Post No. 1,680 - Magickal Battle of the World - Weekly Meditation - Week No. 26 - The New, and Discernment

Black Lives Matter!

Stay safe - wash your hands, practice social distancing and wear a face mask in public, and follow informed medical advice - and be considerate towards those at risk or in situations of vulnerability (including economic) while the COVID-19 pandemic is a problem.

I have been writing about improving the world through a range of means on my blogs: this blog has been focused on spiritual and psychic means, including strengthening  BPM  units and clearing nonBPM units, and meditation to generate BPM energy (and units, if you know enough).

This has been done before - particularly during times of crisis.

The climate crisis has been our World War III for some time (with the denialists being, at the very least, the WW3 equivalents of Quisling, Vichy France, etc), and we now have the COVID-19  pandemic, caused by the zoonotic  SARS-CoV-2  novel coronavirus (there are other novel coronaviruses), on top of that.

World War II was probably the biggest global crisis before our current dual crises, and during those terrible events, there were a number of people undertaking magickal work, including  the work by Dion Fortune (there were others) outlined in the Gareth Knight edited book "The Magical Battle of Britain" (my copy pub. Skylight Press, 2012, ISBN 978-1-908011-45-9), which I reviewed here. Ms Fortune directed her team through a series of 136 weekly and (I think) 19 monthly meditations (I originally intended to publish a list at some stage, but it’s so long and comprehensive that I’m concerned about breaching copyright, so I may either see if I can find an online list, or publish something listing the broad themes only). At the end of this, she was exhausted, and that work is considered to have contributed to her death, but a change for the better had been accomplished.

We already have a lot of people doing a lot of work on making the world a better place (including before the current crises), but I would like to extend my contribution to also include a series of weekly - or near weekly - meditations along the line of those directed by Ms Fortune.

I am proposing this be added to the Sunday meditations which are part of my regular psychic work. For convenience, an outline of the meditation is provided at the end of this post.

The notes on each week’s meditation will probably be brief to the point of being terse.

This Week: No. 26 -  The New, and Discernment

Despite the unthinking addictions of many people to change, the new, and the distraction of all that is glitzy or glamorous, the new is not necessarily better than the old.

Disagree?

Then remember that fascism was once new.

So too, for that matter, were all forms of discrimination and hate.

Some new things are good - democracy was once new, for instance.

And as far as technology goes, much of the Industrial Revolution and industrial development was once thought good - for instance, motor cars meant not having tons of horse manure on the streets.

Agriculture, which enabled what we know of civilisation (good and bad), but has also resulted in massive clearing and environmental degradation, was thought a great thing when it was developed as it gave the promise of no more hard seasons or years when food was scarce.

The Internet and mobile phones have enabled better connection and access, but what that had also enabled white supremacists to connect.

On the other hand, just as slavery was once a new idea, so too was abolition.

I’m going to propose a classification here:

·         firstly, matters that, in and of themselves, are not necessarily bad, but how they are used determines that - a lot of technology fits into that category, but that impact may also be subject to how much or for how long it is used;

·         secondly, ideas and other things which can either be good (e.g., democracy) or bad (e.g., fascism).

Now, in principle, you apply the lessons of weeks 23 (Tradition) and 24 (The outmoded).

(Weeks 27 - Insight, 28 - Preciseness, 29 - Learning, 30 - Measurement, 31 - Evolution, 32 - Perspective, and 33 - Wisdom may also help.)

Points to consider more specifically are:

·         how much of the reaction to the new matter is driven by the desire - yours or others - to lord it over others? To show off as more up to date, or that one is in some way more desirable or superior?
Anything where that is the only advocacy for it being good should not only be discarded, it should be actively opposed for the harm that it is doing;

·         what are the effects on people’s behaviour of the new matter?
Television was opposed out of concern it would promote violence, harm eyes, and disrupt family behaviour - such as interfering with family matters. Some of that has been disproven (damage to eyes, I think, but blue screen time can disrupt sleep), some of it has led to moving on from outmoded traditions (such as formal family meals) or led to new family traditions (such as gathering round the TV instead of the radio - harder once variety of choice became an issue), and the jury is still out - in my opinion of some matters (such as the effects of exposure to violence).
Nuance is key here - and loss of time for other matters may be a real problem;

·         as with the previous item, but for:

o   society;

o   causes such as freedom and democracy, spirituality, etc?

o   problems such as fear, selfishness, etc?

o   the human species;

o   the environment;

o   the future;

·         what are the known side effects of the new matter?
The dangers of car crashes were worked out within a couple of decades, but that, as with the dangers of smoking, were opposed for the sake of profit. Thus, knowing the truth is not necessarily easy.
On top of that, most matters are not all clearly bad (fascism is clearly all bad) or good: be precise, and address the good and bad separately. How much there is of each matters, as does the potential for changing that mix (consider momentum and changing same - and the difficulty of changing something is separate to where it is good/bad now, will be good/bad in the future or if condition X changes);

