anyone distressed by anything in this post, or for any other reason considering
seeking support, resources are available in Australia here, here, and here. In other nations, you will have to do an Internet search using terms such as “mental health support - <your nation>” (which, for instance, may lead to this, this, and this, in the USA, or this, this, and this, in France [biased towards English-language - my apologies]), or perhaps try https://www.befrienders.org/.
The purposes of this post are:
(1) to provide information, including news, which may be of interest, value, or use to Readers;
(2) to identify both BPM and nonBPM opportunities to do the work of this blog (particularly clearing nonBPM nonphysical units, BPM healing, and BPM strengthening of BPM units); and
(3) to help engage and frame my emotional, mental, and other nonphysical (psychic, spiritual, Higher Self, BPM Guides, etc) aspects both for doing my weekly PWR and for doing the work that flows from the PWR - which may also occur for some others.
Some of the news information will likely be distressing - hence the content warning, to allow people to choose times they have high energy and/or are in a good state to view these, or to ensure they have access to support resources if they may be triggered, or to choose to either temporarily or permanently skip viewing this post or the “News” and/or “On the resistance to the reign of Tr_ mp 2.Ø” sections, as is best for their health and wellbeing.
Within the news section, I generally try to identify what is considered “good” news in green, possibly also with green background, but owing to time, energy, and health limitations, may not always be able to do so.

