Post No. 611 - Reading (including why I disapprove of animal sacrifice)

G'day, hello, howdy, hi, zdravstvujtye (some of my work colleagues are Russian, including an absolutely invaluable administrator who has recently taken maternity leave - may she and young one and family be blest), guten tag (where I have connection owing to a recent past life), sveiki, czesc (I have friends, not just colleagues, at work who are Polish), bonjour (colleagues at a former workplace were French, and we practised and tried to extend my woeful and limited range of this language), selamat pagi (one of the best junior engineers I ever worked with was Malaysian, and she taught me a few words), annyeonghaseyo, pryvit, bitaem, como vai (a friend of mine a few years ago, although not Brazilian, had Portuguese ancestry), ¡Hola (a former work colleague and friend, a VERY talented artist - with a Mexican sensibility to her artwork, particularly around the Day of the Dead - used to teach me Mexican Spanish), Selamat pagi, ni hao (ah, my work trips to Asia, and the many wonderful, wonderful people I have met there - and some excellent work colleagues and friends here, as well), bongiorno (my current home city of Melbourne has lots of Greeks and Italians, who have made our culture far richer - and made us coffee snobs :) ), hoschakal, hejsan, ciao, jo napolt kivanu, chào bà, chào ông, yiassou (from the city which has, I understand, the largest collection of Greek people outside of Greece), ceau, salam wa aleikum, sawas dee ka, dia duit, hoi, hei, namaste, marhaba, dobry den.

  • there have been some articles on animal sacrifice lately, which have focused on comparing that to meat bought at a butcher or supermarket, and condemning a perception of cruelty in commercial meat farming. I think that is arguable: yes, factory farming and things like crating (banned in Australia and Europe) to produce veal is cruel, but much of animal husbandry is aimed at keeping animals healthy and content. I actually consider most animal sacrifices cruel, in that they do not stun the animal first, nor do they necessarily avoid panicking the animal as many modern abattoirs that have been redesigned by Temple Grandin, or based on her understanding, do.
I also consider the comments that animals have to have their spinal cord intact as they die so that “certain hormones can be released” * to be utter rubbish. (Out of interest, do those advocating that think the same of humans? If so, are they against euthanasia, which aims to make death painless?) I’m also aware of comments that cutting the arteries and windpipe is quick: again, utter rubbish. An ex of mine wanted to raise a pig at home for slaughter. When it’s throat was cut, it thrashed around for about 30 seconds. Don’t tell me that that was painless or quick – certainly not compared to being stunned first!
And, also, I am very tuned in to plant life, and I am aware that all plant matter was once living – without getting into the issue of killing (probably non-sentient) pathogens and sentient vermin.
Finally, my view of sacrifice is that, to be meaningful, it must be personal. Killing an animal that was always intended to be killed is not giving up something. “Sacrificing” time and energy to study and practice is far more valid - in fact, a genuine Christian who gives up something significant for Lent is showing a better understanding of sacrifice than those who think killing an animal raised to be killed is sacrifice. In fact, the only unique aspect around that is the energy of the humans - and, since the killing is botched, in my view, the terror and pain of the animal. The energy of the humans can be raised without the killing, so the only essential difference is ... what? The terror of the animal? Is that somehow special because it is being done with more deliberation than at an abattoir? What does that attract? Seriously, think about what sort of entity that would attract? There ARE literally blood thirsty Deities (for instance, The Morrigan, the Great Queen), but they can be slaked by a human doing a small blood offering, as Morpheus Ravenna wrote about in this post.
On a less wholesome note, there are also entities - most definitely NOT deities - who prey upon suffering, traumatic death and the "energy of transition" (death). Some of these are ... not so good (some are, being a little like scavengers - cleaning up stray energies, in a sense). Ever thought of what happens when you feed them?
Do you know enough to make sure the energy goes where you want it to? (Many people who do this with genuine intent do know enough on that aspect, by the way - it is the dabbler who is likely to get this aspect wrong.)
There are times when giving up a life is valid – for instance, someone acting to save many others, but, in my view, many times animal sacrifice simply reinforces a view that life is not sacred – just as capital punishment does. (Incidentally, how does an animal consent to being sacrificed - or killed for food, for that matter? And a sentient plant such as a tree? There are a lot of issues here that people are not going anywhere near!)
In my view, animal sacrifice, along with human sacrifice, are elements that Paganism should move on from, just as neochristianity should move on from its problems (such as discrimination against women and LGBTIQ people), and society should provide fair and equitable education for all, etc, etc, etc. Animal sacrifice can and, if it is undertaken, should be improved to include stunning first, which then reduces the matter of objections to:
         (a) a debate about diet, and
         (b) a debate about what this does spiritually.
My views on meat as food are coloured by my sensitivity towards plants, an awareness of the possibility of killing sentient vermin, knowledge of the needs of some people (for instance, some women with heavy periods who are unable to take iron tablets).
My views on what this does spiritually are influenced by my views on respecting, and demonstrating respect for, the sanctity of life, and my related opposition to killing humans, whether by allowing poverty, allowing war, or by human sacrifice. In making those statement, I am FULLY aware of what sacrifices people may have to make as people, in the course of their lives, and that there may be circumstances where it falls to one or a few to sacrifice their lives or wellbeing for the sake of a larger number. I object to trivialising those sacrifices by pretending that similar circumstances can be created, albeit to a lesser degree, by a ritual based on taking the life of an animal, just as much as I object to those who display arrogance or ignorance or ingratitude about what has been done in the name of getting food to their table - both meat and plant. If animals have been raised intentionally for food, loved and cared for, and are killed humanly, then there is a good argument for demonstrating respect and awareness for the animal by a ritual - PROVIDED that ritual does not upset the animal, or create a sense of fear.
You should also do the same when harvesting plants.

