Post No. 2,135 - "smart" phones

After 15 years of resistance, I've finally got a so-called "smart" personal mobile phone.

I still have major concerns about this tech - including the carelessness, incompetence, and thoughtlessness of so many users over privacy & security (incidentally, I have one of these phones for work, so I've known how to be properly careful around privacy settings - and I have been very wary of apps [obviously you can't put personal stuff on a work phone, so I have limited that one to work material] ) and their arrogant expectation that others will also have a smart phone, the coercion of business and government agencies through insisting that people use their phones in a certain way (which excludes many people from accessing government services that are supposed to be available to all), and a whole stack of other issues (including what is effectively social engineering and some very unspiritual or even anti-spiritual effects), but something I have noticed is that the quality of user interfacing and support from Apple actually does far exceed anything I've experienced through any of the work "smart" phones (which have all been android)

I also have concerns with Apple as a corporation (commercialism, etc), but I have to admit that their tech - or the small sample of it I have used for a very few weeks now - and user interfaces (particularly around security) are good.

I don't want to give plugs to commercial organisations, but having railed against so-called "smart" mobile phones for so long, I consider I should be honest that I am using one of those things now, that I still have major concerns, and that, as Apple tech seems to "just work" it is worth considering if you wish to get a so-called "smart" personal mobile phone.
