Post No. 1,152 - Cross-Posting of a Poem

Following some further thought about a range of issues, including my previous post, I've come up with a poem about the struggle to stay ethical - with a title reflecting the myth of the person who, when asked about ethics supposedly said "It's a county in England".

It's repeated here for your convenience.
Once 'pon a time
Was young and brave
Heartily standing fast
'gainst the tides
of dishonour and disrepute.
Now,
Beaten and battered
by battle and battle and more
Weary of life in the bones
Desperately afeared
For those I bear,
Have passed through
Shades of grey
To the murkiness
That stains the soul
