anyone distressed by anything in this post, or for any other reason considering
seeking support, resources are available in Australia here, here, and here. In other nations, you will have to do an Internet search using terms such as “mental health support - <your nation>” (which, for instance, may lead to this, this, and this, in the USA, or this, this, and this, in France [biased towards English-language - my apologies]), or perhaps try https://www.befrienders.org/.
I would like to do more psychic and spiritual commentary for these, perhaps beginning with an astrological commentary, if I can find someone who does this in a timely fashion. My problem is most sites are in the USA, which is ~¾ day behind ...
So for now, I will use the predictions from six days ago at https://cafeastrology.com/thisweekinastrology.html , which (in my words) comments on consciousness going through a crisis into the unconscious (changes of moon phase), considering recent revelations and next steps, “tie up loose ends [which the ICC has done], take inventory, and let go if necessary”, and don’t start a major project.
That latter comment should have been heeded by US President Biden, as, in international matters, current US President Biden will allow Ukraine to use long-range US-supplied missiles to attack targets in Russia, which has previously only been allowed once under limited conditions - and the UK will now supply similar missiles under a similar freedom of use. Russia has responded - as expected - by warning of a possible escalation to a (third “officially named”) world war. Given, however, Zelensky’s statement that he wants an end to the war in Ukraine by ‘diplomatic means’ in 2025, could the change of US president offset any inflammatory effects of that decision? Possibly (or possibly not), but the UK following suit means the decision will be ongoing, and the world must now assess if those risks are genuine (this and this suggest it is) ... especially given the possibility of the collapse of the Russian economy in 2025, which also raises questions about the decision (the response may be by hybrid warfare elsewhere ... but Russia’s use of an experimental [probably a nuclear-capable MRBM] ballistic missile suggests maybe not). And Ukraine has already used the missiles, which takes the matter into a more urgent category (although military experts reportedly think the change of heart is too late, although others disagree) ... and the USA will now provide (banned by an international treaty) anti-personnel mines (after rejecting a proposal to ban arming Israel) - which provides short term battlefield benefits at the expense of civilians and the environment for decades to come.
Russia has vetoed a ceasefire resolution for Sudan in the UN Security Council - which can be overridden by the UN General Assembly, so the motion needs to be moved [NB - astrological need to consider next steps] there ASAP! And likewise for the US veto of a ceasefire motion for Gaza!!
In West Asia, there has been testimonial evidence [NB - astrological need to consider recent revelations] of appalling conduct by the IDF when it attacked a Gaza hospital including the IDF throwing coins out to attract children - and using drones to attack those children, and accusations that it is trying to t_rr_r_se people (specifically, in Lebanon). Possibly related to tensions there, Canada has reportedly foiled an alleged Iranian plot to kill a former Canadian justice minister and strong critic of Iran. In Australia, an authors group will give every federal politician five books to encourage nuance in debates on West Asia. See also this assessment of global protests.
The biggest news this week, however, is the (troubled - although they recently sentenced a Malian over repression and, amongst other cases, are seeking the arrest of six Libyans for alleged crimes against humanity) ICC issuing warrants for the arrest of the sole surviving member of three members of H___s that warrants had been requested for, and for Israeli PM Netanyahu, who is also facing corruption charges dating back to 2019 in Israel, and Israel’s former defence minister, Yoav Gallant, for alleged war crimes - and note that the principle of innocent until proven guilty applies - even for these charges. This will also challenge Israel’s allies.
In other international news, a ship is being monitored (with some doubts about the need to do so) after subsea cables were severed in the Baltic, Iran and the IAEA are having a spat, thre have been revelations on the problem of Russian disinformation in the CAR, more accusations that the UAE is arming the RSF in Sudan, and the US government has called for the breaking up of a major tech conglomerate.
In Australia, there are privacy fears over a Sydney light rail services pinging data from passengers' phones and a warehouse chain using facial recognition technology without adequate consent or privacy safeguards. And interestingly, an Australian parliamentary inquiry has stopped short of backing a social media ban for under-16s. A survey has suggested Australian social cohesion is stable (which does not mean it is good - a comment made from lived experience as a member of several minority groups) DESPITE Australian attitudes on immigration and religion hardening. And on minority groups, in a series of acts that give a strong impression of blatant homophobia - and a hint of either anticipatory compliance for Tr_ mp or trying to capitalise on the expected wave of hate - in Queensland, Meta’s ‘Community Standards’ have been used to shut down LGBTQIASB+ groups on Facebook.
And on change, climate experts are demanding urgent reform of COP summits, the current version of which is plagued by 1,700 fossil fuel lobbyists (and human rights abuses [of the type described by Anne Applebaum in “Autocracy Inc.”] by the host nation). Also, it is cost-effective for rich nations to pay low and middle income nations to decarbonise, and conservative media claims that a mining company asked for a slower transition have been refuted by that company. More positively, fungi have been identified as a possible air for the planet - which is not actually entirely new, given the work by Peter Wohlleben and Dr Suzanne Simard and many others on mycelium / common mycorrhizal networks.
Additionally in Australia there has been more support (from a legal firm) for a four-day week (and from Iceland) - which is not really news: it is the only incompetent dinosaurs who doubt this; criticism of the RBA for maintaining interest rates and poisoning our living standards until disposable income is back at 2015 levels; a commentary on why so many people are fatigued and what to do about it; cash will stay an option; a cautionary argument is being made in NSW about bans in that state which may lead to more displacement, homelessness and overcrowded sharehouses; there is evidence that lowering the voting age improves the health and wellbeing of young people, and a GP training programme will include Indigenous ways of being and doing (although the dangers of using humiliation and shame in medical training have been described).
Meanwhile, in the USA, incoming president-king Tr_ mp has confirmed that he will (mis)use the US military to commit mass deportations of groups of people he doesn’t like - and an expert has commented that Tr_ mp’s proposed appointments “suggest an attempt to make [the US] government ‘dysfunctional’” (and the term ‘kakistocracy’ [‘government by the worst’] has been used). Concerningly, the unelected South African born M_ sk has threatened the sovereignty of the UK by wanting to summon their MPs to US kangaroo courts over white supremacist conspiracy fantasies. There has also been (internal) criticism of the Tr_ mp Cult Party (aka “Republicans”) for neither releasing the ethics report on a representative for alleged sexual misconduct, nor for ensuring a prosecution is undertaken. However, there has also been powerful and well directed criticism of the Democrats for being clueless/out of touch and resistant to the essential changes which MUST now be undertaken.
And on that, I would like to include the following quotes from Nobel Peace laureate Maria A Ressa’s book “How to Stand Up to a Dictator”:
“Online violence is real-world violence.”
“... the absence of rule of law in the virtual world is devastating.”
Resistance to decency has been a theme this week - including one mining company which saw an INCREASE in rapes and sexual bullying in response to DEI measures (see also this call by a survivor-victim for changes to “macho society that trivialises rape”), an extremist religious group complaining that anti-hate laws means they cannot continue their campaign of hate, a continuation of the gender pay gap, and an innocent child caught up in the hateful inflexibility of transphobic official UK attitudes. And on transphobia, the last year has seen 350 known murders of trans people ...
On the resistance to the reign of Tr_ mp 2.Ø:

