Post No. 3,083 - Reflections on the past week, and some interesting reading/viewing [Content Warning - oppression/bigotry/hate/violence/abuse/war. Reader discretion is advised]

Note: CONTENT WARNING - some of this content is about upsetting, disturbing or triggering events & attitudes. Seek competent help - including professional - if you need it. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised that linked articles may contains names and/or images of deceased people. READER CAUTION IS RECOMMENDED! For anyone distressed by anything in this post, or for any other reason considering seeking support, resources are available in Australia here, here, and here. In other nations, you will have to do an Internet search using terms such as mental health support - <your nation>(which, for instance, may lead to this, this, and this, in the USA, or this, this, and this, in France [biased towards English-language - my apologies]), or perhaps try https://www.befrienders.org/

This is a spiritual blog, and therefore I am going to begin this post with a link to a video that I consider covers some very important points:

“Importance of Self Love - Midday With Rev Don”   https://www.youtube.com/live/qVUHXuZUdzg   Starting from coming across a “vile, hate-filled” social media post, this episode the problems of not changing worldviews when we know they do not work, of abusing children by teaching them that it is better to die than change their (hateful) worldview, of failing to accept difference or adapt to different circumstances through history/over time, and other important points

The purposes of this post are:

(1) to provide information, including news, which may be of interest, value, or use to Readers;

(2) to identify both BPM and nonBPM opportunities to do the work of this blog (particularly clearing nonBPM nonphysical  units,   BPM  healing,   and   BPM  strengthening of BPM units);   and

(3) to help engage and frame my emotional, mental, and other nonphysical (psychic, spiritual, Higher Self, BPM  Guides, etc) aspects both for doing my weekly PWR and for doing the work that flows from the PWR - which may also occur for some others.

Some of the news information will likely be distressing - hence the content warning, to allow people to choose times they have high energy and/or are in a good state to view these, or to ensure they have access to support resources if they may be triggered, or to choose to either temporarily or permanently skip viewing this post or the News sections, as is best for their health and wellbeing.

Within the news section, I generally try to identify what is considered “good” news in green, possibly also with green background, but owing to time, energy, and health limitations, may not always be able to do so.

URLs of sources of news and/or information are included as in-text hyperlinks.

News:

On the existential climate crisis and nuclear threats this week:      increased logging will be allowed in the USA, and coal mining  will be expanded ... ;      a young climate crisis protestor has pointed out that climate disasters cause mental health problems;      pet dog owners need to improve their behaviour;      a coal mining company’s attempt to start a Supreme Court case in Australia against climate activists is not progressing according to the case’s Judge (ongoing problems with their documentation seems to be the main issue);       “northern Thai communities put nature before profit

In the global war against the radical right/f_s c_sm (including their networks, and their goose-stepping thugs - who can, must, and will be held to account for their sadistic abuses and usurpations that have been so egregiously destructive of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness) this week (and for links on what can be done - now, see Resistance Labs, “How to Think (and Act) Like a Dissident Movement” (The Bulwark), here [Indivisible], Hands Off 2025, and Dem-Optimism and this [Robert Reich] and this [AOC] and this [Devon Price] aand this [PBS Voices] and this [on burnout] and this [efficacy of nonviolent protest] and this book and this book and this and these links ):

Overall/in summary, reviewing a range (remember, this is global, not USA-focused) of press reports and commentary has left me with the following impressions:   all that matters for the tyrant is power; all that matters for the tyrant's devotees is petty exercise of power - to feel more influential, unaccountable, and unassailable in the moment, with no thought of any accountability other than further abuse of power to try to fend off the inevitable. Love does not exist in that state of being ...

Also in the USA, where their current president, who has been persistently  sanewashed by the mainstream  media, has committed abuses and usurpations that are egregiously destructive of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, this week, we have:

  • massive protests against what the current US president and his chief lickspittle are doing to the USA - see here. This suggests the 2026 “mid-term” elections will go the way of progressives, which will enable effective fighting back against the current wave of fascism, but some damage is irreversible, and the longer term structural problems that allowed this to happen need to be addressed;      an excellent critique of the US Democrats failing over the last few months and what they need to do now;      a reminder that the current economic disaster WAS PREDICTED BEFORE THE 2024 US ELECTIONS ... and now some ultra-rich financial CEOs are experiencing buyers regret as the current US president’s pre-elections promises are comprehensively discredited ... ;      an opinion that the current US president wants an early recession “so he and his fellow billionaires can buy up everything cheap and then enjoy the ride upward”;      as the attorney for a protestor is detained, more than 500 US law firms have signed on to a brief challenging the current US president’s executive orders against the legal community - see also this commentary   ...   and the current US president has NOW ADMITTED THOSE FIRMS HE HAS ATTACKED DID NOTHING WRONG;      a US member of Congress is blocking the approval of 300 of the US regime’s nominees;      a crypto corporation has been pardoned, and the DoJ’s crypto-crime unit shut down ... ;      a major, anti-voting, misogynistic and other Project 2025 bigotry infested act has passed the USA’s House of Representatives - WITH THE SUPPORT OF SEVERAL DEMOCRATS!!!;      a debunking of the lies being told by the current US regime about the costs and places of US spending on support for Ukraine (which is less than Europe*s support, mostly spent on new equipment in the USA with the old, nearly out-of-date kit to Ukraine - and a total spend half of what is being claimed);      more reasons this week for modest optimism;      a defamation case against the current US president will be allowed to proceed;
  • white supremacists are defending outlets of a notorious EV brand (and are police going to choose the side of doing their job which is to defend democracy?);      allegations of ethical concerns about the white house’s press secretary;

