The coup in Thailand is, in my view, an extension of the recent
violence and instability there, and, far from ‘curing’ the inability to work
with people who have different views, which is an absolute necessity for democracy, it
is a perfect example of that problematic attitude exacerbated to the ultimate extent.
Next, despite Mr Putin’s claims
to the contrary, at least some people are saying
the conflict in Ukraine is not nor is likely to be civil war, so that gives
me some hope and encouragement to keep sending light and mature spiritual love
to that part of the world.
I’ve recently come across mention of ‘peacekeeping’ in a few places – one
being the TV cartoon series “Star Wars: the Clone Wars”, where at least one character towards the end of the series
starts to question the Jedi order’s actions and accuse them of serving ‘evil’.
In that series, they are unwittingly
serving the Sith lord who is later revealed as he becomes the Emperor (without knowing … so, despite Yoda’s
concerns about the Jedi order, none had enough ability to find the true source
of the problems – which is an issue to keep in mind for real life, that one can
be deceived and slowly, millimetre by millimetre, be diverted away good … ),
but in the real world, there have been major flaws with peacekeeping. There
were peacekeepers in Rwanda [2]
at the time of the genocide (see the film “Hotel Rwanda”, which I have posted about previously, for
an idea of the constraints on those peacekeepers – and much more as well)
and in Srebrenica during
the massacre
there: the rules they operated under were inappropriate, preventing them from
truly keeping the peace (actually, what
most people – including myself – mean by keeping the peace in such situations
is described by legal types as enforcing the peace … to quote from the film “Lincoln”, that is a ‘lawyer’s dodge’, and to quote
me, it is a malicious attempt to undermine the aims of such activities) –
and the resourcing they had was inadequate to either task. Still, the appalling
failures (measured in death and other
suffering) of those missions led to officers in the Australian Army, some
of whom had had personal experience of the failures in Rwanda, insisting (the rules impose on other peacekeeping missions,
as I understand it, were created without consultation of those who were
actually going to do the work) that the peacekeeping
mission in East Timor
was given proper rules and thus was able to be effectively resourced and to
function effectively. (It’s such an
appalling thing that the Australian government has since then behaved
so abominably towards East Timor … * )
The woolly and wishful thinking behind many such interventions is
really more about preventing the occurrence of conflict and thus prevent the
need for armed soldiers than about an appropriate peace keeping (so-called ‘peace enforcing’, according to
the lawyers) operation. As such, what is really needed for such preventative work is that which is set out
in the Hope, Peace, Love and Prosperity Spell, and for education and the
establishment of a socially just and reasonably prosperous society (which is more or less the opposite of what
Australia’s current government under prime minister Tony
Abbott is doing)
and magickal work along the lines of the meditation project that I host a very small
sub-set of on Sunday evenings …
See you tonight, ‘peace keepers’ – or maybe that should be … ‘peace creators’ …
* I am glad that there is a chance of a double
dissolution here in Australia, as that gives us a chance to get rid of Tony
Abbott. It’s also good news that the appalling
government of Campbell Newman in Queensland is losing
members …

Please see here and my post "The
Death of Wikipedia" for the
reasons I now recommend caution when using Wikipedia. I'm also exploring use of
h2g2, although that doesn't appear to be as
extensive (h2g2 is intended - rather
engagingly - to be the Earth edition of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to
the Galaxy").

I started this blog to cover karmic regression-rescue (see here and here), and it grew ... See here for my group mind project, here and here for my "Pagans for Peace" project (and join me at 9 PM on Sunday, wherever you are, to meditate for peace), and here for my bindrune kit-bag. I also strongly recommend learning how to flame, ground and shield, do alternate nostril breathing, work with colour, and see also here and be flexible.

- My favourite action movie of all time is "Gandhi", although I've recently come across "Invictus" and might put that one in to that category. However, I loathe the stereotypical action movie - and, for similar reasons, I loathe many dramas, which are often emotionally violent, more so in some cases than many war films.

Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be
stronger [people].

Jesus loves you. Odin wants you to grow up.
We make our decisions. And then our decisions turn around and make us.
F.W. Boreham
Females, get over 'cute'. Get competent. Get trained. Get capable. Get over 'cute'. And those of you who are called Patty and Debby and Suzy, get over that. Because we use those names to infantalise females – we keep females in their 'little girl' state by the names we use for them. Get over it. If you want to be taken seriously, get serious.
Jane Elliott
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good [people] to do nothing.

The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.

We didn't inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we only borrowed it from our children

Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it is not haphazard and superficial. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Too much and too long, we seem to have surrendered community excellence and community values in the mere accumulation of material things. Our gross national product ... if we should judge America by that -- counts air pollution and cigarette advertising, and ambulances to clear our highways of carnage. ... Yet the gross national product does not allow for the health of our children, the quality of their education, or the joy of their play. It does not include the beauty of our poetry or the strength of our marriages; the intelligence of our public debate or the integrity of our public officials. It measures neither our wit nor our courage; neither our wisdom nor our learning; neither our compassion nor our devotion to our country; it measures everything, in short, except that which makes life worthwhile."
Robert F. Kennedy 1968
There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction.
John F. Kennedy
If we could change ourselves, the
tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so
does the attitude of the world change towards him. … We need not wait to see
what others do. (Often degraded to “Be
the change you want to see in the world” – see here)
