Post No. 191 - Preparing for receiving a reading

I'd like to briefly consider the topic of preparing for receiving a reading - i.e., what should you, as a client, do to try to make sure you get a good, accurate and meaningful reading.

Well, there are a few things I consider standard:
  • learn how to ask for protection (see my previous posts on shielding, flaming and grounding [1]) and practice doing so - and do so during the reading!); and
  • ask your positive guides to help you prepare for receiving a good, accurate and meaningful reading during sleep state [2].
More importantly, however, is preparation along the lines of the principle "if you aren't ready to accept the answer, don't ask the question".

What I would suggest for this is:
  • write down the three worst things you think you could possibly hear;
  • then, one at a time (preferably devote at least one week to each of these) work through how you would handle being told that: how would you cope, how would you move on with your life, etc.
If you CANNOT cope with being told any of these, then, in my opinion, you are not ready to receive a reading and should cancel it, as the biggest problem could be that you are simply going to block or reject whatever guidance you receive through this means.

Have a look at my post "Giving oneself a kick up the backside" for a few more thoughts that might be relevant.

  1. 1. for instance, see here, here; here; here; here; here; here; here; here; here; here and here.
  2. 2. This will include you doing things such as trying to clear karmic or other limitations on you receiving a good, accurate and meaningful reading, and possibly meeting astrally with the medium/psychic and "getting to know each other".
