Post No. 3,178 - Reflections on the past week, and some interesting reading/viewing [Content Warning - oppression/bigotry/hate/violence/abuse/war. Reader discretion is advised]

I have swapped the structural order of these posts, and am now starting with the reflections section before I get into the news sections.

 Some llinks that might be of interest or value:

  • “Should Witchcraft Stay Out of Politics?”   https://youtu.be/UnCJaix9mqs   “This video explores why witchcraft is political and how it connects to social activism. The discussion challenges the idea that witchcraft should be separated from politics, highlighting how ignoring the political aspects of witchcraft can be misguided and how it is a form of social activist. Learn about modern Wicca and its role in today's world”   Chapter headings include:  HistoricallyReclamation Witchcraft and Second Wave FeminismWicca and the Repeal of the Witchcraft Act, The Basic Difference between Right and Left Politics, Witch Trials, Ceremonial Magicians: Agrippa and William Lilly
  • “People Telling You That You Aren't Allowed to Be Interested In Witchcraft? NO!!!!!”   https://youtu.be/PvXpVMqTk-I   “So many people will tell you what it is “appropriate” to be interested in, and honestly?  I’ve got no time for it.  Don’t police interest and curiosity in other cultures, and let’s all learn how to differentiate between respect and appropriation, please....”

Note: CONTENT WARNING - some of this content is about upsetting, disturbing or triggering events & attitudes. Seek competent help - including professional - if you need it. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised that linked articles may contains names and/or images of deceased people. READER CAUTION IS RECOMMENDED! For anyone distressed by anything in this post, or for any other reason considering seeking support, resources are available in Australia here, here, and here. In other nations, you will have to do an Internet search using terms such as mental health support - <your nation>(which, for instance, may lead to this, this, and this, in the USA, or this, this, and this, in France [biased towards English-language - my apologies]), or perhaps try https://www.befrienders.org/

Remember:   #PsychicABetterWorld   and   nonphysical health, strength and wellbeing

The purposes of this post’s news section include:

(1) to provide information, including news, which may be of interest, value, or use to Readers;

(2) to identify both BPM and nonBPM opportunities to do the work of this blog (particularly clearing nonBPM nonphysical  units,   BPM  healing,   and   BPM  strengthening of BPM units - the news items helps draw in/helps me find those people and other units in need of any of the help I can provide);   and

(3) to help engage and frame my emotional, mental, and other nonphysical (psychic, spiritual, Higher Self, BPM  Guides, etc) aspects both for doing my weekly PWR and for doing the work that flows from the PWR - which may also occur for some others.

Some of the news information will likely be distressing - hence the content warning, to allow people to choose times they have high energy and/or are in a good state to view these, or to ensure they have access to support resources if they may be triggered, or to choose to either temporarily or permanently skip viewing this post or the News sections, as is best for their health and wellbeing.

Within the news section, I generally try to identify what is considered “good” news in green, possibly also with green background, but owing to time, energy, and health limitations, may not always be able to do so. Similarly, I generally try to show editorial comments by me in this shade of blue (quotes are in this shade of blue) - and for the times I miss doing so, you should keep your thinking cap on.

 News :

Noting the excellent daily aggregation of global news links at   https://everythingbriefing.substack.com/

On the existential climate crisis and nuclear threats this week:

a recent advisory opinion from the Inter-American Court of Human Rights “urging states to take meaningful action through legislation, policymaking, and international cooperation” has been described as a “landmark step forward”;      a Türkiye court has been urged by a human rights organisation to scrutinise whether the environmental impact assessment for coal plant expansion sufficiently weighed the rights impact;      “planet-heating pollution tripled the death toll from the “quietly devastating” heatwave that seared Europe at the end of June, early analysis covering a dozen cities has found, as experts warned of a worsening health crisis that is being overlooked”;

In the global war against f_sc_sm (and “producerism”) this week:

Thoughts about choosing one’s battles;       Write to your MP - it works!”;      a comment by Richard Murphy that “passing laws that destroy our freedoms is tyranny”;      the problem of thinking we can judge worthiness to receive aid;      AI has been used to attempt to impersonate a senior US government official;

  • “#2: Authoritarian Power is Mostly Performance”   https://substack.com/home/post/p-167860145   “Authoritarians don’t need tanks to take power. They need TV stations, newspapers, and social media to create the illusion of invincibility. If they can project total control, people fall in line, especially when times feel chaotic and unsafe   ...   Every autocrat has weaknesses: divided elites, restless militaries, shifting public opinion. If those cracks become visible, the whole illusion can collapse. That’s why the information game matters”

