Post No. 3,197 - Reflections on the past week, and some interesting reading/viewing [Content Warning - oppression/bigotry/hate/violence/SA/CSA/abuse/war. Reader discretion is advised]

 Matters for reflection :

 Some llinks that might be of interest or value:

  • Bhutan is building a development project that includes consideration of Gross National Happiness;
  • a speculation about whether UAPs are biological - or partly so;
  • also from YouTube:

For the news sections

Note: CONTENT WARNING - some of this content is about upsetting, disturbing or triggering events & attitudes. Seek competent help - including professional - if you need it. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised that linked articles may contains names and/or images of deceased people. READER CAUTION IS RECOMMENDED! For anyone distressed by anything in this post, or for any other reason considering seeking support, resources are available in Australia here, here, and here. In other nations, you will have to do an Internet search using terms such as mental health support - <your nation>(which, for instance, may lead to this, this, and this, in the USA, or this, this, and this, in France [biased towards English-language - my apologies]), or perhaps try https://www.befrienders.org/

Remember:   #PsychicABetterWorld   and   nonphysical health, strength and wellbeing

The purposes of this post’s news section include:

(1) to provide information, including news, which may be of interest, value, or use to Readers;

(2) to identify both BPM and nonBPM opportunities to do the work of this blog (particularly clearing nonBPM nonphysical  units,   BPM  healing,   and   BPM  strengthening of BPM units - the news items helps draw in/helps me find those people and other units in need of any of the help I can provide);   and

(3) to help engage and frame my emotional, mental, and other nonphysical (psychic, spiritual, Higher Self, BPM  Guides, etc) aspects both for doing my weekly PWR and for doing the work that flows from the PWR - which may also occur for some others.

Some of the news information will likely be distressing - hence the content warning, to allow people to choose times they have high energy and/or are in a good state to view these, or to ensure they have access to support resources if they may be triggered, or to choose to either temporarily or permanently skip viewing this post or the News sections, as is best for their health and wellbeing.

Within the news section, I generally try to identify what is considered “good” news in green, possibly also with green background, but owing to time, energy, and health limitations, may not always be able to do so. Similarly, I generally try to show editorial comments by me in this shade of blue (quotes are in this shade of blue) - and for the times I miss doing so, you should keep your thinking cap on.

 News :

Noting the excellent daily aggregation of global news links at   https://everythingbriefing.substack.com/

On the existential climate crisis and nuclear threats this week:

The ICJ has ruled that nations MUST reduce emissions or pay reparations to nations affected by the climate crisis - at least one Australian state court is on the right side of history;      there has been a surge in (subsidised) household battery installations in Australia;

Recent floods have shown the need for wider, faster flood warnings;      the still continuing algal bloom  catastrophe in South Australia will be investigated;      Brazil’s President has been urged to veto recently adopted legislation that would weaken environmental protections;      the current US regime’s anti-environmental responsibility campaigns have led to the cancellation of two green hydrogen projects;

In the global war against f_sc_sm (and “producerism”) (note the advice/examples/guidance on resistance here, here, here, here, here, here, here, this [on the efficacy of nonviolent protest], this book, this book, this, and thesethis week:

The appeasement problem also exists in the human rights arena of life:   “As Labour targets trans rights, Scotland can do better”   https://www.thenational.scot/politics/25326400.labour-targets-trans-rights-scotland-can-better/   “... But here’s the catch: when it comes to vilifying and ostracising marginalised people, there is no sweet spot that unscrupulous politicians can hit to satisfy the agitators. A case in point: so-called “gender critical” campaigners are still angry about the Labour education guidance because it doesn’t go far enough.   ...    You can’t control the fires of hate by adding just enough fuel, or by ignoring it – you can only fight it head-on by Caitlin Logan, Columnist, The National Scot;       a comment that the moral cowards will be remembered;      despite warnings from human rights advocates, ASIO’s little used 9/11-era questioning powers will be expanded to include sabotage, promotion of communal violence and serious threats to Australia’s border security, and will lose Parliamentary oversight and thereby become permanent;      after nearly eight months, the media-funded (and mocked by far right media) Australian Press Council has found still active far right wing tabloid paper’s “headline ... breached accuracy rules;