This week, noting this call to bear  witness (further noting the cautions on hate speech here, here, here, and here,   and this and these “links for activism”,   see the decision on the “Legal Consequences arising from the Policies and Practices of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem”, and note this pending [and disputed] case [South Africa v. Israel] regarding alleged genocide and this pending [and disputed] case regarding the “Obligations of Israel in relation to the Presence and Activities of the United Nations, Other International Organisations and Third States in and in relation to the Occupied Palestinian Territory” from the ICJ), the Israel-Palestine war has seen:

In other international news, including the illegal and unprovoked war against Ukraine (noting the pending [and disputed] alleged genocide cases for The Gambia v. Myanmar, with seven States intervening,   Ukraine v. Russian Federation,   Sudan v. United Arab Emirates at the ICJ and these “links for activism”):

  • more than 35,000 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory has been successfully demined as Ukraine struggles to train more soldiers for a constantly changing battlefield;      a US n__-n_ z_ t_rr_r_st group headed by a former FBI & Pentagon employee is trying to arrange sabotage attacks for Russia inside Ukraine;      French President Macron will reportedly be Europe’s point person in negotiations with Russian President Putin;      Ukraine has commented Russia likely wants to avoid a ceasefire in the Black Sea so it can keep launching attacks from there;      significant  evidence of Chinese  support for Russia - which China  denies;      as their Prime Minister visits the site of mass atrocities committed by Russians against Ukrainian civilians (“we will not look away”), Belgium has pledged a $1 billion defence package;      possible sanctions against Russia*s shadow oil fleet;      Ukraine will not accept any limitations on its forces as part of negotiations with Russia;

In human  rights  news:

  • a US judge appointed by their current president has dismissed ludicrous charges by a notorious transphobe;      yet more ludicrous anti-trans lies;      more attempts to kill trans schoolkids in the USA;      in my nation (Australia), a mother of a transgender teenager has started  legal action  against the Queensland Health Director-General in response to the state’s recent suspension of puberty blockers and HRT for new patients under 18, which would force her daughter through “absolutely shattering” trauma;      an appallingly extreme anti-trans bill in a US state has been defeated after a NB representative*s speech led to 17 conservatives crossing the floor;      a US museum has been given the choice between actively committing transphobia and decency;
  • a series  examining the return of torture advocates in the USA;      US police violence without any attempt at de-escalation against a drunk, autistic teenager holding a knife with is being criticised;      a US state is proposing life sentences for almost all abortions;      in Jamaica and Mexico a call has been made to protect migrant workers and reassess detention practices;      a “grubby” bill attempting to “reinterpret” the founding Treaty  of Waitangi of Aotearoa/New Zealand (in what would seem to me to be a racist/white supremacist way) has been SOUNDLY REJECTED;
  • in response to a violent, unannounced raid by dozens of police armed with tasers into a UK Quakers’ Meeting House where protest group Youth Demand were holding a public meeting, hundreds of Quakers have attended a silent worship meeting outside New Scotland Yard.

In societal and governance matters:      a very well written call for poverty to be considered during the current Australian election campaign;      how billionaires are dodging taxes;      corruption is costing Africa over $88 billion every year;      accusations in the UK of a ‘Minority Report’-style tool (complete with all the usual biases and other flaws of such systems) to attempt to predict likely murderers.

