Post No. 338 - [Content Warning: war, violence, attitudes, superficiality, nonBPM {aka "negative"} energy] Well it's war, Jim, but not as we know it

Yesterday was Remembrance Day. At 11, I went downstairs and out to a small garden in front of my building, and read the Hope, Peace, Love and Prosperity spell, as I recently suggested. No-one else at my workplace seemed to be doing anything, although the construction workers next door held a minute's silence (my time was slightly off, according to their siren, which sounded as I was still observing my silence :) ), and there were a few media articles - one about thinking about the survivors of war (although the article seems to be only focused on military, and doesn't raise what war does to survivors - see here [and also here and here]: I wrote a short story once [there is a draft here] about some of the "extra" effects of war, those beyond the battlefield). I would expect there would be some formal remembrances, though. (By the way, I quietly kept my efforts going, to see if I could contribute to any special magnification of peace or spiritual development by doing something at 11:11 on 11/11/11 ... )

Now, I share this planet with 7 billion incarnated humans, many discarnate humans (BPF [1] Guides, helpers, well-meaning dead relatives and friends, and a large number of earthbound humans - cooperative and uncooperative), and many non-human forms of life. One of the things I have found, is that it is easier to accomplish things when a significant number of those 7 billion humans are thinking about the same outcome. So, things like Remembrance Day are, in part (not completely, unfortunately), about the evils of physical warfare, and hence it is easier to do things like rescue earthbound people who died during war (military and civilian), and build thought forms of peace and do other actions towards achieving peace.

The problem is, real peace requires peace to exist on more than just the physical level - which, in itself, is a hard process in which it is important not to make mistakes like sacrificing freedom [2]. It is the difficulty in achieving non-physical peace that I have particular concerns with - especially the fact that few people even recognise the reality of violence of emotions, thought, words, and psychic energy. I do - I'm a member of three minorities, and two of these have major problems with suicides caused by the words of others ... and the third has a history of being burnt at the stake by another group, which is an example of the violence of ideas being made manifest.

These are concepts of non-physical violence that people may well be able to comprehend fairly easily. If you've been to this site much, you'll hopefully also be aware of psychic attack, which is an example of non-physical violence having two forms: direct (talked about in many books about psychic self defence), and indirect, which is rarely acknowledged by many, and may not even be known of [3] .

More than these however, it is the everyday things like hatred, active jealousy/envy (e.g., "why did my co-worker get that promotion, I'm as good as them!" - which is often not the case, incidentally), gossip (and I include telling jokes at others' expense to build social bonds, which many people do), backbiting, character assassination/lies and so on and so forth, etc, etc, etc, which build the pervasive framework of negativity that ACTIVELY AND DIRECTLY PERMITS, CAUSES AND CONTRIBUTES to physical violence such as wars [5] . This sort of energy - which is also built by economies and cultures built on aggressive forms of competition [4] - is what is directly used by uncooperative earthbounds to create control of other entities, dead and living, and to a world psychic environment where life is too often unpleasant even if war is not occuring.

However, even if these energies didn't create wars, they are completely, utterly and totally unacceptable - I've posted about this previously, in my post "The Middle Ages and Today's Psychic Sewers", and "Splashing about in sewers: the exchange of gifts".

What's the cure? Unfortunately, the only cure is for every single living person to take responsibility for themselves and actively seek to make themselves a better human being, one that is not so insecure that they cannot allow others to have something they do not, whether it is praise, that promotion, or simply putting one's ego aside enough to work out the best team for doing a particular tasks without any rancour.

Of course, knowing oneself, and knowing about psychic matters, also helps ... as does having a mature approach to matters [6].

Finally, the title of this post. Well, it is based on a saying from a parody of the TV series "Star Trek". In the TV series, the character Dr McCoy is renowned for saying "He's dead, Jim"; in the send up (the song "Star Trekkin' "), the character Spock says "Well it's life, Jim, but not as we know it". In the case of this post, it's about war, but not as most people know it - psychic war, not physical, which is just as evil.

The good news, we can do something about - each and every one of us, personally.

Love, light, hugs and blessings

Notes:
  1. See the last part of this post.
  2. One of the most commonly used examples of a "mistake" is Neville Chamberlain's "appeasement"; however, I recently read of a thesis by John F. Kennedy, "Why England Slept", where he suggested this was not totally without merit, as it bought England time to rebuild its armed forces so it could withstand the Germans - certainly it gave the Brits time to develop the Spitfire, radar and a few organisational approaches that helped them during the Battle of Britain.

I've also recently read an interview with the Dalai Lama where he stated that he was not a pacifist: he believed war was sometimes unavoidable.

Although not stated, perhaps it could be argued that non-violent action involves not being a pacifist. Mohandas K. Gandhi had some interesting thoughts on this, apparently (see here and here).
  3. Also see here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.
  4. Yes, there are forms of competition that are not aggressive.
  5. Things like the suffering of the 2 billion or so people without access to fundamentals of life like enough safe drinking water, enough, shelter, etc, etc, etc don't help - and the blame for that lies in part on those who don't even think of such people.
  6. I consider capitalism as some nations know it or prefer it (specifically, when it is without any form of social conscience) to be an immature approach to economic matters.
