Post No. 2,722 - Bi-phasic sleep

An issue that some people - some neurodivergent people in particular - have is what is termed revenge  bedtime  procrastination

Notwithstanding the official definitions I have just linked to, the best explanation I have come across of this (and I cannot remember which autism/ADHD channel it was: my apologies) is along the lines of: 

staying up until one has does enough good stuff to feel that ones existence for another day has been justified

The definitions I linked to trivialise this to “personal time”, but the problem is more the soul-crushing nature of existence in the lives of most people in the modern neoliberal, capitalist world.

The problem is not the absence of personal time so much as the complete absence of personal value in work and societal expectations. The activities which have been triviallised as “personal time” are an attempt to trick ones brain - by triggering dopamine - into thinking life is worth living. 

Provide some genuine value in peoples lives, and I consider the need for sleep medication and the like would reduce significantly - it would not go away, as there are other, valid issues involved in peoples sleep problems.

Possibly one of those other issues is that humans natural sleep patterns may actually be to divide sleep up. In December of last year I published the following article in an interesting reading post of mine - and referred to the concept when discussing sleep in   Post No. 2,668 - Recovering from a corporate life - Episode 23: continuing recovery (23rd December, 2023):

My use of biphasic sleep to date has been informal - and thus irregular.

I am now going to formalise that (reminders on my smartphone and everything 😲 ) - which will hopefully enable me to do more energy work, meditation, and writing in the quieter hours of night. 

I will still be awake for most of the daylight hours, so I can interact with family and friends, but I wasnt doing much of that in the late evening anyway. 

So ... along with a Nanna nap aka siesta or two during the day, it will be interesting to see how this goes. 


By the way, I considered making this part of my recovering from corporate life series, but it is more general than that.

Post No. 2,721 - Recovering from a corporate life - Episode 27: the initial holiday part of retirement is over

PS - expect these to be eddited fairly often. Writing these is part of the healing process, and will bring up more insights,etc.

Well, it has been six months, and ... I feel that the holiday part of retirement (or the initial holiday part, at any rate) is over. 

I haven’t healed fully from half a century of working in an ultra-conservative (backward) profession and corporate environment, but I have healed enough to start doing a few more things in life - such as resuming my gardening activities, and getting back into exercise ... which was initially good, but then fell away as the bottled up accumulations unbottled themselves ... (and I have been able to do more housework - partly as a result of having more time)  

So ... heere’s to whatever comes next 😁

I am writing this series in the hope that it will contribute to a better understanding - or at least better research into the effects of - the so-called developed world’s economic systems - which are based on the world-destroying amathia of perpetual growth, and patriarchal oligarchical capitalism expressed as often expressed corporatism and neoliberalism.

Post No. 2,720 - A MAJOR opportunity to do the work of this blog NOW (probably for Gaza)

Some time ago, I found a live 24-hour display of output from the Global Consciousness Project. The commentary on that site suggests that, if 4 - 6 hours are fairly consistently at the significantly high/low variance, then it is likely some event is underway that is affecting humanity's consciousness.

The current GCP output (the “dot”) that triggered this post is below.

These are critical moments, when a modest amount of effort can have an influence. Thus, I will be meditating to determine what energetic action I should be taking, and then doing the work of this blog (clearing nonBPM nonphysical  units and BPM  strengthening of BPM units, and healing of all) wherever it is needed.


 

4 hours at either end is of great significance: I have NEVER seen around 20 hours of indication  of something significant.
