Post No. 599 – Language, links to concepts, and karma vs. victim blaming

When I think or write about karma, I DON’T mean fate, or “stuff happens” (no adults only filter, so I’ve toned that down): I mean the stuff that we created or set in motion, both good and bad, coming home to roost.

So, to me, karma is a way to face up to reality and understand what is going on.

Furthermore, knowing how to work with karmic energy DOES give you a way to change what is happening – not to avoid learning the lesson, but if you HAVE genuinely learnt the lesson, and won’t repeat the mistake (other than by accident, perhaps), then you can use the techniques here and here, together with the generation of positive (i.e., loving) energy, to change what is happening, to change what is coming back to you – and, in so doing, also help to heal and pay for the harm you did directly initially, and indirectly by flow on effects.

Then, when you have done all that, you can start to take better, more mature, control of what your life is like.

That is my understanding of it – but can it also be victim blaming?

Well, not as I use the term – but there are some who use karma as an excuse to judge and blame others, rather than use it as a tool to work on themselves, their actions/history and their life. Those people, those people who infer that they know other people’s karma (despite NOT being that person’s agreed, acknowledged and BPLF teacher, which is about the only way someone would get such inside knowledge), those people are victim blamers – and I can often feel the hate radiating off them, just as I can feel it radiating off those clamouring for the death of certain criminals.

Those people do NOT know anything about karma; they only know hate.

Also, remember that in any situation, irrespective of what is or is not happening karmically, you still have to act in accordance with the principles of BPLF (“spiritual”) behaviour.

When you have thought about this, read this link (warning: trigger around sexual assault and child abuse) and think the issues and aspects of the issues through from the points of view of karma, lessons, and tests of commitment to BPLF behaviour (I’ll give a hint here, and indicate that I consider those who abuse the whistle blower are failing tests and creating karma for themselves – as well as, in some cases, being downright stupid). It may also help if you can read The Reincarnations of Robert Macready" (Pub. 1980, Zebra, New York, ISBN 0-89083-703-1), which I reviewed here.

Now, while we’re thinking of links (in addition to many other things), one of the matters I’ve been working through is that links can be to more than people, places and astral energies: they can be to mental concepts, as well. So if, for instance, you are having trouble changing your thinking on a topic to a broader spiritual perspective, and you have worked through this conventionally (including clearing links to emotional issues, getting counselling, meditation, clearing karma, etc), then perhaps what you also need to do is look on higher “frequency” levels of reality, to see if you have energetic connections to ways of thinking that are now inappropriate, unhelpful, or that you recognise now as being plainly and simply “wrong”.

This is the sort of connection that could, in my view, be part of the problem that the group discussed in this link are finding themselves in situations that are racist, or are with racist people. Another view on this may describe the situation as being one that resides in the unconscious (I don’t use the term "subconscious", as that has, for me, connotations of being “lesser than” – which is not necessarily the case, particularly in terms of strength, power and ability to influence one’s life). That may be true – as may simple dishonesty (including lying to oneself). Beyond all that, however, there can be links on the mental level to clear - and, once that is done, the people being discussed may well find themselves not going to events where racists are, or doing things that lead to a view that they are racist (this does, of course, require that they genuinely not be racist ... ).

The good side of that, of course, is that there can also be links to good concepts, and THOSE, we can strengthen – just as we can strengthen astral (emotional) links, with positive (loving) energy – and love is a concept just as much as an emotion – perhaps more so.

This concept can also be used to strengthen good concepts, by clearing any negative (nonBPLF) links that the concept has to nonBPLF concepts. I’ll let you, Dear Reader, think that one through yourself :)

Finally, as my partner and I have been preparing for my next workshop on non-physical strength (she co-facilitates these with me), she reminded me of a wonderful exercise:

  • hold a glass out at arm’s length which is – in engineering parlance – twice as big as is needed (i.e., it is half full), and ask people to describe the glass;
  • let them discuss the half full vs. half empty perspectives, and then point out that, irrespective of how full or empty it is, if it is held out for long enough, it becomes too heavy to hold.

It’s a really useful little exercise. My partner uses it as a lead up to discussion of letting things go – for instance, not expecting one to keep being strong and doing everything for one’s family. To me, however, I am taking on a broader perspective, one that has a healthier, more balanced view on what is realistic or “proper”.

As another example, when the Hope, Peace, Love and Prosperity Spell was established, one of the things we wanted to achieve was a change of perspective in the Middle East, one where people would be willing to lay aside, or put on hold, their hate and desire for revenge, for the sake of a better future for their children. Now, some would best relate to that as “letting go” of hate, or “being forgiving” – but I personally relate best to it as “adopting a longer term perspective”.

