Post No. 1,800 - Interesting Reading/Viewing and Posts from my Other Blogs

A continuing question and other matters:

Hey @TheElders and @AfricanUnion, given the widespread suffering, are you going to do anything for Uganda this year?   @amnesty   #SaveUganda   #StandwithUganda

This week I have made the following posts on my other blogs:

Political Musings of Kayleen:

  • Thailand
Thailand is a land of 70 million well-educated people, with the world’s 18th largest economy [1].
Thailand, first occupied by humans at least 20,000 years ago (with signs of rice cultivation from 4,000 years ago) has a long history of independence, dating back officially to 1238, when a local Tai leader took advantage of the declining Kingdom of Pagan in (largely central) Burma to rebel against Khmer (or Angkor) Empire in Cambodia and establish the Sukhothai Kingdom.
    . . .
The nation is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been colonised by a European power, but was invaded by Japan during World War Two . . . Significantly, there was a Thai resistance movement to that occupation and alliance . . .
Overall, events since 2005, and particularly since 2019, show the problems that occur when people in power decide to try to cling to that power, possibly out of fear of change . . .
That resistance is likely, in my opinion, to ultimately be successful, so the military need to make a decision . . .
Time, in my opinion, for those militaries to grow up - they have enough issues to face, as does Thailand generally, with the desire for self determination that discrimination has increased in the south, dealing with problems being exported by Burma, statelessness issues, and their likely unwilling involvement in the geopolitical standoff between the USA, China, and India.
    Consider this
    hierarchy of needs for nations:

  • March4Justice: a caution
Although the "more than 40" March4Justice events were impressive - particularly the numbers, passion and eloquence, I wish to sound one note of caution: . . .
To get realistic change, in my opinion we need to get rid of the government of Scott and Dutton.
To get rid rid of the government of Scott and Dutton, we need to shift votes from the conservative (including rabid haters like the ONP) to the progressive side of politics.
     . . .
PPS - Scott, Dutton and their ilk are the most misogynistic people I have ever come across. This is irrespective of any sexual assaults: it has to do with actions such as turning their backs on women when they're speaking and silencing those speaking for women and minorities, grabbing hands to shake without consent, and the utter abomination of needing lessons on empathy - and the malice that is shown by smirking about it all. The word evil, in my opinion, fits.

Musings of Kayleen:

  • Autumn in Gresswell (photos)
Taken on a short but much needed break. I don't normally get to Gresswell on weekdays, and it was good to see so many people (including parents with young 'uns) enjoying nature - even if I did have to wait a little to get the photos I wanted 😊 , which was a trivial thing.
You may notice a mesh fence in one photo: that is an area which has been isolated so it can recover from the effects of urban animals and higher population of roos and wallabies. The area is being tended, however: in a few weeks there will be cultural burns.