Items of concern/note (and associated resistance/actions) in/regarding the USA include:

The most outstanding this week (as at the time this is being written) in the USA is  the  devastating  flash  floods  in their state of Texas, which have caused the deaths of over 100 people and scores missing, and what appears to be inaction by local authorities in response to the timely weather warnings that WERE issued, and the gross  incompetence of the Secretary of Homeland Security and the entirely absent head of FEMA (see also here) ... and the failures of that state - including to spend money as had been recommended for a decade At one stage the weather  service (which was cut back by the current US regime despite warnings ) was blamed, but that appears to not have been correct (but the risks from cut backs are real, and remain);      a warning these floods could be “the new normal”;      possible/possible perception of corruption of AIC cronies in actions that may force the privatisation of weather forecasting;

another timely reminder of the danger that is posed by the current US Vice President;

“I hate to break it to you Belle, but this isn’t going to be just a few years. For many of us in Canada, it’s going to be decades - maybe even permanent. Here’s what needs to be understood from the Canadian side. Yes, [D_ n_ ld] created this mess, but he didn’t do it alone: 77 million people voted for him - that’s the part that really sticks. eventually [D_ n_ ld] will be gone, maybe a Democrat takes the White House again, and the US will think it’s all fixed and we go back to normal, right? It’s not. Those 77 million [autocrat-in-charge (AIC)] voters? They're not going anywhere;      concerns about the USA’s slide into being a police  state;      some of the human faces of likely deaths and certain suffering from the closure of US AID;      the AIC’s supreme court has given him permission to gut the US government - see also this;      after months of promising to release it, the current US regime is now claiming the so-called Epstein list never existed - as notorious billionaire M_ sk (I am ignoring his alleged attempts to create a political party) asks why the clients on the list aren’t in prison;       the AIC has come to the verbal defence of another buddy wannabe dictator;      another lie from the current US regime has been called out - and this lie has been debunked;      a powerful rebuttal of an incompetent, self-centred, out-of-touch and utterly clueless amathiac who clearly has learned NOTHING from all that has happened since last year’s US elections;      members of the AIC’s party in the US Congress keep forgetting about their leader’s attempted  insurrection on 6th January, 2020;      the AIC is trying to cover his failure to set trade deals by attempting to redefine “trade deal” - and has added “to his unnerving list of ‘I don’t know’ answers”;      a critique of the response of AIC cultists to a now allegedly non-existent list of alleged clients of a now deceased notorious abuser of women and girls which also allegedly had enough existence to provide no evidence of wrong doing by progressives that was claimed by conspiracy fantasists - notes “If conservatives hired Bigfoot hunters and no creature was found, the proper response would be “I guess there’s no Bigfoot,” not “Clearly we need better Bigfoot hunters””, and “The point isn’t just that members of Team [AIC] looked into Epstein’s death, it’s that they made bold declarations about the legitimacy of the right’s conspiracy theories into Epstein’s death   ...   Over and over again, GOP officials told the right’s conspiracy theorists, “Trust us. There’s evidence buried in a pot of gold on the horizon. Just stick with us — keep voting, keep donating, keep supporting — and eventually we’ll deliver the answers you’re looking for.”   Except, that hasn’t happened, because those answers don’t exist”;      a powerful critique and criticism of the uselessness of most current US democratic representatives;      more patronising racist rubbish from the AIC;      objections to the proposed use of military courts to try civilians;

§   On migration, border control, rendition, deportations, and associated legal matters,   an expert opinion that the new detention facility in the US state of Florida is a concentration camp;      as the US State Department has issues a “Level 4: Do Not Travel” advisory for South Sudan due to high levels of armed conflict and violent crime, the US supreme court confirms that the US government may proceed with the rendition of eight people to South Sudan;      another fascist military exercise in threats and intimidation;      ICE has refused to release a Spanish language journalist despite a court bond and only released an Iranian mother after the Republican House Majority Leader intervened;      contrary to US claims, “El Salvador officials claim US has exclusive jurisdiction over imprisoned deportees”;      after nearly fifty years, one of the disappeared from Argentina*s notorious military regime has been identified by a famous relatives group - something the current ICE and thugs/goons should keep in mind as they commit disappearances;

Items of concern/note (and associated resistance/actions) in/regarding Ukraine/Russia (et al) include:

