated to nonBPM).

Examples of BPM and nonBPM energies for each element would be:

  • Æther (broader, deeper, & longer term perspectives, understanding, and inclusiveness):
    • BPM:   compassion
    • nonBPM:   dogmatic ideology
  • Fire (passion, transformation):
    • BPM:   drive to change self or the world to something better
    • nonBPM:   anger (misunderstood/reactionary/poorly directed emotion)
  • Earth (strength, stability, and integration):
    • BPM:   confidence, patience
    • nonBPM:   stubbornness
  • Water (feeling and slower but forceful changes):
    • BPM:   love
    • nonBPM:   jealousy
  • Air(thinking, quick but possibly fleeting changes):
    • BPM:   inspiration
    • nonBPM:   distraction

The values (strengths) of the energies/influences are then assessed as follows:

  1. The first assessment is to see which energies will control others, using the sequence Æther controls Earth, Fire controls Water, Earth controls Air, Water controls Æther, Air controls Fire.

    For example, 32 units of BPM Æther energy will help to prevent 28 units of nonBPM Earth energy being problematic. On the other hand, 18 units of nonBPM Fire energy will inhibit the beneficial influences of 16 units of BPM Water energy. Based on the divined strengths, I will determine which BPM elements need to be strengthened, and which nonBPM elements need to be weakened.

    For example, if BPM Water on the astral needs to be strengthened, it may necessary to generate and send [iii]  compassion – which could also be used to weaken nonBPM Æther.
  2. I then consider the relative strengths of each element. If an element needs (BPM) strengthening, that can be done either by trying to strengthen that element directly, or if it is being blocked by a nonBPM stronger element, the energy can be sent to the element “upstream” (using the sequence Æther, Fire, Earth, Water, Air) of that element, which may be easier and thus more effective.

    As an example, consider the case of 18 units of nonBPM Fire energy inhibiting 16 units of BPM Water energy. Water is generated by Earth; if Earth has more than 18 units of BPM energy, it will increase BPM Water energy.

Having assessed these, can provide some commentary, including on energies to meditate on or generate to exert a balancing (“beneficial”) effect on the person/situation/question.

However, note that these situations are dynamic, and you may subsequently determine something else would be better.

Elements

The concept of the latter four elements probably dates back to ancient Greek philosophers (or further), and came to us via Hermeticism (there is some good information on this in Brendan  Myers’ book The Earth, The Gods and the Souls).

Often these are associated with a physical direction, which I hadn’t come across until I did my Wiccan Priestess training, but there are debates about which direction “should” be associated with what element (often based on local conditions – such as those on the western side of a large body of water putting water in the east, rather than the more common west), but, as one of my teachers pointed out: does it matter where you put a radio (using a radio tuned to particular station as an analogy for tuning in to/calling one particular element)?

Those associations are irrelevant to this form of divination, but the representation of elements around a circle is.

Agrippa’s 1559 “Philosophy of Natural Magic: Complete Work on Natural Magic, White & Black Magic” includes a statement that each element has two properties, which are various combinations of heat-cold and dry-moist. One property is referred to as “proper”, and the other as “mean”, the “mean” property of one becomes the “proper” property of the next, as shown in the table below (I wonder if that classification could be representative of an octave shift?).

The order that he has the elements listed in is the order I use, if I travel around the outside of the pentagram in a clockwise direction.

However, it should also be noted that this idea can be traced back further in history, through Empedocles and the Ancient Greek concept of humours(which may be based on less developed concepts in Ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia, and has parallels with concepts in Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese philosophy, and the First Peoples of Australia).

My derivation of the four elements is shown below:

Possible flaws

Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:

  • there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan  Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”
  • I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).

