Post No. 2,936 - Directing activism / energy work

One of the things about energy  work is that it is based on finding the problem and/or source of that problem, and then addressing that.

It is either (psychic) evidence based, or directed via entities who can use their better awareness to direct it efficiently (or it should be).

Physical world activism can be harder to direct efficiently.

With the activism I was involved with in the 90s, our focus was on anti-discrimination protection to enable people to get off the streets and survive, but (a) we knew there was more legislative change required, and (b) we knew that this would also necessitate public education.

There are sayings to the effect that leaders have to take their people on a journey, and a similar sentiment applies to community activism - campaign for legal protections to stop the harm, but then educate to raise the awareness (the 1970s consciousness raising was an excellent thing) of people - starting with all sides of politics, so that laws won’t be undone when there is a change of government.

Unfortunately that latter aim is no longer possible in many places, as right wing extremism has hijacked many nations’ conservative parties.

Social media is another invention that complicates life for today’s activists that my generation of activists didn’t have to worry about either.

But, if anything, social media shows the importance of taking the majority of a population with you - and, if done effectively enough, that can be a powerful counter to to the unbalanced extremism of some politicians.

As an example, despite the overwhelming majority that the Tr_ mp cult achieved in all levels of government in the USA, several measures to protect abortion were also passed.

These days activists need to be very aware of the fact that politicians either respond to the concerns of voters, or get voted out.

The target is not directly the politicians; it must be people who vote.

As an example, I wrote to my state and national MPs recently, acknowledging that cost-of-living was going to be vital for our national elections next year, but asking if we could start doing some education of the public immediately afterwards, so that the influence of right wing extremists is not going to have as much traction for the following election.

And this sort of education is something that governments can, do and should get involved in - examples from my nation include campaigns against smoking, lack of exercise, wearing seatbelts, not drink driving, and, in recent years, respecting women.

My local state government is particularly good at this.

And activists need to learn to get results in this area before they can get lasting political change in today’s much harder world.

Possible flaws

Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:

  • there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan  Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”
  • I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
