I have recently watched the documentary “Christspiracy”, which is a powerful and disturbing presentation about the perversion of religion to justify carnism - reported as now also being continued by corporations (for profit?) and governments.
It should noted that jobs and the economy are also likely to be major aspects of this - both for governments, and also fear of loss of income is likely to be a key part of the motivation of any corporate employees who may be acting against this film (with some understandability, especially in the ultra-neoliberal USA, where money is essential for the life, health care, housing, etc of workers’ families). None of that justifies breaking the law, or harming or threatening harm to others, but it does emphasise the need for governments and corporations to start shifting the way they do business - apart from the animal ethics issue, there is the survival of the human species, let alone having a functioning economy, if the climate crisis continues out of control.
The documentary is available free online at https://christspiracy.com/ Some reviews can be found at: https://plantbasednews.org/culture/film/what-is-christspiracy/ , https://www.greenmatters.com/big-impact/what-is-christspiracy-about , https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/christspiracy , “Christspiracy | Official Theatrical Teaser” https://youtu.be/LoyUzSloUEg , and “Is There a Spiritual Way To Kill An Animal? I did some Internet checking on a few points from the film:
- I couldn’t find confirmation of the statement that the original meaning of the word “dominion” was more akin to our understanding of “stewardship” (I checked https://www.etymonline.com/word/dominion#etymonline_v_13927 , https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dominion , https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/dominion , and https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/dominion#English );
- although I knew that Tibetans admitted eating meat that was from animals that died as a result of an accident (e.g., falling over a cliff), and that there were butchers in Lhasa (who were reviled but obviously made a living - perhaps from non-Buddhists?), but I was stunned to discover that the Dalai Lama eats meat on a ridiculous pretext (I checked https://buddhism.stackexchange.com/questions/15268/why-cant-the-dalai-lama-be-a-vegetarian , https://vegetarian-vacations.com/is-the-dalai-lama-a-vegetarian/ , and https://www.elephantjournal.com/2011/12/dear-dalai-lama-is-it-permissible-for-buddhists-to-eat-meat/ ), which adds to concerns I have about Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, and the Dalai Lama;
- the comment about the word “holocaust” as a term for a form of animal “sacrifice” checks out - see https://www.etymonline.com/word/holocaust#etymonline_v_12103 ;
- slavery did originate with - at the same time as - agriculture - see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=History_of_slavery&oldid=1254912592#Prehistoric_and_ancient_slavery . (see also https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2023/06/patriarchy.html)
A few other comments are:
- the comment about the “training” of young males into carnism is important;
- the change of heart about killing animals for a soldier after he had personally experienced being hunted is significant;
- some of the people being interviewed clearly do not know their people - or are afflicted by wishful thinking;
- the religious excuses being used are utter rubbish - and the justification of eating animals who die accidentally is also, in my opinion, disputable (the energy is still problematic, as their passing could be treated with reverence);
- the comment about the term “human beings” being aspirational given the link of the word “human” to the word humane is very telling;
- the attempts to intimidate the filmmakers should be treated as criminal (trespass, breaking & entering, intimidation, etc), and the dissent should not be treated as t_r_rr_sm, although other laws (e.g., trespass, breaking & entering) will apply.
However, I consider the comments about the red heifer and last years appalling and well prepared in advance atrocity to be far too simplistic, and, in my opinion, wrong.
Possible flaws
Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:
- there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”;
- I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).Copyright © Kayleen White 2007-2024 NO AI
