Post No. 2,089 - Relative Strength and Efficacy of Magick

If someone is doing magick without training, they're like someone who is using a hose with the nozzle adjusted to provide a wide spray, rather than a concentrated stream - and possibly with kinks in the hose behind the person that restrict the flow.

Someone who is trained in magick, however, will be doing the magickal equivalent of making sure the hose is free of kinks, and that the nozzle is set to a focused stream - the flow they are directing will, all other things being equal, be more effective.

If you're on the receiving end of a psychic attack, the spray will mean you need a light umbrella, whereas the more concentrated stream may need more solid shield.

The other issue that crops up here is the source of energy - the source of the water in the analogy.

For most untrained people, the source is strong emotions - someone performing a psychic attack will be angry and hateful, and that is likely to last for some time, and may drag some other flows into it as well - a bit like the conspiracy fantasist anti-vaxxers and their protests against life saving measures.

Connecting into power sources is not easy - even if trained, and the majority of such sources will only engage with BPM activities. The entities and energy sources that are accessible for nonBPM goals are, in my experience, generally fewer in number (FAR fewer) and weaker - but still strong enough to be of concern.

To summarise (and this is something I have written about before)

  • magick requires energy;
  • trained practitioners are more efficient with that energy;
  • trained practitioners are more likely to be able to access stronger energy sources;
  • strong energy sources (and there are many in the natural world - and one's own innermost, truest essence [one's Higher Self] is also inherently BPM [although many people cannot access it - or don't listen, and thus wind up unevolved, unspiritual bigots - one of the most powerful defences you can use against psychic attack is aiding the attacker's Higher Self to contact the person]) are more likely to be BPM, and stronger than nonBPM, but careful effort, intent and utilisation of energy are required to defend against the nonBPM;
  • emotion is a powerful source of energy, and often a source of magickal effects that reflect the nature of the emotion (BPM effects if the emotions are BPM, nonBPM effects if the emotions are nonBPM, a mixed bag if the emotions are a mix - e.g., problems with unconscious bias, or unacknowledged emotions)
  • although less skilled defences are required for the untrained haters, their attacks are likely to persist for longer - enduring / outlasting / persisting past a psychic attack is often one of the most effective strategies;
  • don't throw oil onto burning oil.
