Post No. 1,738 - Magickal Battle of the World - Weekly Meditation - Week No. 35 - The spiritual opportunities which occur as a result of physical distancing

Black Lives Matter!

Stay safe - wash your hands, practice social distancing and wear a face mask in public, and follow informed medical advice - and be considerate towards those at risk or in situations of vulnerability (including economic) while the COVID-19 pandemic is a problem.

I have been writing about improving the world through a range of means on my blogs: this blog has been focused on spiritual and psychic means, including strengthening  BPM  units and clearing nonBPM units, and meditation to generate BPM energy (and units, if you know enough).

This has been done before - particularly during times of crisis.

The climate crisis has been our World War III for some time (with the denialists being, at the very least, the WW3 equivalents of Quisling, Vichy France, etc), and we now have the COVID-19  pandemic, caused by the zoonotic  SARS-CoV-2  novel coronavirus (there are other novel coronaviruses), on top of that.

World War II was probably the biggest global crisis before our current dual crises, and during those terrible events, there were a number of people undertaking magickal work, including  the work by Dion Fortune (there were others) outlined in the Gareth Knight edited book “The Magical Battle of Britain” (my copy pub. Skylight Press, 2012, ISBN 978-1-908011-45-9), which I reviewed here. Ms Fortune directed her team through a series of 136 weekly and (I think) 19 monthly meditations (I originally intended to publish a list at some stage, but it’s so long and comprehensive that I’m concerned about breaching copyright, so I may either see if I can find an online list, or publish something listing the broad themes only). At the end of this, she was exhausted, and that work is considered to have contributed to her death, but a change for the better had been accomplished.

We already have a lot of people doing a lot of work on making the world a better place (including before the current crises - and I’ve found this group working at following [and adapting] Ms Fortune’s techniques and purposes), but I would like to extend my contribution to also include a series of weekly - or near weekly - meditations along the line of those directed by Ms Fortune.

I am proposing this be added to the Sunday meditations which are part of my regular psychic work. For convenience, an outline of the meditation is provided at the end of this post.

The notes on each week’s meditation will probably be brief to the point of being terse.

This Week: No. 35 - The spiritual opportunities which occur as a result of physical distancing

I have written about this previously, at https://gnwmythr.blogspot.com/2020/09/post-no-1658-spiritul-aspects-of.html (text copied in below).

A key comment from that post is:

Stripped of the distractions and artificial busyness of modern life, we have an opportunity to see ourselves and grow (if one is afraid of being alone, that is a problem; if one is unduly dependent on others, that is a problem; if one is living to consume, that is a problem), and to review the basis for our life.

There are a few other things we need to address:

  • our lifestyle vulnerabilities - having a smaller house and simpler (minimalist) lifestyle now that needs less money is a decided survival advantage now. That advantage will recur as we face the ever-growing impacts of the climate crisis, and future pandemics; and
  • face our emotions and work with them - not so much shadow work as just good basic gaining and understanding of, appreciation for, and ability to work with, emotions - as I wrote about here, when reviewing “The Language of Emotions”, by Karla McLaren, pub. Sounds True, Boulder (USA), 2020, ISBN 978-1-59179-897-2 (Amazon).

There can be an overlap between these two issues, and circumstances (such as dependents) that mean one may not be able to make the changes one wishes (unless one wishes to sacrifice spiritual values such as caring, empathy, and responsibility, which goes against the idea of taking advantage of this opportunity).

As the pandemic has gone on longer, the challenges have become harder: the novelty of working at home or being isolated passes, and one needs to make more effort to keep doing the fundamentals of looking after oneself - good diet, exercise, sleep, meditation, social connection by social media, and so on.

Eventually, exhaustion and a loss of hope becomes a problem - just as, when you’re doing a long meditation retreated, by about the third eight hour day of sitting to meditate, your body has physical aches and pains you didn’t know were possible, or during a long and demanding task such as a prolonged rescue you may feel you have nothing left (that can be particularly so when working with large heavy crystals for hours long sessions), or when doing tonglen you start to flag or lose your focus or start to become a little resentful.

But the meditators continue - for years, sometimes, and find a benefit most of us who do not do such intense and prolonged retreats never do; the rescuer may give up their will to spirit and just endure until the work is done; the tonglen practitioner changes focus and starts doing the tonglen on those aspects of themselves that are problematic - just as they were doing on others.

In my opinion, based on my experience, hope is not a fantasy-based emotion: it is built on the foundations of lots of previous experience, going all the way back to being a toddler learning to walk (for most of us - not all are physically able), learning a piece of knowledge or a skill (for me, sailing was a major boost), or overcoming something new - such as the first time we ever had an illness and got through it.

In that sense hope is like a coral reef - a magnificent beautiful thing built on the accumulation of the past, as a coral  reef is built on the calcium  carbonate skeleton that has built up over thousands of years.

And if you struggle with hope, then it is time to turn to life’s purpose, which takes us back to spirituality, particularly the spiritual aspects of the pandemic.

To aid in this work, I've chosen to use a bindrune for courage.

Post No. 1,658 - Spiritual Aspects of the Pandemic Lockdown

Black Lives Matter!

