Something I learned in the 1980s is what I term “channelled energy healing” - see https://gnwmythrsglossary.blogspot.com/2018/04/channelled-energy-healing.html and https://gnwmythr.blogspot.com/2021/02/post-no-1782-draft-healing-course.html (To describe such healing as spiritual is seriously misleading, as many of those who use the technique are anything but spiritual; it can, on the other hand, reasonably be described as a form of “laying on hands”.)
It is a way of helping people to heal themselves - it is NOT a substitute for conventional Western medicine, and I refuse to use it on anyone who I know or suspect is avoiding conventional Western medicine.
You also must NOT claim or infer that you can heal anything: you cannot - the energy you channel (it should NOT be your energy) is something the recipient may choose to use - or not - to assist with their own healing.
I understand that there was, at one stage, a formal arrangement between spiritualists and conventional Western medicine in the UK where channelled healing could be incorporated into treatment under the supervision of conventional Western medicine practitioners, and that is the sort of engagement I support.
There is also a form of “laying on hands” termed Reiki, which many people know of: see here and here for more (I have not provided the Wikipedia link, as it is out of date and evinces the rabidly unscientific hostility of a small group of editors on that platform).
I haven’t experienced much of that until recently (I am now though, as a pleasant side effect of my former partner currently re-studying Reiki), but I am now of the view that Reiki is likely to be generally stronger than the channelled energy healing I was taught.
I suspect that could be as a result of the symbols that are visualised at the start of Reiki, which is possibly as a result of the inherent power of those symbols, is definitely as a result of the group egregore that decades of use of those symbols has created, and most likely is the result of both effects.
As with all treatments - including conventional Western medicine (we're in the process of changing our GP back to one we know is able to help) - how good the treatment is depends to a significant extent on the practitioner (some conventional Western medicine GPs are so fat-phobic that they deny treatment for matters not related to weight [e.g., hearing problems!!!] until arbitrary weight losses have been achieved). That also applies to Reiki, so I am NOT saying blindly trust all Reiki practitioners (quality of training can be variable - and experience is another aspect), but the method has potential and is worth considering ... but NOT a substitute for conventional Western medicine.
Possible flaws
Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:
- there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”;
- I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself;

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).#PsychicABetterWorld and may all that I do be of value and actively BPM used for and by the nonphysical BPM because #KindnessIsThePoint
