Post No. 3,323 - A rant: the problem of incompetence at being human (~1,020 words; ~ 7 minutes)

This post started as one small topic, which grew into a few small points that I was struggling to tie into something worth posting - or at least cohesive, when I realised what I have been struggling to elucidate for quite some time (struggling partly because I generally feel I should be publishing something positive) - and that realisation was summarised in a SubStack note as follows (I've edited it to fix some word errors):

I thought I would write about: 

• how the foot soldiers of neoliberalism - those incompetent, scammed dupes in workplaces who committed the evil known as neoliberalism - were largely FOMO - amathiac, emotionally inept and lacking as human beings, but also so terrified of seeming to be stupid or missing out that they were like the person I knew who, when the character Dawn was introduced to the TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", claimed she remembered her from previous episodes (which was impossible). 
  

Today’s foot soldiers of evil are vicious, hateful, and also incompetent at being human.

I am, however, too unwell to write particularly well - and I actually consider the point largely self evident anyway, so I will leave this at that for now, but I will also include the original brief topics below. 

Forced busyness etc 

One of the major problems of life in industrialised and feudal and patriarchal societies is the endemic pressure to justify our existence by being busy. That seems, to many in the western world, to have come down the patriarchy-perverted version of Christianity that I refer to as neochristianity - and which others refer to more specifically as Protestantism, or, if they're being more accurate, Calvinism. 

The truth, whatever you call it, is that it is an attack on being human, and on all people having an adequate quality of life - and largely because some people want to be what they consider "superior" to others (have more social status points, or "higher" social status, if you prefer that wording). 

I came to writing this via a comment in a blog post of mine a little while ago, which was: 

However, I’m still not getting out as much as I would like: the various crises in the world (or more specifically, my meditation and other work on those crises) and the need to earn an income are largely responsible for that, but the lack of energy, excess of pain, and a couple of other factors don’t help either.

And that’s the second point: “life” can seem to conspire to force us to be busy … but I think the neoliberal capitalist industrialised society I live in may be more likely to blame … 

I have watched myself and those around me on this aspect for most of my life (all of my adult life, certainly), and I am firmly of the opinion, based on my observations, that we have been duped by ultra-rich neoliberals and their sock puppets, and have been socially conditioned by millennia of patriarchy and its favourite tools (especially mainstream religion), into considering we "should" be busy - even in trivial, inefficient, wasteful ways - or otherwise we're "evil". 

There are valid times and needs for being busy, including times when genuine life demands can coincide or be demanding, but the simple TRUTH is that those are rarely present when people start an activity for the sake of busyness ... 

And most of the "modern" demands are artificial, and of arguable (i.e., no) merit. 

One of the aspects of modern life that is extremely problematic is the fear of being "different" - which can lead not only to working frantically at suppressing any difference in oneself, but also to imposing that enforced conformity on others, something also known as ... bigotry. 

This is particularly a problem around gender roles, withotoxicoalphaopersonalityoTERFs (who are neither radical nor feminist) acting out of a desire to protect the privileged social status of being either "looked after" in the "trad wife" sense or using attractiveness as a weapon. 

The truth is that all genders should support themselves, share earning income and housework equally, take active parts in child rearing, and that TERFs should be called out by politicians (and some do) just as other forms of bigotry should also. 

And all people should refuse to go along with performative cr_p. Yes, that means people will have to work out how to behave and what to do for themselves in social situations, but that will ultimately result in a better (more authentic / genuine) world. 

One of the things that may help to eradicate is misogyny in politics - which, contrary to the inaccurate simplification that that - and bad decisions - are made  largely by toxicoalphaopersonalityowhiteocishetomen, is also found in toxicoalphaopersonalityowhiteocishetowomen who got to their positions by emulatingotoxicoalphaopersonalityowhiteocishetomen - women such as theoutterlyovileoandoeviloMaggieoThatcher. 

All of this will also lead to us addressing the unmanaged unconscious "bias" (UUB) that does so much damage - especially when it results in companies hiring people they feel comfortable with because they share bigotries/hates/biases/UUB and then complaining that their efforts to improve DEI aren't working and they still have misogyny (or misandry in female-dominated situations), racism, etc 

Some football clubs have a "no ____heads" rule (yes, I am annoyed enough to repeat [albeit edited] crudities - and deliberately so, for the impact [shock]); some companies won't get substantially better until they are prepared to forego the skills of the latestoslickowhiteocishetocandidate and hire someone who can do the role - meeting the genuine requirements - but doesn't have the extra and useless "skills" ... and to do that, our (I am writing about my nation - Australia) elected politicians need to start doing things like ban all MPs with residential investment properties from housing debates, ban all who have shares from debates on corporate accountability / restoring the balance of power between corporations and people, and make laws that allow matters other than money to be included in decision making.

Remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, to mind our Mӕgan, and to acknowledge that all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering” (just as binary gendered [men’s and women’s] sporting teams are either both given the gender descriptor, or neither).
