Post No. 3,058 - Reflections on the past week, and some interesting reading/viewing [Content Warning - oppression/bigotry/hate/violence/abuse/war. Reader discretion is advised]

The purposes of this post are:   

(1) to provide information, including news, which may be of interest, value, or use to Readers;   

(2) to identify both BPM and nonBPM opportunities to do the work of this blog (particularly clearing nonBPM nonphysical  units,   BPM  healing,   and   BPM  strengthening of BPM units);   and   

(3) to help engage and frame my emotional, mental, and other nonphysical (psychic, spiritual, Higher Self, BPM  Guides, etc) aspects both for doing my weekly PWR and for doing the work that flows from the PWR - which may also occur for some others. 

Some of the news information will likely be distressing - hence the content warning, to allow people to choose times they have high energy and/or are in a good state to view these, or to ensure they have access to support resources if they may be triggered, or to choose to either temporarily or permanently skip viewing this post or the “News” sections, as is best for their health and wellbeing. 

Within the news section, I generally try to identify what is considered “good” news in green, possibly also with green background, but owing to time, energy, and health limitations, may not always be able to do so.

PS - I have given up trying to take the clickbait use of caps out of YouTube video titles, as I am posting too many to have the time to adjust that. Nevertheless, I still dislike that practice.


News:   

On the existential climate crisis and nuclear threats this week:      a warning the opposition’s nuclear plan would be the most expensive option for Australia;      attacks on science in the USA have led to a resurgence of climate denialism in Australia;      Vanuatu will renegotiate its security agreement with Australia to include the essential security issue of climate change;      the USA is sacrificing its future existence for profits now, and considering denying reality for a fantasy.

I am going to begin this section, this week, with two important videos:     

  • “Far right politics remains the choice of a small number in society”   https://youtu.be/ZUmCogEnNKs   which covers the point in the title, that MOST people support equality, but that also most people are tired of the normal based on the Reagan-Thatcher philosophy of neoliberalism which replaced the Keynesian logic of 1945 to 1980 that had delivered “the longest period of sustained well-being and growth in human history” with an undermined state and nothing providing delivery of services despite human beings wanting stability, sustainability, fairness, justice, order and managed change to acheive that ... but there is no moderate agenda for change, so “how do we get something better”: people focused, that values policy outcomes not differences, “that actually says inequality is the curse that we have to solve” and “that recognises that we don’t just live in the moment but which recognises that we live in a Time Continuum and therefore we have to take into consideration the fact that our current actions have consequences”, and “more than anything else meaning that the emphasis upon Finance which has dominated neoliberal government thinking has to come to an end because Finance is our servant not our Master” - “The new normal is going to have to be a world where people come first first planet comes second and finance comes a decided last”

  • “Is empathy really a threat to Western civilisation?”   https://youtu.be/2z8DEF6b54I   An excellent exposé and debunking of the christian nationalists’ perversion of empathy for the purposes of control by, and the power structures of, the (possibly sub-clinical) psychopathic radical (far) right, and an excellent explanation of the NEED to protect BOTH the cosmic AND the social Order of the Universe     and   “Elon Musk says empathy is threatening civilisation. Overall/in summary, reviewing a range (remember, this is global, not USA-focused) of press reports and commentary has left me with the following impressions:   there are mental health concerns about key people - including denial of reality and blatant lying, but resistance to fascism is growing, becoming organised, and includes court decisions & revelations of truth/attempts to evade responsibility, calls to stand up to bullies and overcome the bystander effect. As actions parallel historical eras of abuse, complete with international interference, there has also been speculation by one Christian priest about antichrists ...   


Also in the USA this week, we have:      a profoundly and utterly STUPID push to impeach the USA’s president - which is both doomed to failure and also extremely likely to at least partially reunite those currently experiencing “buyer’s regret”;      a court has ordered M_ sk (who forwarded a message wrongly minimising the responsibility of despots who order/coerce/use stochastic t_rr_r_sm to get underling to commit crimes against humanity)  to give sworn testimony;      suppression of dissent that includes a warning from Robert Reich of Soviet-style behaviour, and an actual arrest of someone with the intention of deportation - which has been blocked by a judge (see also this and this analyses, and also this opinion) - and an open threat that this is just the first of many, and a journalist resigning after their column criticising the paper’s owner is crapped;      black communities have been forced to form self defence groups against n__-n_ z_s. 


This week the Israel-Palestine war/ceasefire has seen:      

  • H___s reiterated its call to progress the second phase of the ceasefire (especially for humanitarian reasons), and Israel will send a delegation to Qatar - but has also cut off  electricity to Gaza - see  also  these  accusations;      an assessment that most mainstream media has ignored, misrepresented, or lied about a threat to kill all people in Gaza;      an Israeli far-right minister has stated the US plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza of Gazans is “taking shape” - and an AP Exclusive reports that three east African nations have been approached about accepting any surviving ethnically cleansed Gazans ... (Sudan - who rejected the approach, and Somalia and Somaliland, who were unaware of any approach);      a denial of a Jewish Congress member’s Jewishness;      
  • in Australia, a The Guardian exclusive reports that “Labor was warned its perceived ‘one-sided’ Israel support over Gaza raised social cohesion concerns”;       “police investigating a caravan full of explosives discovered on a NSW property in January have confirmed it was part of a "fake terror plot" orchestrated by organised criminals” - the report explains the key evidence supporting this, and notes police commentary that “the discovery of the explosives has had a "chilling" effect on Australia's Jewish community” and that “the person who orchestrated the plot had done so to use knowledge of the caravan as a bargaining chip to alter their criminal status” ... and the opposition leader has been criticised for being duped - see also   “Police confirmation of ‘fabricated terrorism plot’ shows the need to stop exploiting antisemitism”   https://www.jewishcouncil.com.au/media/police-confirmation-of-fabricated-terrorism-plot-shows-the-need-to-stop-exploiting-antisemitism ;      a call for Australia to act on Israel’s cutting off of aid to Gaza;      Islamophobic attacks in Australia have doubled, “reaching crisis levels’”, with 60% of physical assaults, 79% of verbal assaults, and all spitting attacks being against Muslim women and girls. 


