Something I think about fairly often is exactly what sort of political changes are needed in this world - and that includes changes in my adopted home state (Victoria), and my nation (Australia).
One of the things that is of grave concern to me is inequality - which is, to a significant extent (IMO), due to the excessive powers of large corporations. Those powers are morally perverted (again, in my spiritual opinion), because of common law requirements that boards must, as I understand it, make decisions based on financial matters - which means decisions based on matters such as social justice, sustainability, or even the survival of the human species don't just count lower down, they DO NOT COUNT AT ALL.
In that context, I am very much aware that the coming (future) inequality, struggle for food, etc means future generations will - quite deservedly - curse us (my generation) profoundly, vehemently, and violently.
So, against the current backdrop of too many third rate managers and second rate politicians (noting many of both are actually first rate) whining (which not all do ... ) about jobs, economic growth, and profitability, it has to be recognised that, in the future we're currently heading for, the only consistent, coherent, and capable economic sector in the future economy will be disaster recovery.
If we do NOT want that, then we need NOW an Act of Parliament to overturn the common law amathia that boards “must” make decisions based on money only, to enable decision making also on the basis of the survival of the human species - which is what the climate crisis is about.
This is even more imperative than non-nuclear world war - and anyone who claims not to get that is aligning themselves with what will likely be the biggest episode of mass human deaths in history (future generations will unequivocally call it a genocide ... ).
I fear that’s where we’re at unless someone starts telling the truth - which, in turn, means ...