Dutch intelligence has warned Russia is increasing its use of chemical weapons;      concerns that a sabotage campaign in Europe since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine (including more than 70 incidents - one putting people [including children] in a nearby apartment building at risk) blamed on Russia is growing more dangerous;      Russia is now reportedly trying to recruit the nation of Laos to its side;      yet another death by defenestration of a senior Russian oil executive has renewed concerns about these - and similar - deaths;      a Ukrainian soldier who was tortured as a prisoner of war by Russia died less than a month after release from multiple organ failures;      after the USA’s AIC’s ramblings included sending Ukraine more air defence weaponry (which I have chosen not to report as I consider the AIC an unreliable source, and that issue has conflicting reports), Russia continued its escalating night air attacks on Ukraine (including civilian areas) with the largest such attack so far;      Germany has warned that “diplomatic means for resolving the Russia-Ukraine war “have been exhausted””;

the claims that continued supply of munitions to Ukraine would deplete US stockpile are subject to conflicting reports, with some disputing the claim and others supporting it - see also this  assessment of the USA’s (disingenuous?) conduct and the current state of that war ... and now shipments of munitions to Ukraine have resumed ... ;

the European Court of Human Rights has ruled that Russia was responsible for widespread violations of international law in Ukraine, including murder, torture, rape, destroying civilian infrastructure, kidnapping Ukrainian children, and shooting down the Malaysian Airlines passenger jet Flight MH17, which is the first time an international court has held Russia accountable for human rights abuses related to the conflict in Ukraine;

EU to help Moldova fight hybrid attacks from ‘agents of autocracy’, ... ahead of September election”;       concerns that China may ask Russia to attack NATO if China attacks Taiwan (I consider China might also use border tensions with India as a distraction as well);

Items of concern/note (and associated resistance/actions) elsewhere include:

mass use of a fascist gesture by a Croatian singer and audience;

On other international affairs/political news matters this week:

Items of concern/note (and associated resistance/actions) in/regarding West Asia include:

[CW - article includes testimony of SA, abuse, torture from a range of victims, including hostages and men] “An Israeli report ... said that H___s used sexual violence as a “tactical weapon of war” in its Oct. 7, 2023, attacks, building on other investigations by international and Israeli rights groups and the United Nations - this has been known since that dreadful day, but under-reported or even wrongly disputed;

Israeli airstrikes have killed more Palestinians, and five Israeli soldiers have been killed;       Israel has attacked what it says are H____i targets in Yemen;      Israeli colonisers are surrounding and threatening Palestinian West Bank villages;      Israel’s defence minister plans to force all Palestinians in Gaza into a camp on the ruins of Rafah which is being prepared by Israel’s military in a scheme that “legal experts and academics described as a blueprint for crimes against humanity”;      nonsensical claims “that new plans for the forced relocation of refugees to other countries would give Palestinians the “freedom” to choose. But what Palestinians actually want is “the freedom to return to the places from which their families were expelled,” says Peter Beinart, editor-at-large at Jewish Currents and the author of Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza;

an analysis of the substantially different current attacks, skilled propaganda, and hypocrisy of the H___i (possibly Iranian ordered) attacks  on ships in the Red Sea, and of possible responses - leading to a recommendation for convoys;        a special media report alleges that the “UK media are covering up British spy flights for Israel”, and criticism of a notorious British broadcaster’s decision to pull a documentary investigating the treatment of doctors in Gaza;       fires and subsequent threats at a defence company in Australia which is part of the global F-35 manufacturing chain will accelerate action on plans to address anti-Semitism - but a Jewish MP has reminded all that “We must learn that two things can be true at once: we can hold empathy for the unimaginable suffering of the Palestinian people, while caring for the safety of the Jewish community in Australia”, and he has provided a critique of the proposed response, including the valid free speech concerns - see also here and this response by the antisemitism envoy to free speech concerns;       over 100 trans people are missing or presumed dead after Israel’s attack on the notorious Evin Prison (known for vicious human rights abuses and detention of political prisoners) in Iran reportedly flattened the facility’s “trans ward”, which is being described as “a telling example of Israel's fraught relationship with LGBTQ rights, one that is often deployed in order to justify massacres in the region”;       a call for Egypt to release pro-Palestine protestors;      a notorious transphobe is not only continuing to be silent about the abuses (including humiliation, SA, torture, and murder) of Palestinian women, but choosing to attack those trying to defend them (with a example of a deliberate lie used by others against those people trying to support Palestinians against H___s and others);

Concern that ceasefires have acquired an outsized importance, rather than simply being part of a broader sustainable peace process;      the DRC-Rwanda peace deal fails to address the serious human rights crimes committed in eastern DRC ... and the rebel group in the east wants further talks as a UN report states a “major Rwandan coltan exporter bought smuggled [from the eastern DRC] minerals”   ...   and now Rwanda is expressing concern;       some farmers in eastern DRC are burning their lands in an environmentally destructive attempt to destroy unexploded munitions;