Semantics perhaps, but that is an issue that is worth keeping in mind whenever trying to communicate: words often have different connotations, associations and powers for different people. And those different connotations, associations and powers are all correct …

As a final point, I’m hoping to do a slightly better version of my energy assessments tomorrow.

Have a great evening/night/day/time period :)

Post No. 442 - Reading

Well, I have just (well, it was "just" when I started this blog post :) ) had a day "going bush" for work, which was basically a case of driving about 180 km to northern Victoria for a few hours in order to run a workshop so a client could make some informed decisions about a report I'd written, then turn around and come home. To put that into context, it is a bit like driving from, in the UK, London to Flitcham in Norfolk and back, or, in France, from Paris to Normandy and back, or in Russia from Moscow to Vladimir and back, or in Germany from Berlin to Demmin and back (but probably not on roads that are anywhere near as good - on my trip the speed limit was 100 kmh in the country, less in towns), or in South Korea from Seoul to (ignoring the obvious border and political difficulties!) Wonsan and (miraculously) back. That is not a big drive here in Australia - when I was younger, I would sometimes drive 1,000 km on Saturday from Mack ay to Brisbane, spend the evening with my (adoptive) parents, and drive back the next day to start work on Monday (I think 1,500 km in a day is my peak ... now I like to limit a day's drive to no more than 400 km - I am, after all, getting older :) ).

(Since I started this post, I've had a trip to Brisbane, about 5% of the planet's circumference north, which was exhausting, included a chance to see my elderly father and one niece, and had a flight back where I distracted myself from Mr and Mrs Grumplestiltskin - they were tall, youngish, very electronically connected, very unhappy travellers - by watching the sun set from 30,000 feet [sadly, I didn't see the "green flash", but I could quite clearly see bands of green.)

It was a good trip, though - I was able to advocate for some things that will reduce pollution and save money, and give some guidance on how to prevent odour problems, so I felt useful.

Anyway, I stopped on the way back for some comfort (junk!) food, and while waiting for it, idly started reading a Marie Claire magazine - and found an article about the film "Sins of My Father" [2] , which is about Pablo Escobar's son, who, at the age of 14 apparently confronted his father about the violence Escobar Sr was responsible for, and, at the time of the film, was apparently seeking some sort of resolution of the grief and guilt he felt over his father's deeds by contacting the sons of two of his father's victims. The resolution was one of the men stating that the son was not responsible for the father.

And now, Columbia doesn't make the news - instead, we have all the problems in northern Mexico where, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_Drug_War, in the Year 2011 more than 12,000 people were murdered.

And almost all of these drugs - formerly from Columbia, now from Mexico - are probably for the USA market ... If you'll pardon me while I juggle my sarcasm tongue into my cheek, the war on drugs and "just say no" campaigns are obviously ever so effective. For Goddess' (and humanity's!) sake, can't someone make a serious effort at addressing the emotional, abuse and other problems that lead to serious drug use?

Of course, some of the drugs are no doubt used by people who think it is "fashionable" - maybe THOSE people should be shown the photos of what they are, effectively, paying other people to do in Mexico. Sigh - no, that isn't a serious suggestion, just an expression of my frustration, based partly on a joke from many years ago when I was persuaded to go to a tattoo show (I have a few tattoos ... well, as many as I could get - and I can hide every single one for work :) ), and when it turned out to be run by bikers, we ruefully joked (after we had left) that our entry fee had probably just paid for the next bullet they used in a battle.

So, after I did some reading, here's some reading for you, Dear Reader.

  • and another sad story, for which I have lit candles with the following message in the shrines for Tiewaz, Berkana and Cweorth "May all those who wrongly identified Sunil Tripathi as a criminal on social media be exposed to the the Divine justice that they deserve, in such a way that they learn to think more deeply and thus NOT make this mistake again, may he he be assisted with his passing, and may he and his family and friends/Significant Others receive the support and resources they need to be healed, all as is for HSG": "Body identified as student falsely implicated in Boston bombing", 26th April, 2013: http://www.theage.com.au/world/body-identified-as-student-falsely-implicated-in-boston-bombing-20130426-2ii9k.html;
  • on the other hand, why are this family carrying on when the two have admitted their criminal behaviour, and their victims have made the ongoing effects of the crimes known - do they think others wellbeing is so trivial compared to their own wishes???? (Candles would be for healing of all, and increased awareness for the family): "Gang jailed for wave of 'terror and violence' ", 24th April, 2013: http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/gang-jailed-for-wave-of-terror-and-violence-20130424-2idyj.html;
