For tonight's meditation, the situations in Africa remain serious, and there have been good and bad signs in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
As I meditate, one of the points I will keep in mind is that the complexities of people and governments is well illustrated by my county's Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, who, having spent millions to keep a small group of people out, and punish and abuse them in breach of international law (regarding refugees/asylum seekers, torture / crime / etc), has since spent millions to search for an even smaller group of people, ostensibly in honour of international obligations (regarding searches at sea, which is an obligation that was itself breached in the notorious Tampa incident).