- “‘Hold the line’: Nobel laureate says Americans should learn from the Philippines’ experience” https://youtu.be/RtSTBoPloqI “We’re seeing the ‘Philippinization’ of America,” says the Filipina journalist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Ressa. “Look at our experience for what’s coming up in the days ahead,” she adds, cautioning that what could happen in America has already occurred in other countries like the Philippines. There may be tough times ahead, but she advises that people should “hold the line” and “stay committed to [their] values.” See also https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Maria_Ressa&oldid=1258077628 and “How to Stand Up to a Dictator: Radio 4 Book of the Week” pub. - “How Right Wing Media Took Over America” https://youtu.be/t2VB3HyAk7Y This is an excellent consideration on this topic, including history, which includes points such as: (1) the relevant issues include media fragmentation, political polarisation, (unethical) profitability, and the combination of circumstances (detailed in the video) making a sealed feedback loop; (2) conservative obsession with liberal press started in the 1950s; (3) in the 70s Nixon started using the term “media”, rather than “press”, as a disparagement; (4) reaction to Nixon's dismissal and a book which attacked the press; (5) the combination of CNN which, when launched in 1980, broke the timeline of the press and “arguably taking reporting outside the realm of the public good and into the realm of rage bait for profitability” (the video has a very good explanation of the mechanics of this), the repeal of the USA’s 1949 Fairness Doctrine under Reagan in 1987 which allowed “the market” to decide what constituted balance (nuanced discussion of the issues for and against in the video), Rush Limbaugh who capitalised on the ending of the Fairness Doctrine to create political commentary as entertainment in 1987 (the video quotes Charles Sykes in Politico: “we now live in the world Limbaugh created, including a political culture that is driven less by facts and ideas than by slurs, rationalisations, conspiracy theories and alternative realities. Limbaugh helped to normalise cruelty, racism and misogyny among a new generation of talkers”), and, from 1996, “super-villain” Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News which “from the start it was an explicitly political operation with devoutly conservative political consultant Roger Ailes at the helm” (the discussion includes “common vocabulary” aka “inclusive code language” - a cult programming technique); (6) the influence of secondary influences in the right wing (aka “conservative”) ecosystem. The video also looks at foreign influences; (7) the conservatives (successful) aim of controlling “the full continuum of information production from universities to think tanks to media outlets” using a three-pronged strategy (right-wing media outlets, conservative public affairs programming on public television and radio, and “right-wing media critics to exert pressure on the mainstream media into covering the rights political and policy agenda”). The video also names some specific problematic people and organisations.
- “Donations for me but not for thee | Between the Lines” https://australiainstitute.org.au/post/donations-for-me-but-not-for-thee-between-the-lines/ “... a quote a top aide to former US President George W. Bush gave to journalist Ron Suskind in 2004. ... “We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality – judiciously, as you will – we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out.” Bunch dug up the quote to remind readers that trying to discern rationality and structure around the irrational and erratic was a pointless exercise that only served bad faith actors who were actively shaping new realities that only served them.”

- “Is Hexing Ethical? Witchcraft Musings” https://youtu.be/pixH3agIPXg This a good, nuanced discussion on the ethics (although I am still in the anti-hex camp - especially hexes aimed at daily life, mainly for ethical reasons [e.g., much as one of the problems with the death penalty is that is promotes a view that some lives are expendable, rather than promoting respect for all, similarly, using hexing is not promoting constructive approaches - which, even if they take longer, are more likely to be permanent than traumatic approaches - such as the problems with humiliation in medical training outlined in this post above], and also it is an attempt at negative learning - which also includes things like corporal punishment ... but I also note that those who use nonBPM units and lose them may - wrongly - feel as if they have been hexed, but they have been relieved of their ability to do harm or insulate themselves from the harm they are doing, which is not at all the same thing) - and the comments about people who assume being hurt automatically means wanting to hex, the importance of being able to accurately direct work (including to only aspects - and this is a key part of my advanced clearing work), and categories are good

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