·         what are the “unknown” side effects of the new matter?
Now, when considering this, remember that, to some extent, the problems of air pollution were known very early on (1800s, from memory), but those were predictions, and atmospheric measurements could not back them up for some time. That does, however, give a clue to how to start making a determination of the potential for unconsidered side effects: see who is making predictions, and consider - not their character - but their intellect, quality of thinking, and quality and quantity of evidence, as well as the content itself.
When I am teaching people about using new wastewater treatment processes, I comment that most of what is to be discovered about that process is not good. In fact, for better or worse, it is worth repeating that advice (written many years ago)  here:

o   relate all the available knowledge to fundamental principles;

o   how does one start, operate and stop the process as a whole, and each system?

o   what feedback (whether sensory [e.g. smell, seeing foam], instrument or test) triggers decision making (flow charts can be useful);

o   what are the limits (min, av. and max.) on everything – especially the basic equations/theory? Have trials been in different circumstances?;

o   are bench scale and/or pilot plant trials needed?;

o   when starting, take the time to watch everything;

o   review and adapt as necessary (may have to argue over budget);

o   most of what is not known about a new process is probably bad, and will need to be overcome (i.e. the initial development was NOT “most of the work”, or the biggest hurdle);

o   the infrastructure required to support a new process (including the provision of operational support and skills) is often a key determinant in whether or not it will become widely accepted;

o   establishing standards, imposing constraints and achieving routine often mark the point at which a new process has become mainstream;

o   significantly different processes may lead to other changes – e.g. membrane developments have paved the way for Class A reuse, which has come with a host of structural changes to the water industry and organisations within the water industry: it may be best if these changes can occur together, or at least be kept in mind as the process is refined and developed;

·         what exactly is the evidence you have used in making the above decisions, and how well does that evidence stack up when subjected to that same sort of critique?;

·         how much of your assessments of the above - for and against - is driven by your internal biases, not to mention your worldview? That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it isn’t necessarily a good thing, either - and can cause errors of judgement on your part.
Re-visit that every year or so.

PS - being popular is NOT the same as "good" . . .

This week’s sigils are for discernment (the bindrune was actually for insight, but fits this week’s purpose)

The Meditation (see here, here, and here) consists of:

 - appropriate and responsible protection (see here, here, here), prayer and ritual (e.g., here) to establish and check protection (re-do the protection, or re-schedule the meditation, if you don’t feel safe and secure);

 - establish a personal connection to your Higher BPM influences;

 - visualise the sigil (see above) for this work. Think of what this work means for you as you do so, then, when you feel you have fully tuned in to the meaning of the sigil, see it as a portal or doorway (you could open it like a door [close it behind you], simply pass through it, visualise yourself shrinking and passing through the centre, or whatever else works best for you), and travel through to to a place created by the visualisation of yourself and others for this work. That place should have:
     (a) a visualisation of the workplace you personally prefer - something you can change, if you wish, as you yourself change;   and
     (b) a shared visualisation of a device to astrally share our knowledge, something developed in a previous project (still active astrally): a visualisation of a large, green, multifaceted emerald. Large: around half the size of the Moon; multifaceted - billions, for all people who wish to be part of this at any time; green - largely tied up with the previous project, but has connotations of nature and growth. One of those facets is yours - choose whatever location and shape you wish (and you may change that as you change [grow] over time), but in the interest of humility and sharing, see it at around human - or human aura - size;

 - flush one's aura with green (R0, G102, B0), blue (R0, G0, B204) and purple (R153 G0, B204);

 - fill one’s Heart Chakra (and maybe one’s Earth Star, Solar Plexus, Third Eye and Crown Chakras) with green, blue and purple; send a weave of three streams of this colour from the Chakra(s) to the visualised gigantic, multi-faceted emerald through your facet until you see your energy enlivening other areas of the emerald and can feel similar energies flowing back to you;

 - visualise the rune / bindrune (if given - or, on Sunday, the group of symbols provided);

 - generate  feelings of love, peace, joy and respect;

 - strengthen those feelings (energies);

 - radiate those energies to the world for nine to eighteen minutes;

 - then, on Sunday, also perform the additional meditation work for around 15 minutes or so: contemplate the topic, and the spiritual (i.e., nonphysical) implications of it, and seek insights and understanding. Do not be distracted by thoughts of physical actions - those are necessary also, but this exercise is about the nonphysical, in the broadest possible sense, and the focus should be on nonphysical actions, energy flows, symbols, and the like, all with the intention of bringing about a change for the better. As a second stage, if you wish, you can meditate on any physical actions which may be necessary, but get the spiritually focused work done first;

 - when you have finished your work:
     (i) send the thought of any knowledge you wish to store or share through your portal into the group visualised emerald;
     (ii) return back through the sigil; and
     (iii) close your chakras, centre and ground yourself and close your aura, use the banishing version of the LBRP to open circle, ground and release all excess energy; and make sure you are grounded and closed down – eat, if you need to, or seek help from someone capable and trusted.
