I came across this video today, and consider it excellent - terrifying, with its history of eugenics at Stanford, anti-communal good/governance (of the sort that computers and the Internet were built on before being privatised) views of the tech world, and and the “... concrete explanation for what's behind all of Silicon Valley following M_ sk into crypto fascist land”, including “a political ideology called cyberlibertarianism a, quote, bizarre mishmash of hippie anarchism and economic liberalism beefed up with lots of technological determinism” (also loved by Reagan) and “techno optimists who ... thought technology had a built-in ability to make people communicate horizontally” - and were wrong.

I have subscribed to their channel, and, if I had the finances, would possibly join the advertiser - for the free trial period, at least.
This also reminded me of two incidents that occurred during my working life - incidents that, in my opinion, show why professions and profession-based companies continue to struggle with improving their DEI, and will continue to do so until they follow those professional sports clubs who will sack talented people who fail to behave like decent people.
The first was a threat - professional, personal, and violent - made by a power engineer when, in response to his comment that he could not understand why people installed solar panels when there was no cost benefit, I pointed out that many people did so because they cared about climate change.
He was clearly in need of psychological help, but management was too gutless to back me up. I had a witness and considered laying a police charge or at least a professional complaint, but I was getting close to retirement and couldn’t be bothered.
This sort of professional incompetence - in fact, this exact attitude - was written about in the media shortly thereafter anyway.
The second was years before, when a young cismale tried to bully me into sacrificing family time and care to playing with mobile phones.
That was probably when I should have recognised the psychological hostility of that workplace at that time (it improved later) and left.
