Post No. 323 - Asking for protection

One of the best prayers for I was ever taught came from my early Wiccan training:

There is but one Power in the Universe, and I am a perfect manifestation of that Power. As such, I will that the boundaries of my aura be strong and healthy, repelling all negative and unwanted energy, whilst allowing positive and healing energy in.

Of course, that can be a little problematic for those who think someone with flaws (i.e., all of us) cannot be a perfect manifestation of the creative source. Well, the flaws are, in essence, about the learning that we take on and then, when we ultimately become one with the Goddess again, return to the Universe - they are, sadly, essential (which does not mean we do nothing about them - especially in this world, where negative flaws can sometimes be considered "quaint", or "eccentric", or "unique" ... ). It is the doing that gives the larnin' (learning - meant to be read with an accent ... sorry, that's my humour this marnin' ).

Now, that prayer's not bad, but if go further back in my "larnin' ", to when I was learning about all the various forms of psychic attack (direct and indirect - see here), I learned and developed a more precise and comprehensive form of protection. I use that in a couple of forms, but here is one example:

May I, my significant others and all other people, places and units directly in my life, together with all units they affect or have, are or could be affected by, be protected, guided, healed and positive ballasted by the DLF.

Everything we do in life causes effects that ripple onwards and outwards, like a stone dropped into a pool. Ultimately, in much the same way that these ripples get reflected back by the edge of the pool and come back to the point of origin (and hence we have karma), they can also come back to us, but the point is: everything affects others.

Now, hopefully that effect is constructive - genuinely constructive, not the fake "constructive" I've had from some long distant people which was really about them attempting to exert control over me or express their spite. However, the effect may not be: for that, you can at least ask that anyone or anything adversely affected by you be protected as much as is possible from your carelessness, thoughtlessness or ignorance (I'm going to assume that anyone reading this would not be silly enough to do so out of malice). Of course, the spiritual ideal would be to be aware enough, and spiritual enough, to not have any negative effects, to only have positive effects, but most of us are a long, long way off that yet, so let's just ask that the protection extend beyond the metaphoric tip of our nose ...

The term "unit" is something I was taught to cover person, place, energy, objects (physical and nonphysical), etc - it is much shorter than giving a long list :) I tend to also use it to include concepts, such as security of employment, positive thinking, etc.

I have included more than just protection here: I consider getting good guidance an essential, and something that can prevent the need for energy to be expended on protection - in fact, if energy has to be expended on avoidable protection, I consider that energy wasted.

Similarly, I consider healing a much-needed adjunct to protection. The stresses and strains of life in our backward world are such that, even if we are protected, we may well need help to recover from what we have been through - and, if we don't get that, we then become more vulnerable.

Finally, I mention "positive ballasting". Well, the word ballast has a few meanings (e.g., the rock used to secure railway tracks), but here I use it in the sense of something that weighs something down. Ever hear of the sayings "heavy hearted", or "feeling weighed down"? They refer to feelings of low emotions, sadness, depression, despair, etc, and actually reflect the fact that negative energy can often be perceived as being heavier than positive energy. Feeling "light hearted" often signifies feeling joyful.

Asking to be "positive ballasted" is asking to be helped into such "light hearted" states - and can come as a result of literally having lots of positive energy things placed into your aura.

It's something that doesn't seem to be very widely known, sadly.

Now, as a final example, this is from my eventually forthcoming book on regression-rescue (remember that some of this comes from my "fluffy white bunny" era - forgive me for that, please :) ):

OPENING PRAYER

May the Great White Spirit guide, nurture, protect and heal all of us present here, whatever our form, existence or purpose for coming to this circle may be.

We ask that the assistance be both within and without ourselves.

Within: by increasing our spiritual strengths and our live, and by reducing our weaknesses.

Without, through:

- the assistance of those organisations who work for a spiritually "balanced positive" world - especially those from off world planets;

- the assistance of the “balanced positive” spiritual hierarchy and the Lords of Energy, Karma and Time; and

- by being connected to positive energy power centres, grids and meridians.

We ask that the protection without include a positive energy golden pyramid about this place existing in all dimensions, with a crystal chimney to take units to be cleared to more spiritual places, including other positive energy pyramids.

We ask that our pyramid be kept continuously clear of all negative or discordant units, free of all outside negative influences and that all units to be cleared are cleared outside this pyramid in more spiritual places.

May this prayer, and everything that is done, thought or said by anyone present, or connected to here in anyway, be only for the Highest Spiritual Good.

As a sign of our commitment to this request, and to working only for the Divine Light, we ask that all that we intentionally do to other units in the name of clearing be done immediately to us by the Divine Light Forces, so that we may know no harm is being done.

CLOSING PRAYER

We ask that our auras be cleansed, cleared and closed. We ask that we be assisted to close down and to centre ourselves. We ask that the pyramid be cleared in all times, dimensions, realities, levels and spaces. We ask that all positive links and units be strengthened, and we ask that the circle be cleansed, cleared and closed, but that the protection and guidance continue for the Highest Spiritual Good.

What I would particularly like you to note is the ways that the "protection" (assistance) is created. It is both within ourselves, and without. The assistance within is by weakening our flaws, and increasing our strengths. Protection is not only by putting something outside us.

The references to "spiritually balanced" are from "Briefing for the Landing on Planet Earth" by Stuart Holroyd, which I reviewed here (and the successor book, "The Only Planet of Choice", published under the name of the medium from Briefing and subsequently, Phyllis V. Schlemmer, I reviewed here). I would like to include a couple of extracts from my post about Stuart Holroyd's book.

Firstly:
I will also take this opportunity to add in a Druid prayer for peace. I have come across this in a few sources: for this post, I found the text at http://www.spiritheart.org/chapel/druid_peace_prayer.htm, which cites the source as the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids.

Deep within the still centre of my being,
may I find peace.
Silently within the quiet of the Grove,
may I share peace.
Gently and powerfully,
within the greater circle of humankind,
may I radiate peace.

Next:

a daily prayer, a modified (by me) version of which is:

"We pray that all people of all nations of this world come to peace within themselves and come to recognise whence they came.
We pray that all civilisations of the Universe that are engaged in the balancing of the Universe be given peace and strength within to carry on the work to which they are committed.
We pray that the physical beings of the planet Earth come into a state of awareness and understanding in oreder for their souls to evolve to raise the spiritual level of the planet Earth and to cleanse the realms around the planet Earth for the betterment of all.
We pray that those beings and civilisations that are opposing what we do come to the Light of understanding so that they also come into perfect balance.
We pray that the day may soon come when all in the Universe have the knowledge and understanding that will make them whole.
We pray for understanding amongst ourselves, and for the strength that is needed so each of us can guide the others to become perfect beings.
We pray for the souls of all people of all nations of this world to be brought out of spiritual ignorance and into spiritual enlightenment

So ... hopefully I've given you some food for thought here. It is also worth reading Lobsang Rampa's "The Rampa Story" for his explanation on how prayer works (pages 142 - 146 [inclusive] of my copy, which was published by Corgi in 1972 [first pub. Souvenir Press, 1960], ISBN 0 552 07249 4).
