Post No. 978 - NOT THIS WAY!

There have been reports of violence (e..g., see here and here for a particularly cowardly attack by someone who CHOSE to be hidden) at protests to express concern over the inauguration of US President Trump.

Such violence does NOT "express" anything except immaturity, and will only harden the positions of US President Trump, his supporters, and those like him. Furthermore, it directly feeds any nonBPM entities involved in those hardline positions - and I consider those engaged in such violence are both immature and probably under the direct influence of nonBPM entities: there is NO difference between them and those who are doing the work of violent extremists trying to create a Muslim-nonMuslim split by engaging in Islamophobia, NO difference between the damage being done to society by US President Trump AND BY THOSE VIOLENT PROTESTORS. (This comment also applies to those engaging in violence at world economic events.)

Gandhi, a person directing events in response to the direct killings of thousands and the indirect killing and harm of millions, said:
Do you fight to change things, or to punish?”

That could, perhaps, be extended to also include "do you fight to make yourself feel better, or to change things?"

Those engaging in violence may feel better, or that they have expressed something strongly, but THEY HAVE NOT.

They have contributed to fear, violence, and making this world a WORSE place - they do NOT represent me, let alone ANY of the people who are harmed by the attitudes of people like Trump and his ilk, and they are not doing any of the hard work that is needed to change the world, which requires things like:
  • working to enlighten and educate Trump;
  • educating all the people who fear the changes to society and want to go back to days when they were less aware and thought things were OK;
  • continue the currently necessary work of repeating past gains in human rights by teaching new generations of people - starting with children - and politicians why should be inclusive and why they should not be discriminatory in any way.
We keep losing some of the ground we have won, and that is, in part, because people take the easy way out and do things like indulge in violence or think that winning one battle is enough.

Time to stop being so simplistic, and start doing "the hard yards".

Love, light, hugs and blessings

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