Post No. 3,245 - Elemental energy assessments: an explainer

(A wide green valley stretches from the foreground, with steep tree covered ridges framing it, a tree covered hill in the centre, and a town leading to the ocean behind. The dawn sky is orange, with dark clouds edged by pink)

I realised I haven't provided a specific explanation of my elemental energy assessments - only referrals to blog posts. I have remedied that below 😊
(I may add more to this, or edit it over time)

In much the same way that people may both like aspects of a job (e.g., like the pay, dislike the hours), the nonphysical energies of a place, sentient being, or situation, may involve both “good” and “bad” aspects. I prefer the terms balanced positive (which I explain at https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2014/04/balanced-positive.html) and spiritually mature (see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2014/10/maturity-non-physical.html), which I abbreviate to BPM (see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2015/12/bpm.html), and the opposite is out of balance and immature/or rigid with age.

I am NOT considering balance between the standard range of characteristics (“good” vs. “bad”, or “light” vs. “dark”, etc): I am considering being balanced a state in its own right – my concern is not balance of arbitrarily chosen parameters, it is whether one is balanced or not (or, more specifically "balanced positive" [i.e., NO toxic positivity - see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2020/12/toxic-positivity.html], something I am hoping to explore further at https://shrineofbalancedpositivity.blogspot.com/, if I ever get the time).

I assess the nonphysical energies (see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2023/09/nonphysical-energies-under-development.html) for selected levels (see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2014/07/levels-of-reality.html) of reality (see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2014/05/nature-of-reality.html) – etheric (which is sort of representative of the physical – see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2014/09/etheric-partial-draft.html), astral (see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2014/04/astral.html), the “mental” level often considered to be “above” the astral (there is a good argument that, rather than being a different “frequency”, the difference between levels of reality is more like the differences between AM and FM), and the “causal” (a stand in for “spiritual” and all the many other levels above these) which is “above” the mental level. I do this for each of the five elements that I work with (see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2015/09/elements.html).

Examples of BPM and nonBPM energies on the various levels would be:

  • Etheric:
    • BPM:   good health, vigour, endurance;
    • NonBPM:   pain, exhaustion, immobility;
  • Astral:
    • BPM:   compassion, gentleness, humour;
    • NonBPM:   anger, hate, fear;
  • Mental:
    • BPM:   insight, understanding, good curiosity;
    • NonBPM:   distraction, illogicality, mental rigidity/inflexibility/stubbornness;
  • Causal:
    • BPM:   caring, inclusive, responsible spirituality, which may occur within adequately mature religions;
    • NonBPM:   rigid, dogmatic, power-addicted perversions of religion/spirituality;

I determine a strength (a quantity from 1 to 10 for each reading) of these energies on each level using dowsing (by pendulum – for more on that, see my [free] dowsing course at https://gnwmythr.blogspot.com/p/on-line-courses-on-this-blog.html) for each element (Æther, Fire, Earth, Water, Air), and then assess the numeric values.

For example, if BPM Water on the astral needs to be strengthened, it may necessary to generate and send (see https://gnwmythr.blogspot.com/2015/05/post-no-708-how-do-i-clear-or-channel.html) compassion – which could also be used to weaken nonBPM Æther.

I then consider the relative strengths of each element. If I consider an element needs (bpm) strengthening, that can be done either by trying to strengthen that element directly, or if it is being blocked by a nonBPM stronger element, I can send the energy to the element “upstream” (using the sequence Æther, Fire, Earth, Water, Air) of that element, which may be easier and thus more effective.

As an example, consider the case of 18 units of nonBPM Fire energy inhibiting 16 units of BPM Water energy. Water is generated by Earth; if Earth has more than 18 units of BPM energy, it will increase BPM Water energy.

I then consider the relative strengths of each level to see if there are any trends to be noted.

As an example, if the nonBPM causal energy is significantly stronger than the average strength (which I base on more than one standard deviation), then it is possible that a dogmatic religious ideology may be a concern.

If BPM astral energy is stronger, then “good feelings” (compassion, etc) are helping.

Finally, assessing inward focus vs. outward focus gives a further fine tuning of the assessment.

If Earth is nonBPM and inwardly focused, that may show as for fear for the security of oneself and one’s loved ones; if it is outwardly focused, it may show fear of war, invasion, or social trends.

Having assessed all these, I then make a recommendation as to what energy to generate to most help the place, sentient being, or situation being assessed.