Items of concern/note (and associated resistance/actions) in/regarding the USA, noting this on “a slight change of activist focus”, include:

The USA’s AIC’s DOJ has explained why the cover-up by AIC is wrong;      the controversy over documentation of a convicted and now dead sex trafficker and child sexual abuser has continued, and the convicted partner of the CSA trafficker will be interviewed by the DOJ;      the US House of Representatives will subpoena the DOJ for the files;

the AIC has said he is surprised an official who the AIC himself appointed was appointed - and said official publicly corrected the AIC when the AIC had wrong data;      reports of troops disaffected at being misused for political purposes are resigning in significant numbers;      the USA is continuing its reactionary leap back into the 1600s by leaving UNESCO;      the US regime has been ordered to comply with transparency laws;      another resignation has raised questions about whether NASA will survive;      a noted US historian warns that current political considerations are way beyond republican vs democrat: it is about the survival of democracy;      a warning the AIC’s tariff wars against US residents and the rest of the world could cause harm for generations;      I am seeing mention on several social media platforms from credible  sources (e.g., the ACLU) that the AIC has signed an executive order directing states to criminalise and institutionalise people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental health disabilities - which is staggering, not only for being extremist reactionary, but also because it could potentially apply to around 20% of the US population - and where is the mainstream media on this??!!!;      an incident (one of several, actually) shows the aggressive cruelty, and celebration of same, of ICE employees to levels that can only be described, IMO, as psychopathic - and in need of being subjected to justice, much as done  after the events of World War Two - or, at the very least, some form of truth  and reconciliation process;      a brief comment on how US conservatives were convinced, over decades, to destroy themselves;

§   On migration, border control, rendition, deportations, and associated legal matters,     more on the APPALLING human rights abuses in the Alligator A_______z concentration camp - see also this, this, and this;      an appeals court has blocked the AIC’s attempt to end birthright citizenship as unconstitutional;

Items of concern/note (and associated resistance/actions) in/regarding Ukraine/Russia (et al) include:

in what is seen as a democracy threatening and backwards move that has led to  protests, Ukrainian lawmakers - in a tainted vote - have removed the independence of two anti-corruption agencies ... with Ukraine’s President subsequently submitting a bill to restore the independence (if the bill is adopted by the Ukrainian Parliament);      an extremist AIC cult member of the US congress is spreading lies about the Ukrainian anti-corruption protests;      the apparent killing of a drafted man by an enlistment officer is being investigated;

“Ukrainian artist’s ‘Sculpture’ series normalises injured bodies of Ukraine’s soldiers”;

the EU has agreed “on ‘one of its strongest’ Russia sanctions packages after Slovakia lifts veto;      an analysis of the USA’s AIC’s latest announcement shows it boils down to the AIC “now allowing Ukraine to purchase weapons in the US”;      a US general has threatened consequences for Russia if its aggression spreads beyond Ukraine;

Russia is recruiting children into drone programmes;      more  oppression  inside  Russia;      North Korea*s armed forces are being battle hardened in the Russia-Ukraine war;      China is breaking sanctions to supply Russia with drone engines;

On other international affairs/political news matters this week:

Items of concern/note (and associated resistance/actions) in/regarding West Asia include:

The United Nations is investigating the US and Canada for enabling atrocities in Gaza - and the EU has been accused of ‘cruel and unlawful betrayal’ of Palestinians over failure to confront Israel”;      condemnation of Israel’s “femi-genocide” in Gaza;      Gazans are dying every day of mass  starvation - and being killed by the IDF, especially near “aid” facilities - and journalists trapped by Israel’s blockade are also at risk of starvation, and aid staff have collapsed from hunger;      lack of data because of Israel’s blocks is preventing a formal declaration of famine;      joint criticism of Israel*s actions in Gaza by over 20 nations has been followed up with further remarks by Australia*s Prime Minister (and a call for stronger actions) and attempted deflection by Israel;      France will recognise Palestine as a nation-state;      an island’s action against Israel’s actions in Gaza;

a criticism of the UK’s actions against protestors - and see also this criticism of a superinjunction, but further action has been threatened against Israel over the mass starvation in Gaza;      more retaliation under the current US regime against pro-Palestinian protests;      a genocide scholar may leave a US university over its new antisemitism definition, which is part of that university's obedience to the current fascist us regime;

a ceasefire has taken effect in a city after violence against Druze minority killed over 1,000 and displaced over 100,000 people;      Iran is using the recent attacks by Israel as justification to accelerate returns of Afghan refugees to likely harm in Afghanistan;

