Post No. 2,853 - Some interesting reading/viewing

Here are some llinks that might of interest or value:

  • “If You're Going To Watch Something...Make It This”   https://youtu.be/TKlAOxgcJPc   An elected US representative uses a speaking aid
  • despite the title, this video is more along the lines of the selection of names being the result of social biases/stereotypes. One of the comments raises an interesting point about twins, and I would like to know what happens when people either legally change their name or adopt a nickname:    “Evidence That Our Names Physically Change Our Faces Over Time”   https://youtu.be/jM-dKQE4HuA   I like that this is based on some sort of evidence, but, as raised in the video, there are significant cultural differences to take in to account, and, as NOT raised in the video, this could drift in to eugenics territory ...
    • from YouTube and elsewhere on neurodivergence:
      • “Episode 13: Labels & Autism - Special Episode”   https://youtu.be/JS7Q9NqhQpU   This is from a channel that was recommended to me recently that I am VERY impressed with so far

      • “Do autistic people see human nature more accurately? This is a good thing... ”   https://youtu.be/njS43UO8q4I

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