Let me begin by stating quite clearly that I support the measures being taken to manage the pandemic - such as hand washing (not always possible - many nations have limited water supply), wearing facemasks (which I was advocating for long before my home state made them mandatory), and the lockdown.

However, having made that point, there are aspects to this pandemic lockdown that go beyond managing the risks to life and ongoing health from the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus and the COVID-19 illness it causes.

The biggest and most obvious is the problem of environmental degradation - partly driven by greed and addiction to materialistic excess, partly by arrogance (the notion of “taming” nature, or that nature exists for humanity’s service), and by the problem of population growth (which I have been talking about since the 1970s) and global inequality.

Environmental degradation, associated with population growth, clearing of forests and the desire for food, is why we came into contact with the virus.

Beyond that, we have physical needs (such as exercise, being able to get food [again, much worse in less developed and/or poorer nations], etc), and mental-emotional needs (the mental health problems that are caused by loneliness, boredom, fear, etc).

We also have spiritual needs.

Stripped of the distractions and artificial busyness of modern life, we have an opportunity to see ourselves and grow (if one is afraid of being alone, that is a problem; if one is unduly dependent on others, that is a problem; if one is living to consume, that is a problem), and to review the basis for our life.

Spirituality is about how and why to live - about caring for others, being prepared to be patient and put the needs of all above oneself, but also understanding that one has genuine needs that must be met or managed in order for one to do that. In my case, I felt trapped in a lifestyle which is high stress, where I have people who - to decreasing extent - are dependent on me in a number of ways, and I can’t do what I wish (especially study and writing). I know I can leave, but that would abandon those I care about and breach my values. What this crisis has forced me to do, is be more “religious” (pun intended) about self care.

Spirituality is about why one should keep going - in my case, I consider that is so I can have the opportunity to contribute to this being a better world, especially after life gets back to the new normal. (I want to see more genuine global compassion, and FAR more GENUINE environmental consideration).

I consider a focus on hope risks being trite, as that can become a way to keep going until things are back to “normal”. We have an opportunity for self-reflection and change now, as a world wide species, that is unparalleled. We can reset ourselves and our lives and lifestyles to be more compassionate, inclusive, and caring - of ourselves, yes, but also of others and the planet as a whole.

If we don’t, the pandemic will be but the opening scene in a multi-act tragedy.

The Meditation (see here, here, and here) consists of:

 - appropriate and responsible protection (see here, here, here), prayer and ritual (e.g., here) to establish and check protection (re-do the protection, or re-schedule the meditation, if you don’t feel safe and secure);

 - establish a personal connection to your Higher BPM influences;

 - visualise the sigil (see above) for this work. Think of what this work means for you as you do so, then, when you feel you have fully tuned in to the meaning of the sigil, see it as a portal or doorway (you could open it like a door [close it behind you], simply pass through it, visualise yourself shrinking and passing through the centre, or whatever else works best for you), and travel through to to a place created by the visualisation of yourself and others for this work. That place should have:
     (a) a visualisation of the workplace you personally prefer - something you can change, if you wish, as you yourself change;   and
     (b) a shared visualisation of a device to astrally share our knowledge, something developed in a previous project (still active astrally): a visualisation of a large, green, multifaceted emerald. Large: around half the size of the Moon; multifaceted - billions, for all people who wish to be part of this at any time; green - largely tied up with the previous project, but has connotations of nature and growth. One of those facets is yours - choose whatever location and shape you wish (and you may change that as you change [grow] over time), but in the interest of humility and sharing, see it at around human - or human aura - size;

 - flush one’s aura with green (R0, G102, B0), blue (R0, G0, B204) and purple (R153 G0, B204);

 - fill one’s Heart Chakra (and maybe one’s Earth Star, Solar Plexus, Third Eye and Crown Chakras) with green, blue and purple; send a weave of three streams of this colour from the Chakra(s) to the visualised gigantic, multi-faceted emerald through your facet until you see your energy enlivening other areas of the emerald and can feel similar energies flowing back to you;

 - visualise the rune / bindrune (if given - or, on Sunday, the group of symbols provided);

 - generate  feelings of love, peace, joy and respect;

 - strengthen those feelings (energies);

 - radiate those energies to the world for nine to eighteen minutes;

 - then, on Sunday, also perform the additional meditation work for around 15 minutes or so: contemplate the topic, and the spiritual (i.e., nonphysical) implications of it, and seek insights and understanding. Do not be distracted by thoughts of physical actions - those are necessary also, but this exercise is about the nonphysical, in the broadest possible sense, and the focus should be on nonphysical actions, energy flows, symbols, and the like, all with the intention of bringing about a change for the better. As a second stage, if you wish, you can meditate on any physical actions which may be necessary, but get the spiritually focused work done first;

 - when you have finished your work:
     (i) send the thought of any knowledge you wish to store or share through your portal into the group visualised emerald;
     (ii) return back through the sigil; and
     (iii) close your chakras, centre and ground yourself and close your aura, use the banishing version of the LBRP to open circle, ground and release all excess energy; and make sure you are grounded and closed down – eat, if you need to, or seek help from someone capable and trusted.
