Post No. 2,535 - Trauma [Content Warning: bigotry/discrimination and other forms of abuse, violence, sexual violence, CSA, self harm]

PS - I’ll some additional links from time to time here:

  • “Why I (As a Therapist) Hate CBT | Therapist Explains Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - YouTube”   https://youtu.be/FfT3mzxMGxM?si=gEHJpXhyx39d56lz   Brilliant video - I agreed with so much of this! Also, in my experience, I have found the people who advocate for CBT are often out of touch with their emotions, or are even anti-emotions - which puts them at odds with one of the most important parts of living, not to mention one of the best tools for growth, as is well exemplified by the outstanding work of Karla  McLaren

Im not going to go into graphic detail here, but I just want to acknowledge the effects of (me) having experienced a lifetime of traumatic abuse in a wide range of forms (I have not experienced anywhere near all forms of abuse) - including being bullied (especially at school), CSA, transphobia (which, in truth, is really an attempt to kill people whose existence is challenging or discomforting to the bigot), racism (the same comment for transphobia applies here), egotistical refusals to accept new perspectives - especially the reluctance to let go of cherished old but outmoded and/or wrong notions (which I have written about as a fear of griefing - making those people emotionally incompetent and intellectual & emotional cowards ... and the agents of the denialism that is perpetuating inequality, greediness & destruction, and the climate crisis),and the society & soul destroying hate of economic rationalism aka neoliberalism and the resultant fascism.

I have been diagnosed with complex trauma, and life is not always easy.

Today is one of those days I need to decompress and look after myself.

Ive written about the issue of trauma and related matters previously. See, for instance, just from this year:
