Post No. 3,050 - Off topic: breaking the rules

One of the things that interests me about blogging is how many views I get, and where those views are coming from - which I have posted about previously (here, here, here, and here)

In the world of the Internet, my blogs are extremely small - when I do searches, top blogs and equivalent often have subscribers that wildly exceed my views, and thus much higher numbers of engagement.

However, I am still pleased with what I am doing, and with what impact I am having - especially given how much I detest clickbait.

Now, there are some well established principles for getting more views - quite apart from clickbait, and one of those is posting regularly.

Which means I was extremely amused (and surprised and pleased) to find that me stopping posting actively on my political blog resulted in a major increase in the views that blog was receiving.

It reminded me of a time in the 1980s when I had switched to sailing a two person dinghy, but hadnt been able to sell the single handed dinghy I was sailing before then, and, when damage prevented me taking the two person dinghy to a regional regatta I just took the single handed dinghy - which I hadnt touched for months ... and came equal first.

I and my friends had some good jokes about that.

Anyway, I thought I would post my analysis of the numbers. I’ve also added the last six months of nations where the views have come from, which is a little out of sync with the five months since I made my political blog inactive, but still gives an idea of where the views are mostly coming from.

So ...

A comparison of the views of my political and main blogs since then:

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
