Post No. 3,064 - the US experiment is over ... what will be the next US experiment is being made now

Following some crucial events of late, including (these links are largely, but not all, from the coming reflections post): 

• from The New Humanitarian:   “in retaliation for the US decision to revoke a license allowing Chevron to operate in the country, Venezuela stopped receiving removal flights. Meanwhile, Ecuador and Mexico announced they would not accept deported migrants from other nations. So-called third-country deportations left more than 100 migrants subject to abuse in Panama, prompting lawyers to file a petition to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights” - but the USA has deported  hundreds of immigrants to El Salvador - treating them as t_rr_r_sts - despite a court order to not do so (and admitting breaching the court order), with the use of a war powers act to enable that subsequently blocked by a court   ... 
  When are the US Marshals going to do their job? Is another step required other than the breach of the order - e.g., do the US Marshals act on bench warrants specifically, and not court orders in general (without further direction)? Because as things are now, apart from the direct human rights abuses committed by those doing the deportations and what the USA is doing to its already shattered reputation, the judge and the US Marshals are also damaging their standing in the eyes of the rest of the world ...

  and an extremist far-right group claims it has submitted “thousands of [pro-Palestinian] names” to the US government for deportation;     

• a private, independent not-for-profit organisation has also been attacked by DOGE - despite clearly NOT being part of the US government;       

• the realignment of the USA into what appears to be a puppet-state of Russia; 

• years of conservative politicians sacrificing decency for power, and Democracy sacrificing robust defence of democracy to prissy hand wringing, which have combined to allow the disaffected being turned into mindless puppets who enabled the return of fascism directly into the heart and soul of what had once been the world’s bastion of defence for democracy against fascism; 

• a history of assassinations of key people (Abraham Lincoln - yes, the effects of that one are STILL being felt; John F Kennedy, Dr Martin Luther King Jr., Robert (“Bobby”) Kennedy, and others) which allowed fatal flaws such as white supremacism, small-minded self-interest, and the greedy aspiration to be one of the elite, to continue to fester; 

• the deaths of millions likely to come from US cuts; 

• “The Constitutional Crisis Has Begun”   https://youtu.be/mlrqAOqI3Y4   “A doctor and Brown college professor forcibly deported to Lebanon, 261 Venezuelan immigrants spirited away in the night to an El Salvador mega prison. Both times the government acted contrary to explicit judicial orders. And in both cases the [USA’s current] Administration is denying any wrongdoing. The judicial branch is the last bulwark against complete constitutional collapse, and the [USA’s current] administration showed us this weekend that it is ready to openly defy judicial orders to carry out its mass deportation agenda”       

• “In an unprecedented and historic development, Chief Justice Roberts has opened a direct dialogue with [the USA’s current president] in public, admonishing him in a statement in real-time for attacking Federal Judge Boasberg this morning for blocking his illegal use of war powers to deport people in a social media rant, calling him a lunatic and calling for his all caps “IMPEACHMENT”. Michael Popok takes a deep dive into Roberts’ direct finger-wagging at Trump, his historic decision to do it outside the confines of an actual court ruling as the chief administrator and defender of the federal court system, and what it could mean when the case ends up before the Supreme Court” - this is very critical of Chief Justice Roberts past behaviour and actions - that led to the current problems, which critique emphasises the “unprecedented and historic” nature the Chief Justice’s current remarks;      

... my opinion is:

• the US experiment of republican democracy - government of the people, by the people, for the people - is over ...failed as the people failed in the charge laid on them to be strong enough to hold to it ...  
  

Given the frailty and failures of the current systems, it is not possible to simply go back to what was in place before - that has been shown to fail under stress tests. 

Something better is needed, and these should be noted: 

• a thought that what future generations may get out of the current troubles (particularly the admission of the US administration breaching a court order) in the USA is what is being created now - and see this, this, on united grassroots resistance;      

• the rest of the world is belatedly - and far too late - waking up to the need for mature, self-reliant sovereignty, rather than outsourcing almost everything on to one clearly imperfect nation, and often just to save money; 

In my opinion, the “something better” should include (and this is largely for my nation - Australia):

• no reliance on conventions - automatically enforced provisions are essential to protect democracy; 

• eliminate the curse of both-sidesism; 

• test all candidates for basic civics competence, and all candidates and all key public officials for  psychopathy/authoritarianism/unmanaged unconscious bias; 

• ensure education teaches civics, community mindedness, and critical thinking - violent conservatives have flawed thinking that leaves them vulnerable to conspiracy fantasies, and that leads to what is happening in the USA; 
  

• require oaths of elected representatives to be to community and principles, NOT foreign monarchs - and similarly for all those with coercive power (i.e., police, military) - the bigots and wannabe elites must be removed; 

• constitutional protection of minorities and human rights generally, and a genuine commitment to social equity; 

• publicly funded elections - and make sure big money stays out; 

• get bigotry out of the press. 

There is another matter that applies to the disaster unfolding in the USA, something I mentioned vaguely in this post: 

the USA is experiencing its Pluto return, which is a time of extreme change/transformation - see here, here, here, here, and here.

I am not a close adherent to astrology, but I found these articles ... stunning, and it is after considering them, as well as the key events of this week, that have led me to realise that the original experiment in republican style democracy in the USA is dead, and the USA (and the world) must look to, and guide & nurture, what is going to be born out of the present.

Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:

• I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.