An outline of the agreement between the DRC and rebels to end the conflict in eastern DRC - where violence is continuing;      violence between Thailand and Cambodia in their over a century old  border dispute is increasing, with civilian deaths and over 100,000 displaced people;      China is beating stingy Australia in the quest for influence in the Asia-Pacific;       the USA’s AIC’s choice for Ambassador to Argentina has thrown convention, decency, and manners out and meddled in internal Argentine matters;      Australia has caved in to the US beef bullies;      Australia and the UK have signed a fifty year defence treaty;      MPs jailed in eSwatini have been named prisoners of conscience;

On human rights matters:

The appeasement problem also exists in the human rights arena of life:   “As Labour targets trans rights, Scotland can do better”   https://www.thenational.scot/politics/25326400.labour-targets-trans-rights-scotland-can-better/   “... But here’s the catch: when it comes to vilifying and ostracising marginalised people, there is no sweet spot that unscrupulous politicians can hit to satisfy the agitators. A case in point: so-called “gender critical” campaigners are still angry about the Labour education guidance because it doesn’t go far enough.   ...    You can’t control the fires of hate by adding just enough fuel, or by ignoring it – you can only fight it head-on.       concerns that Peru’s amnesty bill violates international law;      a US police officer who fired his weapon in an event that led to the death of woman has been jailed, and a police officer in another may be charged over the death of detained man that has been ruled a homicide by the coroner;      Venezuela has accused El Salvador of torturing Venezuelans renditioned by the USA;      more professional incompetence and predilection for violence by police has led to the violent death of a man who was supposed to be receiving a welfare check;      the ICC has convicted two leaders of a predominantly Christian rebel group in the Central African Republic of multiple counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity ..., sentencing each to more than a decade in prison”;      in Nigeria, a “Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the Inspector-General of Police and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to pay N10 million in damages to some #EndSARS protesters for the violation of their fundamental rights”;

“Fact-checking the UN’s harmful anti-trans claims: what the evidence really says”   https://qnews.com.au/fact-checking-the-uns-harmful-anti-trans-claims-what-the-evidence-really-says/   Time to let the UN go ...   - see also this;      a Hong Kong court has ruled that public toilets must cater for trans people;      the human cost of transphobic hate in the UK;

a conference has been held for Indigenous women on coercive control in domestic situations;      “around 45 per cent of women and girls seeking homelessness help have experienced domestic and family violence. For some, a lack of housing options may lead them to return to living with their perpetrator”;      more on white supremacist attitudes in NSW hospitals;

ageism is starting at earlier ages in employment - see also this call for employers to change their attitudes;

On societal and governance matters:

Under an appallingly inept, IMO, state deal from the 1980s, federal and state taxpayers will have to pay back nearly half the $1 billion in royalties paid by an overseas (US) fossils company, in order to help cover remediation costs for cleaning up the fossil company’s oil wells - and the state government will have to pay around $129 million to “help repair an offshore nature reserve where about 900 wells have been drilled over the past six decades”;      Homelessness could be exacerbated by the tower replacement scheme in my home state;       a call to improve Australia’s civic education before lowering the voting age to 16 (this is, IMO, hypocritical given the lack of civics in older populations);      “the biggest voices need to admit Australia is a low-taxing nation before joining the economic reform conversation”;      a warning of the risk of AI voice fraud in banking;      the case for working fewer hours;

From a spiritual perspective:   continue to be as ethical and as observant as you can, including nonviolently holding wrongdoers to account

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
