Post No. 2,986 - A social media platform has leapt back to 1950s evil [Content Warnings: discusses hate and evil; strong language]

A notorious social media platform has leapt back to 1950s evil, and will allow lies about LGBTQIA+ people - and they are not slurs nor religious views: they are malicious, proven-as-lies and “views” that are NOT held by other religions or others in the same religions of those bigots spreading those lies. 

I also note that the platform’s founder refers to speech allowed on the floor of the US Congress: other nations (and states in other nations) are BETTER than that, and do NOT allow such vitriolic hate, so that person should stop ramming the inadequacies of a political system for around 10% of the population of the world onto most of the remainder. 

And there is a bloody amathiac comment about not allowing “content about denying access to spaces and social services “on the basis of their protected characteristics””. 

Really??!!!

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING BY ALLOWING PEOPLE TO DENY GENDER IDENTITY AND BY ALLOWING THIS SORT OF HATE SPEECH ON YOUR PLATFORM, YOU BLOODY AMATHIACS! 

I am glad I have never signed up to that platform, nor any of its puppets, and now I never will. 

In my opinion, this policy will definitely cause harm (including to advertisers), and may cause deaths (especially amongst LGBTQIA+ kids). 

I just hope they don’t try to restrict responses on the basis of language being “not nice” in the light of what they ARE allowing.

This is one of the entirely foreseeable and warned about consequences of the USA re-electing Tr_ mp, and billionaires then cosying up to (their puppet) Tr_ mp. 

Those who voted for Tr_ mp or chose not to vote or minimised, covered up, or lied about the risks (including in nations other than the USA) have questions to answer about their culpability in this, as does the USA’s Democratic party for choosing, in the aftermath, to not change themselves to a newer, more youthful (or less ancient), reinvigorated, more everyday-person-focused and progressive version - as does every similar person and allegedly progressive organisation in every other nation on this planet.

First, a clarification:   at this stage these changes are now being reported as applying ONLY in the USA. I nevertheless consider they will be of major harm elsewhere, and have grave concerns that the changes will NOT stay “only in the USA”.

There have been a few memes showing how this could turn around an bite Z__k_rb_rg etc in the backside. The problem with that is that they’re rich enough to take legal action for one of the variants of defamation, and thus it is NOT necessarily going to affect them.
