There is an act which many Australians claim is light-hearted, but is often an act of vindictiveness:
getting others riled up (annoyed or angry)
The direct harm of this is, in my opinion, obvious, but for those who claim not to understand that:
- it is an imposition of will over another - an attempt to control how they think/react/exist/etc, or, to put it in a single word, and an attempt to dominate others (control others is another applicable word). That is the exact OPPOSITE of freedom, and it shows a complete lack of respect;
- it is often an attempt to manipulate third parties - again, dishonestly, in an underhanded way, and with a view towards leaving vulnerable people isolated and at risk of self harm;
- it maintains existing social, economic, and political structures that are built on having an underclass - maintained most enthusiastically by those cowards who are trying to move up the chain of hate rather than change or even get rid of it.
There is another aspect to this, however, and that is the spiritual harm done to the victim - there is spiritual harm to the perpetrator, but this is a situation where the harm to the victim is of greater importance than anything is, as is the case with SA, CSA, etc.
The harm is definitely similar to the spiritual harm discussed in the film “Spotlight” - and the solution is NOT to change the victim, it is the fix the flaws of the perpetrators and the system.
