Recently there has been a problem on Mastodon with some trans folk engaging in a racist attack on a black protection site that had - correctly - identified their instances and/or accounts as including racist content/activity/concerns.
This is ironic, given the trans community’s reliance in the past on what was termed “The Good Tranny Guide”, but, more importantly, it is unacceptable.
My experience of the TGD community is that it can include significant problems - as can the LGBTQIASB+ communities generally. I’ve probably written about this elsewhere, but a few quick comments now are:
- my experience includes being deliberately and maliciously misgendered by a trans receptionist at a medical clinic that was supposed to be LGBTQIASB+ friendly (goodbye to that clinic);
- my experiences have also included misogyny from some gay men, transphobia from some cisgender lesbians, ableism, and intermittent hostility from some other sections of the communities and some individuals;
- others have reported bi-erasure and other problems;
- and, as outlined at the start of this post, racism - and other problems.
None of this is acceptable; all of it needs to be dealt with; and it shows that nobody and no community is perfect.
Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:
- there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”;
- I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.

Finally, remember: we generally need to be more human being rather than human doing, and to mind our Mӕgan.
