Post No. 2,888 - Measuring the strength of spells

Something I have occasionally joked about is measuring the strength of spells/rituals/energy work in terms of the equivalent number of electric physical or digital candles.

It has all sorts of problems, of course, such as people having different levels of skills with different forms of magic, including candle magic, and thus that not being a uniform or standard basis for measurement.

However, I recently did some protection work for a place using physical electric candles, with quite noticeable benefits, and that suggested it may be a basis for me to start thinking about relative strength of spells/rituals/energy work for myself in terms of my digital candle spell units ...

Maybe others can find a similar basis that works for them? And in a century or so, maybe there will be a uniform or standard basis for measurement ...

By the way, I have only used electric physical candles for many years now. My initial motivation for that was fire safety, but digital candles are also better environmentally, and better for anyone present who has breathing issues/sensory sensitivities.

These days, I consider there to be no satisfactory excuse for using the old burning candles.

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
