In 2016, the main focus of activism, including the work of this blog, in the USA was containment of the harm the USA’s current autocrat-in-chief (AIC) was doing.
Subsequently, the nonBPM christo-fascist / christian nationalist / christian dominionists became better organised, and developed Project 2_ 25 (I don’t name evil) and associated spin off projects, which has been used by the AIC to devastating - and self-destructive - effect.
The current divisions in M_ G_ over the (alleged?) documentation of a child abuser are symptomatic of the inherent divisions that afflict all movements based on nonBPM attitudes/ideas, and the damage and continuing physical & mental decline of the AIC are likely to mean he is less of a long term concern (although still damaging in the short term).
And on that, as a comment on social media put it recently (and I apologise but I cannot find it), the AIC’s backers now have the first round of changes, the systems and the successor in place, and are far less reliant on the AIC.
This also shows a truth that applies to many oligarchic authoritarian states: the head relies on backers - and even in situations where there is genuinely one despot at the top who got there without oligarchic backers, they will have created a support structure (secret police, informers, social control enacted by everyday people, etc) to enable them to stay in place.
It is therefore rare that removing just one person will effect the collapse of a nonBPM regime - and many that seemed to be so were actually perceived that way because of publicity focusing on one person, rather than giving a nuanced view. One of the characteristics of the July plot in World War (part) Two is that addressed the organisational aspects that kept H_t l_r in power - which is also why thousands were executed when the plot failed.
In terms of work being done now against fascism, and specifically that being done in the USA (never forget that that problem exists elsewhere as well!), it is now important to ensure our work is not limited to containing the harm being done by the AIC: it must also aim to change the hearts and minds, or at least limit the harm being done by, the ⅓ of Americans who voted for the AIC, many of whom are willingly implementing the acts of hate being committed by ICE and others on the streets of the USA.
Equally, our work must also protect and strengthen those in the USA who are doing the activism there to resist the normalisation of hate, and keep the BPM alive so that there is something to rebuild that nation when the time comes.
Possible flaws
Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:

- I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.