News:
“Global leaders have said that escalating armed conflict is the most urgent threat in 2025 but the climate emergency is expected to cause the greatest concern over the next decade, according to the World Economic Forum”; and a The Guardian exclusive reports that “Economic growth could fall 50% over 20 years from climate shocks, say actuaries” https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/jan/16/economic-growth-could-fall-50-over-20-years-from-climate-shocks-say-actuaries “Exclusive: Report by risk experts says previous assessments ignored severe effects of climate crisis” Meanwhile, there has been a call for more work on preventing bushfires.
On the existential climate crisis this week, the “US Supreme Court has just allowed cities and states to sue Big Oil for deceptive consumer advertising and marketing to mislead people into thinking their products were good for environment and health”. Meanwhile, in Australia, the minerals lobby is using tactics to support nuclear that are being questioned.
Also, and quite importantly: “Climate ‘whiplash’ events increasing exponentially around world” https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/jan/15/climate-whiplash-events-increasing-exponentially-around-world “Global heating means atmosphere can drive both extreme droughts and floods with rapid switches”
In the global war against the radical right this week, Tennessee Brando has provided some interesting thoughts on how progressives can do better (start working for the next election(s) NOW, don’t keep using old dinosaurs [both people and policies], etc), and on the interaction between Obama and Tr_ mp at Jimmy Carter’s funeral, with an excellent discussion on being genuine and holding people to account vs perspective (basically, don’t sweat the small stuff). France has issued a warning to Tr_ mp on his threats of war as there are indications that the UK may declare M_ sk an extremist over his (and Tr_ mp’s) onslaught on Europe and a reminder is made that regulating hate speech is not hate speech; and Sweden is joining the military operations against sabotage in the Baltic Sea.
In the USA this week, we have seen a call for an immediate pushback against the Tr_ mp-M_ sk-Z__k_rb_rg war (over at least two election cycles, and noting the comment that “Looking at M_ tA’s track record outside the US, it is possible to conclude that Z__k_rb_rg has always cared more about his company’s proximity to power than he has proximity to truth”), including an accusation that disinformation encouraged looting, as M_ t_, following the appalling examples of McDonald’s and Walmart, terminates its DEI programs days before the Tr_ mp inauguration and another SCOTUS scandal emerges.
Current US President Biden has warned of the coming oligarchy in the USA and called for ethics reform ... See also this assessment and this response on how to get rid of that oligarchy.
And, on the fires in the US state of California, this video is well worth a watch: “Can Seawater Fight Fires in SoCal | Why No Water | Fireboats | Damage From Seawater” https://youtu.be/Y1N2BwcAT-s “In this episode, Sal Mercogliano—a maritime historian at Campbell University (@campbelledu) and former merchant mariner — discusses the use of seawater and how it can be utilized to fight the wildfires in southern California.” An excellent video with informed, nuanced, and sound commentary. The fires have also seen a rising death toll (many disabled and thus unable to leave), the threat of further spreading from the return of strong winds, anger and criticism but also lies needing debunking and staggering hypocrisy from Tr_ mp cultist members of Congress who voted against fire prevention measures, a contrast between people-focused mutual aid and the heavy handed, property-focused, militaristic goons in the US police & National Guard, commentary on the climate crisis effects, fears of potable water supply contamination, more evacuations, people saving animals, the use of prisoners for firefighting, criticism of the urban sprawl (these articles need to address the issues that come with higher population densities - increased misogyny and other bigotted abuse, the lack of personal green space, the harm done by being crowded, etc), the adverse impacts on the insurance industry and the ability to get insurance (see these suggestions on how to manage that), and this discussion on the common good.
There has also been more warnings that the same could happen in Australia (and it already has, to some extent, in the Port Philip area in 1851, Victoria in 1939 [which “obliterated” several towns], Victoria and South Australia in 1983 [which saw over 3,700 buildings destroyed], Hobart in 1967, the eastern seaboard in 1994 [which impacted Sydney], Canberra in 2003, Victoria in 2009 [which destroyed over 3,500 buildings],and _).
This week the Israel-Palestine war has seen more n__-n_ z_ vandalism and attacks in Australia - which will be investigated by counter-t_r_rr_sm police - and has led to calls for changes to laws; and an announced ceasefire which is now looking very likely.
In other international news, after Iran released a female Italian journalist, Italy started the process of releasing an Iranian it had arrested at the request of the USA; a warning that the USA’s Biden Administration has undermined the international order by shielding Israel; “Europe must “take responsibility” for its own security, Poland has told its fellow EU member states, as [Poland] takes over the rotating presidency of the bloc at a time of increasing geopolitical uncertainty”; Mali has seized gold and detained employees at a foreign owned mining company, which has now suspended operations according to a Reuters exclusive; Somalia and Ethiopia have agreed to restore diplomatic relations; and a power vacuum and anti-Western sentiment in the Sahel is providing an opportunity for China - which the DRC is seeking to balance by courting Saudi Arabian investment (and Kenya is strengthening economic ties with the UAE).
In human rights news, a court ruling on Belgium’s conduct (a finding that Belgium committed crimes against humanity by kidnapping mixed-race children) in colonial Africa is being hailed as turning point that could pave the way for wider justice, as the USA tries to insulate itself (and others?) against accountability for human rights abuses by attacking the ICC. And Australia is facing a moral crossroads over the appalling abuses of asylum seekers in the so-called “offshore processing centre(s)” on Nauru, with concerns that the the issue of who is accountable is still a question after nearly a quarter century. Human Rights Watch has strongly criticised “Australia’s ‘diabolical’ asylum seeker treatment and ‘appalling’ youth crime laws” (Australia is “a ‘vibrant democracy … marred by some key human rights concerns’”) as part of an assessment that “2024 witnessed ‘absolute failure’ of west to lead fight for human rights ... Leading democracies have stood by while allies have committed atrocities or supported perpetrators”; a tribunal has questioned NDIA requirements, suggesting that the onus of proof is with the NDIA, not recipients, to prove a case for revoking benefits; a call for 12 days of reproductive leave to all Australian workers - which would cost approximately 30 times less than the cost of not having it; some factual information on puberty blockers; a call to replace unaccountable LGBTIQA+ elites with “Rainbow Democracy”; TransGender Victoria has withdrawn from the 2025 Midsumma Pride March after community feedback concerning police engagement, and it should be noted that, in addition to last week's report of a possible n__-n_ z_ getting off scot free, hundreds of Victoria Police staff have reportedly been investigated for sex crimes, on and off duty, and domestic violence; a The Guardian exclusive reports on deadly brutality by Bangladesh police; more criticism of US health insurance; and Australia’s Human Rights Law Centre has prepared a report with recommendations on what to do about SLAPP law suits.
In societal matters, a guide to getting by without a smartphone (which does not cover the failure of many government departments to provide options that do NOT require use of a smartphone).
From a spiritual perspective, the nonBPM is showing (mainly in the political arena) its propensity for self destruction (which derives inherently from its belief in violence and forcefulness, aided by their lack of nuance/sophistication/human understanding), but the world is most significantly paying the price of resisting action to address the climate crisis - largely at the behest of the rich, wealthy and powerful (both individuals and corporations, some of which are involved in the self destruction). This shows the importance of maturity - the capacity to defer or give up personal gratification for the sake of what Robert Reich has this week described as the common good ... and doing so is the epitome of BPM spirituality.
In addition to doing the work of this blog, live your life as well as you can, keeping in mind that we all contribute to the psychic and politico-socio-economic “soups” that we all live in by every action or inaction.

And this comment on the video from @garywb1642 sums up an important aspect of my attitude towards the whole thing: “I don’t understand why it’s necessary in the first place to consolidate disparate traits together under a single term. We don’t call left-handed, blue-eyed people “type 3 blue eyed.” Further, when someone has two disadvantages at the same time — say, a broken ankle and stage-4 bone cancer — it especially doesn’t make sense for any consolidated term to reference only the less situationally demanding of the two conditions. Stage-4 bone cancer should never be called an EXTREMELY broken ankle, least of all to claim that cancer-free people with broken ankles are selfish, weirdly pretentious jerks who lack any moral ground to acknowledge their own disadvantage. Nonsensical terminology is an unnecessary distraction from improvement. Everyone needs some amount of support, and it’s clearly better to be specific and pointed about where one’s support needs really lie.” On top of that, are these allistic parents favouring using autism because they find that personally/socially more acceptable than terms such as “intellectually disabled”? There is also the point that the struggle for resources suggests - strongly - that what is being made available is inadequate and/or insufficient

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