 * From the Wild Hunt post that I link to: "A single cut is made at the neck, severing all vitals instantly, without compromising the central-nervous-system (the spine and neck bones). By leaving the CNS intact, the animal’s natural and biologically programmed response kicks in, which settles the animal into a state of euphoria and death, rather than agitation or panic. (Severing the CNS prevents necessary full-body signals, including hormonal release signals, from being delivered.)" On the basis of my experience, I consider that to be as credible as the rubbish that crustaceans don't feel pain when dropped into boiling water, and the screaming noise is due to some lame explanation that wasn't ever credible. If one really wishes to create feelings of euphoria, use a nitrogen mask.

PS - the debate on animal sacrifice has had a really good, informative, calm, continuation here.

The “purpose” of spiritual evolution is not the attainment of “spiritual perfection” - not in the sense of not having to evolve further, at any rate, since there is no such thing. We need to evolve in order to grow - but we can take rest breaks (hopefully well earned :) ) along the way. No, the “purpose” of evolution is, rather, to perfect our ability to learn, and thus grow.

Post No. 390 - Saturday

Why is that so many people use the word "spiritual", when they really mean "psychic"? As an example, what I call "channelled energy healing" is often misnamed "spiritual healing". You don't need to be "spiritual" in any of the sense of the word to be able to do it, but you do need to be able to channel energy - which I consider much akin to say ... running a marathon. It is true that many people who turn to things like channelled energy healing are probably more inclined to be interested in spiritual matters, but it is NOT a prerequisite for being able to do this.

I think the problem is people trying to big-note themselves.

Think of a couple of a kids in a sandpit:
"My sand castle's bigger than yours."
"No, mine is bigger than yours!"

Now think of, ah, immature adults:
"Mine's bigger than yours."
"No, mine's bigger than yours!"
(That may not be literal - it may be a discussion of ... cars, for instance ...)

Now lets turn to ... a healing group:
"I use spiritual healing."
"I use more spiritual healing."

Get what I think of this? (I'm grumpier than usual, by the way, as we've had cut backs at work, and I cannot support my family on what I've been left with, so may have to try and find another job - in a hurry.)

In many cases, I will simply use the word psychic, or the expression "non-physical", and terms like "constructive/positive" or "destructive/negative".

Basic/Underlying Concepts for this Topic:
  • ego can be a problem, in this case, because it leads to competitiveness, rather than being objective
  • there are a lot of unacknowledged personal values and associations that give words loaded meanings that they shouldn't have
Now, moving on. I posted recently about a street near my home that has had a few unusual accidents in recent years. I'm not in a position to state categorically that the "rate of unusual accidents" in this area is significantly higher than anywhere else (and I wouldn't trust any statistician who tried to determine that as (1) I don't think they would have a clue what is psychically significant, and (2) the rate I am wanting is accidents per thousand residents, NOT per trip/distance-travelled/passenger-km). Nevertheless, the impression I have (and the use of the word "impression" does include discussing the matter with my BPF Guides), is that something is wrong.