1.4 million returnees have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan - and another million could also be sent back.   Greece has detained 1,200 migrants in three days who came via Libya, and suspended asylum applications - which likely breaches international laws and will damage Greece’s reputation,   and   France and the UK have announced“one in, one out” approach to limiting migration/seeking asylum;      renewed violence in Myanmar has driven 150,000 Rohingya to Bangladesh;

the USA AIC’s tariff war against the rest of the world and the rest of the USA is continuing - and now includes purely punitive tariffs against Brazil for legal action against the AIC’s buddy and former president;      “Reporters Without Borders (RSF) [has] called on German authorities to protect the Egyptian journalist Basma Mostafa against alleged surveillance, intimidation and harassment in Germany by the Egyptian authorities”;      Kenya’s president has ordered police to shoot protestors in the legs - which, as police have killed dozens so far, could be a reduction in their violence/sarcasm;

On human rights matters:

Liberia’s President has issued a formal apology on behalf of the state for the atrocities and suffering inflicted upon Liberians and others endured during the country's two brutal civil wars” (between 1989 and 2003);

the notorious worldwide sporting organisation FIFA has now decided to stop anti-discrimination messaging at their events - which effectively means, IMO, they are giving tacit support to discrimination;

ICC  issues  arrest  warrants for Taliban leaders over persecution of women and girls”;       the charges Qld police laid against a woman escaping a situation of likely domestic violence by driving without a Licence have been thrown out - and have shown their misogynistic incompetence and/or bigotry;

the NT Coroner found “the Northern Territory police officer who fatally shot 19-year-old K________ W_____ is a racist, and the NT Police Force [the chief of which broke his word on two counts during the delivery of the findings] exhibits hallmarks of institutional racism”;

a call for UN states to renew the mandate of the LGBTQ+ rights expert have succeeded;      a US state Supreme Court allowed that state to permanently ban conversion therapy (which I consider, along with ABA, to be FGM of the psyche) in “a ruling that gives the governor more power over how state laws are enacted”;      protesters rally against closure of largest gender-affirming care centre for kids in the US;      a US state has refused to enact the AIC’s desired ban on trans participation in sport;      exiles from Uganda’s hate laws fear Kenya is going down the same path of hate;      the USA’s AIC is now trying to erase bisexuals from Stonewall;      the USA’s “Federal Trade Commission (FTC) hosted a ... “workshop” ... [which] was arguably more like another avenue for stoking stochastic terrorism, as well as threatening and intimidating providers of trans-affirming health care — this time under the guise of accusing them of “fraud””;      the European Court of Human Rights has ruled that a South African runner, who was born with what are described as differences of sex development, had been denied a fair trial;      a maliciously abusive example of transphobia from UK’s male soccer;      the current US regime is trying to invade medical records to identify TGDNB people;

the problem of “benevolent” ageist elderspeak;

the US Army will put most of its ceremonial horses up for adoption;

On societal and governance matters:

as ministers search for cuts, a new UK parliamentary report has revealed £350 billion a year “lost to corruption, tax dodging and crime every year” that could be clawed back;      an opinion that, in the UK, “Keir Starmer's lack of principle will finish off the Labour Party”;      a concern (that I agree with) about the impact of so-called real life crime stories/shows/reports:   “what makes the public’s insatiable hunger to play detective, jury member, behavioural analyst and forensic scientist so worrying is that, when we do it, we lose sight of the victims entirely;      US corporations want to destroy Australia’s health system so they can gouge us for profit at the expense of our wellbeing and lives;      bigotry has extended into extremism with one AI chatbot;      a report on a Queensland union (the Construction & General division of the national branch of the union was, with the support of Australian Council of Trade Unions,  placed under administration in August 2024 by the national [Labor] government) has been “referred to police (https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2025/jul/10/cfmeu-report-investigation-referred-to-qld-queensland-police-ntwnfb) after ‘threats of violence, intimidation, misogyny’ alleged”, which allegations have been strongly rejected by the former leadership;      concerns from the architect of Australia’s anti-corruption organisation that their investigation of Robodebt “has been ‘too secretive’”;      “developing nations are challenging Big Tech’s decades-long hold on global data by demanding that their citizens’ information be stored locally” - see also this, from Europe;

From a spiritual perspective:   recognising truth - such as the incompetence and deceit of extremists - is vital: doing so before allowing them into power is best, but late recognition is better than nothing, PROVIDED it leads to accountability, including removal when in the interest of the Greatest Good

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