From a spiritual perspective:      what is required, particularly in view of the summary above, is good, BPM human connection, compassion, and love - and, in particular, seeing the BPM human connections of those we love, and realising that we are all connected, and that impacts, good or bad, can be for lifetimes or longer

On the resistance to fascism:

  • “Our politicians seem to be terrified of us. Why is that?” https://youtu.be/rdm0ntUEwdc This (UK-based) video argues that this is because they take the neoliberal view that we are nothing more than economic units which only think of financial wealth, and accordingly try to impose something that we all know is wrong - but neoliberalism has failed, leading to their fear and refusal to admit that there is a better way, which is for government to be “run on the basis of caring for people, not on the basis that people are economic units of production. Government should be run for the benefit of everybody, not just for the benefit of the wealthy. Government should be there to liberate people to achieve their potential”
  • a criticism of rational technocrats’ appalling and dangerous incompetence with history;
  • “More BBQ Please - Midday With Rev Don”   https://www.youtube.com/live/5dbZZ1bYt2o   Excellent commentary on how changes over time can make cherished things impossible (such as recreating manufacturing), why people may do things (in particular, exaggerated emotional reaction, rather than any real or sensible [rational] reason), and changing values, commentary on death cleaning (which is something I’m also doing, and the commentary on Aristotelian idea of moderation & that many things are spectrums, not polar opposites.
  • “‘Sick to death’: Economist slams billionaires telling working Americans not to worry”   https://youtu.be/HhmTvM9IcMU
  • “[the current US president] is threatening the world. What should it do in response?”   https://youtu.be/hNDzm5ZMNRA   We don’t want the low standards of the USA, and the assumptions being made by [the current US president] are absurd but he has, and is determined to stick to, a plan - so the world has to choose, and one option is to replicate the current international organisations WITHOUT any US influence/power, and thus are focused on benefits to people, not corporate profit/US power ... if he is not resisted, we will see “a fascist state imposed by trade war”   I am considering how to campaign in support of the suggestion of new world organisations ... beginning with sending the details to my federal MP
  • “Trump only simulates madness”   https://robertreich.substack.com/p/trump-only-simulates-madness   “The rest of us pay the price”   I don’t entirely agree with this (I think the current US president is mentally unwell), but there are valid points to consider - about his dangerousness in any case

Here are some llinks that might also be of interest or value:

  • “What if we asked, “Are you okay?” Reclaim community from toxic individualism”   https://youtu.be/bujCmdYYPlc   Evidently this creator hasn’t heard of RU OK?, but, in context of helping a stranger on a train (which inspired this video), it is worth a view and a think and maybe an implement ...
  • “Capitalism co-opted humanitarianism. We can save it”   https://www.thenewhumanitarian.org/opinion/2025/04/07/capitalism-co-opted-humanitarianism-we-can-save-it   “How capitalism kills humanitarianism   ...   The rejection of capitalist humanitarianism must also be a priority that is fortified by donors aligning with local and national actors, while also avoiding replication of the problems with the international humanitarian architecture.   A new system is possible, one in which we will all have dramatically different roles to play.”
  • “The end of Western values”   https://www.thenewhumanitarian.org/preview-link/node/263936/03ebd99f-846b-42d7-8a83-c8433a9eb240   “Africans, Asians, or Latin Americans never lacked the values that were coded as “Western”. They just had different frameworks for expressing them, frameworks that did not require the spectacle of benevolence or the politics of dependency and domination.   ...   Is tolerance a “Western value” when, for example, it was colonialism that introduced homophobia to many African societies and then coded it as “African culture”?   ...   This moment is not an aberration; it is an unveiling. The Western-led global order has always operated on selective morality, elevating human rights when convenient and discarding them when inconvenient. The Global South has long known this, having experienced firsthand the reality behind the rhetoric.”   I agree with this (and urge you to read the article to get all the other nuances and illustrations of points), and note especially the concept Ubuntu (see here, and here)
  • I include these to provide ammunition for use against neochristians/christo-fascists, and this one is a doozy:   “DEI Is Biblical!”   https://youtu.be/-hisMl9yVwY   ““Diversity equity inclusion are Christian values.”   ...   diversity is God’s creation ... equity is God’s justice ... and inclusion is God’s family   ...   whenever God get gets angry at people it’s usually about the injustice”
  • also from YouTube:
    • from YouTube and elsewhere on neurodivergence:
      • “Why autism portrayal is one-dimensional—and how to change it | Chloé Hayden | TEDxSydney Youth”   https://youtu.be/wKUDd58CrY4   “Autism isn’t just one story or one type — it’s a spectrum as diverse as a colour wheel. In this powerful talk, Chloé Hayden, an award-winning actress and disability rights activist, challenges the stereotypes surrounding autism and advocates for a world where autistic individuals are free to simply be themselves, without labels or expectations.”   A very eloquent, informative, and persuasive presentation

      • “Autistica | See us as individuals, not stereotypes”   https://youtu.be/0IqkntBhhJg   “For World Autism Acceptance Month, we want you to see autistic people as individuals, not stereotypes”

      • “Top 5 Signs YOU Might Be Autistic!”   https://youtu.be/H2198y6-iHQ   And three suggestions on what to do if you could be

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