I am not saying something is wrong because accidents have happened - accidents happen in most places at varying frequences related to traffic, road design, conditions, driver tiredness/inattention/distraction, etc. The issue is that the accidents have been so unusual (and, again, unusual accidents happen elsewhere, but not in clusters like this).

There is another area that I have concerns about because of the number of suicides I am aware of. That's an even more difficult matter to assess, as suicides are actually fairly common - more so than many people realise, as the media has until recently agreed to a moratorium on reporting suicides (to prevent copy cat suicides). Nevertheless, I've looked at the energy in that area, and it isn't very pleasant.

Of course, if the spirit of one suicide doesn't pass over (and you should know from my recent post that many actually do pass over quite easily), it is quite possible that they will influence the susceptible (i.e., those with open auras - not necessarily depressed people) into repeating the same suicide. That can lead to a bit of a cluster.

That isn't the case in this area. Where I looked, the energy was wrong.

So. What to do about it.

Well, in this case, nothing.

The entities - not all human - responsible for what is happening in these two areas are strong: it would take me some time (weeks to months) to weaken them enough to be able to contain and then clear both them and their influence (and I would need a couple of tools I currently don't have access to - one because it is still being made by me - in order to do the work). While that is being done, they could and WOULD attack me through those near and dear to me.

I will not allow that to happen.

I am capable of looking after myself, but I have been doing heavy psychic work wince the early 80s, and thus have a lot of experience and well-developed skills. Those in my household, including those present intermitently, do not, and would be vulnerable to the influence of those seeking vengeance against me. I will reconsider this when I finish making my new shield bracelets, as that might be enough protection for those near to me to allow me to then go about taking on these ... vampiric entities.

Basic/Underlying Concepts for this Topic:
  • it is possible for discarnate entities to influence things in the physical (just as it is also possible for incarnate entities to exercise such influence through things like prayer);
  • influences can be positive ("spiritually constructive") and negative ("spiritually destructive");
  • negative entities tend to feed off negative energies;
  • there is an attribute called "strength", and it does exist in the concpt of both psychic and spiritual matters;
  • people can be "got at" through what is called indirect psychic attack, against loved ones or employers for instance (which is, I think, one of the reasons that many people doing advanced spiritual/psychic work are either single, or seem to have been single: not becvause there is anthing wrong with being in relationship(s), but for simple pragmatism, including protection of loved ones).

Post No. 142 - Grief

I've just come back from a funeral for a young friend of the family, a kid who was not perfect, but touched many people with love. His death was accidental; the grief and other effects (I've seen some maturing in young people as a result of this loss, for instance, and there have been some other benefits out of the pain) were a natural consequence of who he was.

That's not what I want to write about here, though. I want to cover two points:
1. the blockage that grief can cause; and
2. the psychic effects of the grief at the funeral.

That first point. Well, the energy that is grief is capable of blocking (psychic) contact with loved ones who have passed over. This energy can become, for the person who is grieving, a black cloud within which they wrap themselves - literally: that is the psychic impression seen under some circumstances. [1] The person concerned may then wail about not having contact from the loved one, not realising that it is the still living person themselves who is blocking the contact - and, in the process, ironically possibly causing some pain to the person who died. [2]

I'm currently writing a post on the topic of "Self Indulgence", from the shamanistic perspective written about by Castenada, and I'm going to steal the thunder from that post by stating here that, in general, I consider the philosophy expressed in the saying "feel the fear and do it anyway" applies to most emotions: acknowledge the emotion, feel it, and get on with (constructive) life anyway ... It is a philosophy which, in my opinion, applies to grief: acknowledge the various stages of grieving [3], work with them constructively (i.e., grow), adjust and then continue living.

OK, the second point. Well, basically, quite a few earthbound spirits who were themselves earthbound because of their grief (not always over the death of a loved one: losing relationships or opportunities can also lead to this) were drawn in to the outpouring of grief at the funeral. So, while I was sitting there, as well as dealing with my own reactions and supporting those around me, I also was performing spirit rescues [4] - quite a few, in fact [5], of people who had become trapped by their grief (including some who had died of it).

That's OK, but there were also a few entities there who could probably be technically classified as vampires: they were enjoying the grief - feeding on it, in a sense. The influence of these entities (all human, by the way) was to exacerbate and prolong the grief that incarnate ("living") people felt. Those entities were isolated from the incarnates they were feeding off, and will be given rather intensive clearing of energy (this is also used to free those who these entities had been controlling - including other earthbound entities [6]) and healing, and will be given (by the Guides) a choice of passing over or being left in a place where they cannot feed on others.

