Post No. 203 - The problem of deification

On pages 160 and 161 of "The Only Planet of Choice" by Phyllis V. Schlemmer is a description of some (extraterrestrial) entities who allegedly were deified into the Egyptian Gods. This concept, the concept that advanced humans subsequently are transformed into gods/goddesses by less advanced humans is one I have come across elsewhere (e.g., in Lobsang Rampa's books).

This time, however, it struck home. What if the Patron Deities I work with are really just very advanced humans?

Well, we all have the potential in us (at the level of our Higher Self) to do deity-like things, and there are lots of very advanced entities between us and Deity - including "the Nine" who are channelled in this book and Briefing for the Landing on Planet Earth ... Sanat Kumara (who, according to Alice Bailey, is the entity who enables life on Earth and heads the guiding hierarchy) and the Kumaras of the other planets, the Manu's who head up each nation/culture (according to Lobsang Rampa, which is different to the definition of Manu in Hinduism), etc.

But this time, the Aussie in me jacked up at the thought that things might not be as fair dinkum as they seem! (Crikey! Better have a Bex and a lie down after that Aussie colloquialism ... :) ) What if, instead of anthropomorphising the energies/influences we put into the form of these various Patron Deities, we just call upon the what it is we actually want?

So ... for example, instead of calling on the Lord and the Lady, we could say something like:
"We call upon all sentience, energies, deeds, things, places, cultures and other units that bring, sustain and nurture life ..."

Instead of invoking Gyhldeptis, who represents integration and synthesis, I could perhaps say:
"I call upon all sentience, energies, deeds, things, places, cultures and other units that create, manifest, increase or use beneficially the spirit of integration and synthesis ..."

I'll do some more thinking on this, and see if I can work up a ritual example based on this post.

For this to be successful, the people using it must be capable of relating to energies as if they were other people: many people switch off and assume a certain lack of awareness/lack of interactivity if they are told to invoke an energy that is absent when they invoke the image of a person. That "dumbing down" of how they view energies is, in my opinion, a flaw - after all, I have had considerable benefit from starting to view the runes as sentient energies, as suggested by Galina Krasskova in "Runes - Theory and Practice" (pub. 2010 by Career Press, ISBN-13 978-1-60163-085-8, see here and here).

In my case, I would continue to work with the energies as I outlined here, but without giving them personifications.

And yet I am also continuing to practise the projection and personification of my chakras ... :)

Hmmm.
