Post No. 3,506 - What do warriors do in a post conflict society?

Spiritual - and personal/moral - evolution leads to number of advantageous outcomes, and one of those is (or should be) a reduction in all forms of conflict as collaborative resolution becomes the norm, rather than drama, quests for social status, sadism/narcissism/etc.

That reduction will also include a reduction in war - in fact, an elimination of intra-planetary war.

When that happens, there is a question about what to do with former soldiers.

Some will still be needed for defence, but those that are not will need to be integrated into society - which is a major aspect of things like ending the decades of war, often entangled with drugs or blood minerals, in some regions around the world (regions which could have been rich if their resources were used properly, for the benefit of the people of those regions).

This includes economic challenges such as finding jobs for everyone, social justice issues such as the utterly essential accountability (on ALL sides - and there can be many more than two) for past abuses, and dealing with trauma (including of civilians) from both the experience of war, and training for war, which can be incredibly psychologically, morally, and spiritually damaging.

This also applies to nonphysical conflicts, such as the current world struggle against fascism, neoliberalism, a and the ultra-rich elites of the world: one day that war will be won by us, the ultra-rich elites will disappear, and healing society will include all the matters raised above.

Now, at this point I want to point out that this article wasn’t inspired by consideration of physical events, but by some channelled comments by ETs about “warrior species” - which may be the biases of the medium, but, be that as it may, the topic is still going to be valid for us - or, more accurately, those of us who survive the climate crisis and are alive in a few centuries.

From the point of view of the now former warrior, what they do now, in war cursed cultures, is (as a generic simplification):

(1) try to survive the adaptation back to civvies;

(2) try to heal;

(3) face a personal choice: either try to build/rebuild, or try protection/security to try to justify what they have been through

What they do when the violent conflict is gone is (as a generic simplification):

(1) adapt to the change;

(2) heal as best they can;

(3) do something to build OR take the protection/security role into the nonphysical (protection can be against the innocently disharmonious - not all “war” is against evil).

And, in all cases, during the conflict, IF possible, keep some focus on minimising the trauma - especially the moral injury, and do what damage control can be done now.

That last point applies to those doing the work of this blog.

Remember: we generallyoneed to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgenderingois an act of activeotransphobia/transmisiaothat puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptoroto prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).

Post No. 3,210 - Last night’s sleepstate work

Last night’s lucid dreaming work included some interesting sensory and dexterity actions with my hands, but it also:

  • showed the extent to which people want to believe hiding something from sight fixes it - which can be a defence or coping mechanism, but also means can put on a convincing facade of happiness at the supposed ending of a problem that has, at most, just been shifted elsewhere. This does not necessarily mean that superficiality should be torn away, as there is a real risk of people not being able to cope with what they see and being psychologically damage, but it DOES mean those people should stop interfering with those of us who can see the problem, and want to do so as part of finding a solution (which may require cognitive dissonance on their part, but if that is what they need to stay sane for now [especially if they have past trauma - which judgemental IPOCs likely will not know of], then - so long as they do not interfere with others who can look, so be it);
       PS - I am NOT considering actions such as the blatant gaslighting by the USA
    ’socurrentoheadoofostate in this discussion. The preceding is limited to the everyday interactions of people who do not have significant socio-ecomomic-political power.
  • there has been some commentary on podcasts that I listen to (or, more accurately, read the transcripts of) about life being for the purpose of gaining experience. That is true, but I have now been able to pin down my discomfort with how that has been presented, which is that it is from the perspective of a comfortable middle class westerner. Yes, we do need to gain a wide range of experiences (including a range of genders and sexualities), but we also, and more importantly, have to learn how to be better atospiritualolove - climbing a mountain over 8,000omoin height is significant, and may teach us about organisation, will power/determination/keeping going, MAYBE (not always, given the egos that used to be involved) team work, but if it involves ignoring the litter and, most important of all, walking past the human suffering and/or lack of realised human potential (which is not quite development - it adds an ethical element often missing from westerner’s considerations of that topic) then it is only a fraction of an experience - something that is missing what should be at its heart. Edmund Hillary was the second man to reach and return safely from the summit of Qomolangma/Sagarmatha/Mount Everest, after Tenzing Norgay, but he followed that up by spending years helping build schools in Nepal - that shows what experience is about: it’s not a mindless point scoring exercise.
    However, the aspect that I consider those in the podcasts have been advocating for also needs to be acknowledged: having experiences that are different to the norm
    (suchoasoexperiencing a rangeoofogendersoandosexualities), or seemingly failing to meet societal norms, are valid - often more so than the experience of beingoconformist.
    Just don
    ’t forget that that some experiences people seem to be going through is actually a test of those around them, to see if the bystanders have yet learned empathy and compassion.