Sounds bit tough, doesn't it? Well, they've been actively harming other people for long enough, and now they are going to be stopped from doing that any more. They're free to pass over any time they want, but they will not be allowed to harm others.

This action is a last resort, approved by the entity's own Higher Self.

These sorts of entities are the sort of reasons usually quoted when talking of the need for protection, grounding, clearing & releasing, etc: the truth is, they're rare - most times people need protection it is simply because of incompatible energy.

There is an interesting article on (the history of) possession here: it might be worth a read before judging this last action too much one way or another.

And now, I will resume my own grieving process - not just for this death, but for other sad news I have had recently [7]. May the Goddess bless, nurture, heal and protect you and all who are near and dear to you.

Love, light, hugs and blessings

Gnwmythr

Notes:
  1. Not always, though: some grief is the normal, painful but healthy adjustment to loss, and it doesn't necessarily form a blanket around the grieving person. It is useful to refer to the work of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross on this topic.
  2. Usually the grief is like a constant drag on the person who has passed over, interfering with them settling in to the afterlife. This, incidentally, is part of the reason some indigenous people do not mention the name of people who have passed over.
  3. It can be useful to be familiar with the work on stages of grieving: I know this through the work of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross on grieving (the "Kubler-Ross model, or "the five stages of grieving"), but there have no doubt been others since, and may well have been others before her. She also contributed to the hospice care movement, including care for people with AIDS (which may have led to an arson attack on her home).
  4. You can find some of my previous posts on this topic here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.
  5. I have a habit of asking my Guides how many entities have been rescued, as often, for every one entity rescued by "work" (talking with them, healing them, clearing energy, opening portals, etc), there will be a few others around who will see what is going on, who also pass over. In this case, my Guides (who have a sense of humour) responded to my questions "how many" with "42". "Yeah, right - the meaning of life" (an allusion to "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy") "I get it, doing rescue is my life purpose ... How many?" The answer was a smaller number, but still quite surprising enough.
  6. Apparently this was dealt with in the episodes of "Ghost Whisperer" featuring the character "Romano", in Season Two. I regret that I have missed seeing all the episodes of this series ... I'll have to grit my teeth over the technical technique problems, and enjoy the entertainment (and the fact that, effectively, spirit rescue is on a mainstream TV series - two, if you add in the British "Afterlife").
  7. I've written previously about "living in chakras" (see here [8]), which is basically a concept based on "how much do you focus on the different levels of life/existence". I'm aware that I'm being affected by a negative frame of mind, caused by exhaustion as much as anything else, but it seems to me that people in this world are overly living in the Solar Plexus chakra, which is the third to most people, fourth to me, as there is too much focus on emotions, and not enough on other things like caring for the planet, spiritual life and honour. I think that is a key feature of this level of reality, but, in the interests of evolution, there is a need for balance with other aspects of life as well.
  8. And see here, here, here, here and here

This post's photo is yet to be posted.

Post No. 101 - A New Visualisation: Astral Trees as a clearing/healing tool

I developed the following technique while working on clearing a nest of vampires. No, not people who turn physically into dust at the touch of sunlight (nor even people who have porphyria) - not even people who are eveil or unpleasant, and some of them even have an interest in spiritual matters. No, this is a group of people who have wound up in a situation with lots of complicated factors (serious illnesses, including cancer [one terminal], lack of money, addiction [to smoking], etc) that they are being overwhelmed by.

When you're drowning, you grasp at almost anything - lifejackets, timber, or even other people. When I was a kid being taught in the local life saving club, one of the things we were taught to do is dive down when approaching a struggling swimmer and some up behind them so they don't latch on to you and get both of you into trouble. That was in the 60s: I rather suspect things may have changed since then (because of personal floation boards, etc), but the principle is a useful illustration of what I am talking about.

These people are not feeling good: they are, as is the human tendency to want to do, wanting to feel good. If anyone offers help, they will latch on and take more than the other can give. They will be as pleasant as they can be, in their own way, and as grateful as they can be (in their own way), but they will be totally unaware of the problems they are causing others - much as a drowning swimmer will not be aware that he or she is drowning the would be rescuer.