In other international news, including the illegal and unprovoked war against Ukraine:      

  • governments and leaders that are standing firm against US pressure are more popular in their nations;       
  • in a re-run of McCarthyism, the USA is now attacking the UN to enforce the perversions, hatreds, and bigotries of the current US administration;      
  • following Ukraine’s agreement to a possible 30 day ceasefire (see here), Putin has claimed to agree but then set out a list of conditions/requests for clarification which, at the very least, delay any ceasefire and, at the worst, make it unworkable - thereby showing that he is as bad faith an actor as many have alleged;       “Russification” in occupied Ukraine;     
  • more  considerations of a European nuclear shield - and of deterrence more generally and dependence on the USA, with loans being predicated on buying European and reaffirmed support for unified support for Ukraine and global human rights;      “in the face of ‘unprecedented pressure’, [the] EU [has called] for primacy of international law and partnership”;      extreme cruelty from some of Putin’s troglodytes towards the mothers of dead soldiers for International Women’s Day;     
  • North Korea has done its traditional annual firing of ballistic missiles in response to the traditional annual US and South Korean military exercises ... which still constitutes a significant risk, every year;      Uganda has sent troops to support the official government of South Sudan;      Canada has a new Prime Minister who is not a Member of Parliament (see also this, for background);      NATO has pledged “‘unwavering’ support for Bosnia’s integrity after Serb separatist actions”;      the  Dalai  Lama has written that his successor will be born outside  Chinese-occupied Tibet in the ‘free world’;      “‘Haiti’s survival is at stake,’ says UN expert, warning of worsening crisis”;      an examination of the possible peace between Türkiye and a [proscribed group];   Greenland’s gradual independence party  - “whose leader told [the USA’s president] ‘we are not for sale’” and reaffirmed that position - has won the recent elections;      Iran has warned the USA against using military threats;      Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have signed a State Border Treaty after decades of negotiations;      as the DRC and rebels agree to talks, thousands of SADC troops will be withdrawn;      
  • a warning the world is unprepared for the next pandemic, and a warning that human rights must be key in considering responses.


In human rights news:      

  • funding cuts have brought the world’s humanitarian system to breaking point, and many of those affected are presupposing they will be expected to die in silence;   
  • the USA’s current administration is using a n_ z_ era symbol in their anti-LGBTQIASB+ social media messaging;       a formerly progressive US state governor has backflipped into being a transphobe;      another nation has criticised the Cass so-called “review”;      a US school that claimed it was protecting parental rights when it outed trans students was NOT doing so according to a court - and was endangering the trans child;      a US state has legalised compulsory, without consent genital inspections of children;      a radical (far) right wing billionaire has run extremist ads in many - NOT ALL! - Australian newspapers, leading to apologies and staff protests - and a powerful backlash (the article has good stats, and a poll showing most Australians do NOT want this issue politicised);      
  •  “human rights group CIVICUS puts US on watchlist for threats to civil liberties”;      children are lacking food in Bangladesh (Rohingya) and Halls Creek, NW Australia;      according to a National Indigenous Times exclusives, AI has generated racist images - possibly from artwork used without permission, and “Victoria’s former top cop acknowledged the state’s former bail laws directly led to the death of Indigenous women Veronica Nelson despite allegedly recently pushing for the laws to be strengthened again” - see also this assessment of what the numbers actually say and what the risks of an overreaction are, and this on the understandably outraged reactions;      the Closing the Gap report shows things are getting worse;      a landmark compensation case for mining has been upheld - and may be as consequential as the Mabo case;      concerns about child trafficking and neurotechnology;     
  • cruelty towards victims of a natural disaster in NSW by that state’s ALP Premier;      


In societal and governance matters:      as the data confirms a good job is no longer enough to buy a house, a call for Australia to build more smaller houses rather than fewer oversized ones - and this is notably affecting emergency service workers. 

 

From a spiritual perspective:      taking the current threats with an appropriate understanding of their seriousness is VITAL.  

 

 

On the resistance to fascism:

  • “You Need to Understand the Bystander Effect and How to Overcome It”   https://youtu.be/wl_FcNY00uY   (and see also this follow up)      and   “Do Not Be Deterred by the Threat of Martial Law and the Insurrection Act”   https://youtu.be/QsQmqN1jxLg   includes an excellent commentary from a (female) military vet      My main concern about this creator is that she seems to be biased against neurodivergence - a lot of the solutions she suggests are not suitable, for instance, for neurodivergent people. If that is lack of knowledge, she should brush up on Devon Price’s writings - and deal with any bigotry she may have
