Post No. 2,618 - the evolution of real estate agents

We just renewed our rental lease, and I have to say that real estate agents - or maybe just ours - have evolved:

  • they had the usual dancing around legal requirements to have pets wherever reasonable in the standard part of the contract, but then included the specific allowances that were the key part of why we agreed to move here: having our pets;
  • there was an acknowledgement of the risks of doing things online in two ways:
    • a statement was included that best endeavours would be applied to online security, and
    • a stylised digital signature was used, rather than insisting on us using our actual official signatures, which is a major risk;
  • the frequency of our house inspections was reduced - which is a reflection of my partners outstanding ability in that area, as I am more ... pragmatic;
  • there was a rent increase, but it was modest and - for us - affordable.

I consider it likely that changed legislation in my home state has had an impact on this, but it is also possible that real estate agents have wanted to learn from the mistakes of their compatriots.

Possible flaws

Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:

  • there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan  Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”
  • I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, and to mind our Mӕgan, and acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk.