The end result, though, is that they fit into the strict definition of energy/emotional vampire - and they have, unfortunately, picked up some astral entities who are vampires (not ones that honour the Black Veil, a Code of Ethics associated with part of the vampire culture - see "Magickal Self Defense", by Kerr Cuhulain, pub. Llewellyn, ISBN 978-0-7387-1219-2, p. 111*), and who are both feeding off the pain, fear and other negative energies, and doing all that they can to

So ... what does one do?

Well, one does NOT abandon them: one uses smarter healing and clearing techniques and, while maintaining a sympathetic relationship, keeps a protective distance.

This is a lesson all would be healers and helpers need to learn: don't be too involved, look after yourself - if you don't, you won't be able to help anyone. It is particularly important to be aware of this if, as is too often the case, you are getting involved with helping others because of your own needs (for self esteem, to feel valued/needed/wanted, etc). Those may not be ideal motivations, but - unlike those who take cheap shots at such people - I think it is worth having more people helping others than less, provided the helpers are not causing harm, and such people do NOT necessarily automatically cause harm (they do, however, in some cases - usually where they place their own expectations of what they, the "helper", would want in that situation, rather than being objective and checking what the person being helped actually wants).

In terms of this blog post, a technique I have developed for this situation is to create a thought form of a tree. In this particular case, it is a silver coloured tree - actually, a series of trees, one for the house, and one for each of the key players, including the astral vampires who have attached themselves to these people. I perceive trees as light pumps, so effectively I have created light & love pumps for these people and the hourse they live in.

The trees were nearly overwhelmed in the first few hours, until I added vortexes, both up and down, to remove the negative energy being flushed out by these creations.

As is the case with any new technique, I've tried it out on myself first, and found that it is particularly good at clearing chakras, but not so good at, when I tried it, helping with asthma attacks (although that may have been because I was trying to deal with the lungs, rather than the other nonphysical energies which are associated with the asthma.

It may work for other people's asthma; it may work in this case I'm using for and not others. If yopu feel so inclined, think about it, meditate on it, communicate with your guides, and maybe try it.

I'm just hoping it will make helping these people less of a painful, disruptive and unpleasantly wearing experience. I have other, earlier, and more important commitments in life to honour.

Post No. 094 - Chakras: a less happy view

I recently got a link to a site about chakras from someone who is both friend and teacher/mentor. The link was quite interesting as it takes a negative view on the existence of chakras, proposing that they were placed in humans for the purpose of allowing us to be drained of energy. Now, that is not quite my viewpoint on the matter, but I consider it worth you, Dear Reader, having a look and making up your own mind.

Now, before you rule it out, out of hand, consider these points:
- I have come across other articles questioning the existence of chakras;
- the Ning site "Spirit Rescuers" has some interesting information about various species of aliens, some of whom are reported to be seeking to influence human evolution for their own gain (whilst others are reported to be seeking to do the same to altruistically help us).

My reply to my friend was (and this is correspondence between two people who are well aware of, and capable of dealing with, what I have loosely termed "psychic attack" on this blog:

That site is interesting. I've known for a while that the set of chakras is not fixed - Shirley Maclaine has written about the way that the human race is developing a chakra between the solar plexus and heart chakra, and there are other energy centres/chakras/constructs I've been working on developing for quite a while as well.I think the chakras are changing and developing in response to evolution.

I rarely ever perceive the chakras as vortices of the type that are described by Barbara Ann Brennan - although that is a useful perception for doing chakra balancing. I more usually perceive them in the way that was described as - going from memory - the "solar centre".

Nevertheless, I think it is a very useful reminder that structures/constructs/centres/significant parts of our aura can be attacked. I find it very useful to think about such things from the point of view of military strategy: what is vulnerable from external / internal [e.g. via dimensional shifts] / combined forms of attack, how can these be made safe, how can one use "fortifications" withbout getting stuck in a immobile "fortification" mentality, how can one turn an opponents strength into a weakness, how can an opponent turns my strengths into a weakness, how can I turn my weaknesses into strengths, how could an opponent turn their weaknesses into strengths (so I try to stay one step ahead of tactical changes), etc.

So, although I don't think chakras were deliberately placed to allow energy to be drained, it could well be that the potential of them to be used to drain energy has developed in response to that evolutionary change.

So, having got all that out of the way, here is the link:

See what you think. Oh, BTW, with regards to vampires, have a look at Michelle Belanger's website.
