Post No. 701 - Our cats

These posts tend to be heavy, so I thought I’d throw one in that is light, on the imitation that our cats show. That started when my partner’s daughter was living here with her dog, Sebastian. Seb had the habit of using his cold, wet snoz (nose, for those of you unfamiliar with 60s Queensland and Victorian school yard slang ... although I've seen that elsewhere) to get attention. Now, all three cats we have do exactly the same – and a very disconcerting experience it can be, I tell you.

But it doesn’t stop there.

I like drinking coffee. So does Saffron.

Well, he doesn’t drink the coffee directly, he licks out the cup after I’ve finished it - if I let him: he’s limited to 2 cups a day, as even that has cut his daily nap time down to 20 hours or so.

Something else I do - or try to - is walking, for better health and fitness. For a whole range of reasons, including shelter from the weather, the convenience of being at home (particularly if I experience any of the effects of diabetes), I walk at home. I often joke that going from the front door to the back door 3 million times is a 2 km walk … Luna shares this theory, but she’s a bit smaller, so she does her 3 million laps from head to foot of the bed … every night, when I’m trying to get to sleep.

Finally, there is Willow. Well, Willow has started doing this strange yowling – it’s the sort of painful sound that usually means “Mum I can’t see you and I desperately need a pat” (or some form of reassurance), but what we’ve found is that he makes this yowling when he has an empty cardboard toilet paper roll in his mouth. The empty rolls been disappearing from the basked we put them in before recycling them, and reappearing on our bed (where the cats tend to deposit their toys for ready access in case they want to play). And the realisation is … he is imitating our attempts to care for others. But where we would heal someone, for instance, he liberates the empty cardboard toilet paper rolls, and takes them to be free in his home –the bed.

Ah, the joys of pets - provided one is caring and responsible.

PS – our experiences with our pets is another book I am working on, and I also expect to finish that one in a couple of decades or so.

[2] Please see here, here and my post "The Death of Wikipedia" for the reasons I now recommend caution when using Wikipedia. I'm also exploring use of h2g2, although that doesn't appear to be as extensive (h2g2 is intended - rather engagingly - to be the Earth edition of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy")
[3] I apologise for the formatting: it seems Blogger is no longer as WYSIWYG as it used to be, and there are a lot of unwanted changes to layout made upon publishing, so I often have to edit it immediately after publishing to get the format as close to what I want as possible.

My "blogiography" (list of all posts and guide as to how to best use this site) is here, and my glossary/index is here.

I started this blog to cover karmic regression-rescue (see here and here), and it grew ... See here for my group mind project, here and here for my "Pagans for Peace" project (and join me for a few minutes at some time between 8 and 11 PM on Sunday, wherever you are, to meditate-clear for peace), and here for my bindrune kit-bag. I also strongly recommend learning how to flame, ground and shield, do alternate nostril breathing, work with colour, and see also here and be flexible.
